As Russian I want to say, that most Russians thinks the same. Some thinks you're good, some thinks you're bad, some thinks that there is a problem in government, some thinks you don't know what is actually going on.

Музыка, телевидение, фильмы и общее отношение к ним не имели ничего из неофашистского узкого фанатизма и враждебности нынешнего времени. Просто тупое и агрессивное меньшинство сохранило свою маленькую коррумпированную группировку на заднем плане, обманом пробилось к власти и в течение последних 20 лет или около того постепенно усиливало свой контроль и постепенно закрывало все, что ему не нравилось. Есть проблема и в русской культуре в целом, но она не такая огромная, это все же меньшинство. Большинство русских, получив реальную свободу слова, говорили бы такие же умные, взвешенные и рациональные вещи, как большинство людей в этом видео.
Вы написали про пропаганду с обеих сторон. Может быть вам попадались видео от западных стран 1-2 годичной давности с пропагандистскими высказываниями в сторону СНГ? Пытаюсь найти что-то подобное, но нахожу речи только в сторону президента РФ, а не страны в общем. Может ищу неправильно, должно же быть что-то.

@@arthurdalton1397 There are issues with western press and media, for sure, but it's a far cry from Russia's situation where all opposition activism has been banned as 'extremist', all journalism that reports something different to the goverment account, even speculatively, is prosecuted as 'discreditation' with a possible 15 year prison sentence, and all opposition media has been shut down now for a year or more, with a culture going back for years of blocking opposistional media, tagging them as 'foreign agents' and even no small number of assassinated journalists and opposition activists. There just is no comparison. A social media post by an individual that just a couple of friends saw that disagreed could land someone in prision for 15 years. Just this week they imprisoned someone for a private phone conversation.

I do know many foreigners, And almost all of the are nice and not thinking ill about a person because of his nationality. I like the opinion of one British who said that soon it will be a land of planitary people, those who can not tolerate each other but love. There are two main things to be aware of with 'polls' in Russia. 1. They do them by phone, and most of the time the caller knows exactly who they're talking to, or it's easy enough to find out. They use landlines, and people are registered at those addresses. So, a survey on any situation relating to politics is seen to likely be being carried out by the state itself, and then there is a fear of what giving a truthful answer might lead to. Even if this is a mistaken view, this is people's perception. So how many of them, do you think, are going to say they don't support the current 'special military operation' when a declaration of such a point of view can potentially land you in prison for 15 years? True, it's a phone conversation, and not a public expression, so shouldn't land you in prison, but what's people's feeling all the same? And how might the law change? And might it come back to haunt them later? And what about all those people who went to demos and were 'outed' by the authorities and lost their jobs, etc? 2. There's a huge refusal rate for these surveys, so, if you were just to assume that only half of those refusing to answer were doing so because they didn't want to have to lie that they agree, i.e. they disagree, that would mean the vast majority are against the 'special military operation'. Because that would be maybe 45% of the population, compared to the maybe 10% who actually answer. It's hard to say what the agreement level is in Russia, but a big clue is that the government feels a compulsion to ban all disagreement, to close down all opposition media, and to imprison people for public declarations of disagreement. Why would they do that if they were confident of support? They've even just jailed someone for expressing his opinion in a private phone conversation. And the judiciary doesn't even follow their own laws any more, it's just arbitrary, and the people know this. So how many open expressions of disagreement do you think you're likely to get when you phone the house of someone to carry out a government survey, and when the passport details of that person are usually registered to that address and phone number? There's also the fact that they are always done via landlines, and it's generally the older generation, more conservative, and also far more likely to be watching state propaganda, who still use landlines these days. Russian opposition folks, like Max Katz or Mikail Khodorkovsky, or the TV Rain people, or Navalny's Team, or Gary Kasparov, etc., etc., etc., generally seem to agree that there's maybe a 15-20% support for the government's actions (that being, as these people fairly point out, from people also misled and misinformed via propaganda), maybe 25-30% disagreement, and everyone between is either in denial and doesn't intend to have any opinion, or is confused and doesn't really know. Another indicator is what kind of questions you ask. If you ask 'are you for or against the President's actions?' you get one statistic, but if you ask 'would you like the war to end tomorrow?', you get another.

I'm ashamed to be originally from orkistan as well and initially when war has started I was lying about my origins (I'm living in Ireland), but later I completely changed my approach. The best way to do it is if you have Ukrainian friends, reach out and they will explain further. Otherwise you can find official channels where you can make a donation. To summarize, the best metaphor for tankies invasion is imagine if a rapist with a knife is trying to enter your home in the night. Would there be a lot of philosophical debates or you'd try to defend your family and your own life? The answer is painfully simple.

The part about poor Russians not getting correct info...get this. Most of Russians have friends/ relatives living in Ukraine, who can tell them everything about the reality of war. But, they: 1) think their relatives are brainwashed and are lying to them, 2) just ignore them. It's my personal experience.
It's psychology. Most Russians don't have an other chance than staying in Russia and therefore if they don't want to end up in jail they have to stay quiet. And that's why it's easier for their psychological health to believe the lies of their government as to believe their relatives.
Because do you want to think that your country that you like and support and where you have to live is throwing bombs on your relatives. No you don't want to believe that and that's why it's easier to believe the government.

I know Russians who live in Russia and who have relatives in Ukraine, and they believe everything their relatives tell them, and are appalled at what their own government is doing. To say 'most' have relatives in Ukraine is probably an exaggeration too. 'Many' for sure, but probably not 'most'. And, as I say, we can hear these stories about those RuZZians who won't listen to their relatives, but that doesn't mean that they are the majority. The 'opinion polls' are very flawed. Most people just hang up the phone because they know it's dangerous to disagree. All who agree answer, most who don't just hang up, say they have no time to answer, etc., and only around 10% actually answer, so the polls tell us nothing about popular support. Disagreement can get you 15 years in prison already, and for a long time it's meant the threat of losing your job.

Кстати за время видео я часто слышала, что люди не знают, что говорят русским насчёт причин войны.
У нас это объясняют тем, что под властью Украины есть донецкая и луганская Республика
И на Украине существовала террористическая организация "Бандеровцы" эта организация около 8 лет терроризировала эти республики, даже есть словосочетание "дети Донбасса", которое говорит о многочисленеых детях на Донбассе, живших 8 лет в подвалах из-за бомбежек и правительство Украины поддерживало это. И несмотря на все переговоры это продолжалось и теперь Россия останавливает этот терроризм на Украине
Ещё я слышала, что была какая-то причина связанная с Украиной и НАТО, кажется это было связано с необходимостью предотвращения размещения на территории Украины вооружённых сил США и НАТО, но я не углублялась в новости.
Вот из того, что говорят новости по поводу войны. Если честно я перестала пытаться разобраться, где правда, а где нет. Мой учитель по истории очень сильно верит в историю про детей Донбасса, поэтому он пошел добровольно на войну, чтобы защитить этих детей. Поэтому все это у меня вызывает смешанные чувства. Война это такая вещь, где правду ты можешь не узнать и до конца жизни. Все страны выставляют все только в таком свете в каком им выгодно.
Я просто в ужасе от того, как людей насильно сгребают на эти полигоны, затыкают рот митингующим и стравливают народы друг с другом. Это ужасно. Просто рада, что я девушка и меня насильно не отправят в армию
А ты приезжай и пообщайся с беженцами с Донбасса. В Ростов на Дону, там не стреляют. Я общалась......Уж они то лучше знают кто в них стрелял....Глядя глаза в глаза и перебивая ноги, заточто нп сказал "слава бандере". Но это непопулярная история на западе, ведь вам демократично приказано не верить в детей с Донбасса.......

Любая война - это экономика. Предлог может быть любой, повод всегда один - ресурсы. Мы живем на территории, которая уж слишком богата ресурсами и все войны против нас велись с одной только целью - их захватить. Как во время второй мировой вывозился чернозём с Украины, так это происходит и сейчас.
У США война в принципе официальный бизнес. Где стоят американские базы? Правильно, где есть ресурсы, которыми можно поживиться.

Закончатся украинцы, есть ещё поляки и прибалты. Война не сейчас началась, и не а 2014, война против нас ведётся не одно столетие. И первые чудовищные санкции были введены еще англичанами больше 200 лет назад.

Хорошие новости - ядерной войны не будет. Поэтому учитесь хорошо, учитесь анализировать информацию, мыслить критически и тогда ваша жизнь, за которую ушёл сражаться ваш учитель истории, сложится хорошо.

I get the idea behind saying cant neccisarily trust the opinion polls, but regardless some could still say what their views are of those ruzzians that support the invasion of Ukraine. Its also great that many people in the UK have had some good experiences with Russians/ruZZians, theyve got to realize Russians studying or living in the UK especially prior to the invasion arent typical Russians, just like those from any British living in the US arent typical British since like the British most Russians not move to another country or study in another country, those that do will more likely be inclined to western societal norms if theyre living in the west. For instance would these same people still think a good portion of Russians are good when 43% want to make gay and lesbian activities illegal with 20% wanting gays and lesbians exterminated. While yes 47% do want equal (at least in 2019) for lgbt people, the other half of the country doesnt. One could say this is only one issue so it can be worked around, but its likely not the only issue that thered be a clear divergence on, and after how many issues does it take to at least recognize that half the population are ruzzians who regardless of any attempts to educate, to try to open their eyes to try and give them accurate information, theyll never accept it and will refuse to change. At best one could say I like those Russians who hate Putin and recognize the war crimes being committed by their countries government & that russians had opportunities to avoid this but became complacent, while I detest those ruzzians who regardless of facts they will never accept the reality of whats occurring; that its more likely that the younger a Russian is the more likely the can see whats actually occurring while the older they are the less likely theyll admit ruzzia is committing war crimes. So based on statistics it more likely that even if a person has been brain washed by their govt, the majority (since most ruzzians arent youth) allowed that to happen by allowing themselves to become complacent. They went in front of tanks in massive protests in 1991, in 1993, in 1917 putting their lives at risk in all 3 instances, being pacifist protesters obviously isnt going to work in russia as evident by any of the protests in the 2000s, 1905 and to an extent with the Decembrists. Saying peaceful protesting doesnt work is an excuse not to put their lives on the line because its easier to say nothing and save your own hide while people in another country are having war crimes committed against them by a government that you and your fellow citizens allowed to consolidate power. Just like with the English and American Civil Wars, it sucks but sometimes you have to fight your own people and accept the risk of death otherwise at best only people in your own country will suffer if its citizens refuse to rise up, at worst your country will continue to commit acts of genocide
