Thanks Tom, this sketch took about 20 minutes in real time, but I've been doing this for a long time. A more realistic time might be an hour.

I am absolutely amazed at your work. I know they are simple sketches and renderings, but man great job. What markers/pen/liners do you use?
Sorry for the slow response Bobbie. Thanks for the compliments. I typically use PrismaColor markers for all of the colors and tones, Sharpies for the blacks, and just about any ballpoint pen for the lifework, though I prefer Bic medium ballpoints, usually with the round barrel.

Wow. I try this on my surface pro all the time. never comes out this well.
I've watched this video like 10 times now from 03:00 in. Just to figure out why you add the 2 rectangles. I'm not getting it.
And thanks for the "synthetic suede finish". Awesome!
Just a little flare in the render style. Those types of rectangles often indicate reflections found in much skinnier materials than molded foam... but sometimes they are fun to throw into a sketch for some added visual interest. You see them more often in automotive sketches.

Good luck with the "Saturday Design Workshops for Creative Teens". I wish that I was still a kid and living in the area (I'm in Europe.). Awesome that you do these things, and for free as well.
I just enrolled into a product design sketching online class for beginners. That site has plenty online product design sketching and transportation sketching courses for all levels. With or without instructor feedback. Apologies for getting carried away.
Thanks Robert. I do what I can. usually if a school can pay for my travel I'm good with it. I also do workshops at companies for in house teams... those aren't free though :-) I'm doing one next week in Chicago.
I am positively envious of the people who will attend your workshop in Chicago.
I hope that one day you do a workshop in Amsterdam, or anywhere else in The Netherlands, or Belgium, or Germany. I will do more than my best to be there.
Hopefully a school or a company will get me out there sometime soon. Looks like London in the summer sometime right now.

Thanks Dartanion. I was using a U-Brands razor tip in this sketch.
Looked them up. At $8 a piece those make my Copic Multiliner Classic fineliners seem low priced all of a sudden. Hail Copic!

When I was in school in the 1990's we all had to take architectural lettering training. I'm not sure if they still do that.

wth my dream is to sketch stuff like this and become a full time sneaker designer and u can do it in 20 minuts!!
Don't get discouraged, I've been a professional for 20 years. When I was starting out in the 1990's it might take me a week to get to that sketch!
