    I've used this mic clipped to my visor in a car for audio recording. It does a good job of rejecting background noise and not thinning the voice too much. And by going overhead plosives aren't a problem.
    Great video again!

    Honnestly it sounds great. I have a Zoom with mutliple mics, including all Zoom-mics and a 1200 eur Sony Shotgun mic, Sanken Cos-lav mic etc etc... but something like this is just practical and sounds more than just decent. Ordering it riiiiiiiiight now. THanks bud!

    Glad you turned the mic around while filming the plant, (it made me giggle). 🤣. It sure sounded different. Had no idea the sound could change so drastically depending on the camera it's plugged into, or the angle and direction of the mic. The treated rooms verses non treated rooms etc. Thanks!
    What I found most intriguing was how well it sounded outdoors when camera was turned towards you verses away from you. It sounded a lot better than when you went into the untreated room indoors, or spoke to the cat and said "awe what-ever". Hahaha! Sounds like something i'd say. 😉 good review! You're very talented. You put a ton of work into these videos. Hope it pays off for ya! ✌

    Dude, thanks for the review. Very impressive little mic regardless, but especially for the price. Glad you mentioned the iPhone 12 footage. I have the 11 and have been contemplating the 12 thinking it might have better low light performance. Yikes, doesn't look like it! Any thoughts? Thanks and sorry for the tangent.

      Yeah... it was rough video quality on the 12 pro for sure. It seems like iPhones, and Phone Cameras in general, struggle with videos that have really dark objects (my wall) and really bright objects (the subject). They just don't have the dynamic range that bigger sensor cameras can achieve. Had I been in a room with a lighter wall and overall brighter scene, it would have done a much better job. They do a great job outside in daylight also, but that black wall REALLY throws them off.
      If you were only going to upgrade to improve your video quality, I would probably wait.

    The headphone jack I believe is just a passthrough for the headphone signal from the TRRS plug so you don't lose out on the ability to connect headphones to the same jack as the mic. If there is latency there it's being added by the host device. Some powered mics have a jack that lets you monitor the mic before it goes off to the host device, but that's usually because those mics have a USB audio interface integrated into the mic so it's doing amplification and the like in the microphone.

      Oh the bad video quality on the iPhone looked like it had a beautiful filter. It seemed to be smoothing out your skin and making your lips pinker 🤣🤣 does the iPhone have such a thing by default?

    You definitely need to check out the Deity D4 with a microphone in the front and back! Super awesome choice for Vloggers or creators because it sounds better than most other shotgun microphones of this style!

    Awesome review. Does the duo use the same mic as the vxr10 pro?
    Appreciate that you also put in iphone audio examples 🤙🏽 I'm thinking of using my phone as my third/fourth camera for certain events. Btw if you did that iphone scene with the ultrawide lens that's why it looked like that. If you used the standard lens then no idea lol
    Looking forward to more videos. Tons of mics out there 🥲
    I'm currently considering getting a stereo mic for my r5. Considering between the sennheiser mke 440 and rode stereo x. The new Azden smx 30v or Comica traxshot could have been perfect but I'm not sold on their audio quality.
    If you've ever had an experience with any of these mics or looked at their specs, would appreciate helping me choose 😵‍💫

    I tried this in my home office just above the camera line of sight, I clipped it to an overhead Architect lamp on my desk that I already had. This is very similar to the viewer who clipped it to the visor of his car. You can do this because it only weighs 2 ounces, not 2 pounds.

    Enjoyable & informative video good job. I would like to ask you if you would know if this pro microphone would be good for recording drums and especially recording drum cymbals. Previously I've used my internal microphone that comes with my mid-range Android Samsung cell phone in video mode and after recording, you could hear that my cymbols are clipping and some mostly distorted so I tried an external microphone called Smartmic UC Mini that attaches through the USB c-type cable but unfortunately basically just about the same results. Do you think that this Pro microphone would resolve my issue making my cymbal sound clear without distorting or clipping? Or would this be more of an inferior Android cell phone recording issue. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.

    What is with the headphone output jack? I can't ever hear / audit anything when using on Canon M50 or Galaxy S10. What am I missing?

    • @Autotrope
      @Autotrope 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It just passes through the headphone part of the TRRS cable. If you're not using the TRRS cable or you're plugged into something that's not outputting any audio you won't hear anything. The purpose is just so you're not tying up your headphone port while the mic is plugged in.
      It's equivalent to those TRRS to separate mic and headphone adapters

    7:12 Man, that high-pitched tone in the background, when you're outside with the mic plugged into the Canon, is super annoying. As you mentioned, camera amps aren't the best, but I'm wondering whether all mics plugged into that camera make that noise, or if it's an issue with this mic. That's a deal breaker.

    • @AudioHotline
      @AudioHotline  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That was actually an external noise, not the mic at all. We live kind of close to a hospital and I have noticed when the life flight is about to land, or take off, that noise starts happening, it’s a pretty annoying noise. Luckily we can’t hear it inside.

    • @danmagoo

    And if you should happen to answer this comment and tell me about MFI adapters, that won't be helpful. I'll send you a photo of my pile of cables, adapters, dongles, (I don't even know how to spell dongels, dongles, blah, blah, blah). I'm disappointed, no, disgusted with this mic.
