- i spent two weeks volunteering at a sea turtle conservation on nusa penida, an island right next to bali! this is part one, tune in next week for part two! working with turtles and meeting people from all over the world was an indescribable experience and i highly recommend International Volunteer HQ to anyone and everyone!

I went by myself and it was amazing!! There’s plenty of other volunteers who also go by themselves so everyone is looking for friends!! I would highly highly recommend going, it will change your life!!

You should do a Q&A or FAQ video about International Volunteer HQ. I have so many questions. But my first one is, do representatives of IVHQ come and stay with you guys?
I totally will film an ivhq q&a!! That’s a good idea :) there are ivhq coordinators who help run the program and the house you’re staying in and stay on or near the area!
Hey ! So I got back from my trip here this week and have just watched your video back to now recognise everything! So cool to see and thankful on how well you prepared us ! The sanctuary is now covered in peoples names and drawings ( we struggled to find a spot ) which is amazing! Unfortunately all the big turtles you talk about have left but there were plenty of babies ! It was also soo much busier this year with over 100 volunteers, making us feel a little less needed but great to see that many people go !! Thanks for your video and help :)

Yes it’s mostly young adults and people in their twenties! Of course there’s people of all ages and everyone makes sure everyone feels included, but a majority are in their twenties
So interesting to see what all goes into this experience, the baby turtles have my heart! 🥺🐢Such a beautiful place!!!

I’ve been researching IVHQ lately because I’m interested in volunteering and traveling but I’ve been skeptical to travel alone and also you have to pay on the website a fee, from what I’ve read anyways. Great video! Very informative and insightful!
What was the fee to go to Bali?
i highly recommend bali or nusa penida with ivhq!! I traveled alone and had no problems, the coordinators are wonderful people and super helpful!!
I think the fee was around $300 when I went? It kind of counts as a deposit so they know you’re serious about going

Aww thank you!! IVHQ is not free but it can definitely be a lot cheaper than some other options! It includes all accommodation and all meals, and potentially pick up and drop off at the airport! The coordinators also helped us plan any activities we wanted to do, which was super helpful! And of course the most important part is getting to volunteer for such an amazing cause. It’s definitely worth it!

Yes we were!! We had to move the adult ones and the babies from their tanks in order to clean them and the tanks so we got very comfortable with holding them!!

We did it through Blue Corner Dive in Nusa Penida!! I don’t remember how much it cost but it wasn’t that expensive! We did have to pay with cash though which is pretty normal in Bali.
Hey!! I have a couple questions about IVHQ, is it safe for younger people to go? I want to go right out of high school but I wasn't sure if other people my age would be doing this trip and if it's overall a safe option. I was also wondering, do your coordinators drive you around? or do you kind of have to "fend for yourself"?
I highly recommend doing this at any age!! Some of my best friends I got out of volunteering were 17/18 and they fit in perfectly. Totally safe. I never felt unsafe the whole time. You can get your own taxis but oftentimes you can just tell your coordinators where you want to go and when and they will find a taxi driver for you, just let them know a day beforehand

Hey, do you know if you can participate in a two week round trip all around Bali before/after the volunteer work?
A trip on your own? You can show up to the volunteer house whenever you sign up and then you can stay in Bali if you want!

I just got the regular room! The upgraded room is just one person or one couple in a room :)
Would you have done longer or did you think the 2 weeks was perfect?
I totally could’ve gone longer! It just depends how much time off you have to be able to volunteer. I wouldn’t go any less than two weeks for sure 🫶🏼

I went by myself!! But there’s always plenty of other people to make friends with and then you can travel together!
Do you have a HQ, where you sleep, and leave luggage and valuables?
Yes! There’s a volunteer center which is basically like a hostel where we keep everything!
Did you have to get divers training?
We just had a session in a pool with the scuba gear the day before we went, but we didn’t have to get certified!
What are you using to record?
I just used my iPhone 13! Pretty good quality and much easier to transport :)

This is actually through international volunteer hq! The host is green lion Bali but you apply on the ivhq website :)

@rubyelenagrajalesmontoya2285 the turtles was in Nusa Penida but the main volunteer site is in Ubud. But this volunteering isn’t through Worldpackers it’s through International Volunteer HQ so I don’t think you’re going to find it on Worldpackers

Yes I totally would!! The coordinators at the volunteer sites really make sure you’re taken care of and it’s an amazing environment to work in!!
Is there any place away from worldly affairs where there is an atmosphere of peace, where there are mountains, greenery all around, flowing waterfalls, where the heart gets peace, where introspection can be done, where there is solitude, where one can do yoga, where one can experience heaven, where one can work as a volunteer? You can stay for as many days as you want, where you can live without money, where you can stay away from depression. If there is such a place, then I want to go there for some time or for the whole life. I want to stay away from the noise of the world. Is there anyone there? such a place😢

Im 16 and wanna volunteer so I got permission and everything but do you think I will find friends there and can do stuff there with 16 or not?
If you feel comfortable going at 16 yes you will! There’s definitely a lot of younger adults (like 18-21) and I know some teenagers/families might go as well!

@user-oy4pb4tx8i if you’re only in Bali/Indonesia for two weeks, you can just get a visa on arrival when you go through customs! It’s super easy, but definitely check out any requirements based on your home country in case they’ve changed anything 🤗

No it wasn’t included in volunteering! There’s a scuba facility down the road so the instructor there took us!

I went alone and I made so many friends! Most people go alone so everyone is super friendly and inclusive! As long as you’re friendly everyone else will be friendly to you!!
