  • Ford Pro is trialling connected car technology using geofencing that could one day do away with the need for speed limit signs completely. The system could make streets safer for pedestrians, cyclists and other road users, and help drivers avoid inadvertently incurring speeding fines.

if the driver is in control of the vehicle he should be IN CONTROL. don't let your systems get in the way of a driver and his choice to drive. proivde the details and allow cruise control to use this data and properly set but if the driver needs to accelerate or do other avoidance measures these systems should not get in teh way of the drivers ability to do what is necessary.

In the USA it was put into law a remote "kill switch" on all new vehicles. Do you think they might decide that the days they can't make enough power for the grid, your car gets turned off for the day? My Ford Fusion already hooks to the WIFI at night. They already have plans to make options on the car a monthly service charge to use them. You want heated seats activated? Well, you get to pay a service charge.

Such a tragedy you would give so much trust to a few sensors and a computer instead of your own eyes.

@@sharingan030895 Thats what many folks want it to be in this modern world. No responsibility and accountability. None of this is needed. Just more overhead and future problems.

So, Ford is testing a geofencing speed limit control system, great, for certain areas, but seriously, it's like the Hola Collar (that dog GPS collar fencing system), but for vehicles speed limits, what does that say about today's driver, pay attention if you're behind the wheel of a vehicle, so many safety features/tech come from lack of drivers pay attention while driving

Great systems, but we MUST be able to toggle them on and off at our own will. Also, another important safety measure, is the ability to override these systems when pressing the gas pedal above ~70-80%, for avoidance measures as an instance.

You will NOT be allowed to turn this off and on unless you are an Elite or the Government... This is the 1st steps to CONTROL you. Speed limiting is just the excuse...

Or...you will see more and more folks removing or crippling (or hacking) any connections no matter what the "mandate"
may be. NO ONE that I know trust the governing bodies in any why now...

This must not be implemented, probably will though when everyone is forced to drive electric cars, you won't be able to use them freely
