When I saw the title. I knew I had to watch this! I rode on the Seaboard Coastline Railroad Silver Meteor, Silver Star, and Silver Comet in the 1960’s. Wonderful memories of my family and me boarding at Penn Station in New York City and arriving in Sebring, Florida. Good times! 😃
Sorry we missed your live presentation. We’re riding the Silver Meteor on Tuesday afternoon (Cleveland to DC on the Capitol Limited, then DC to Orlando). It will be our first time in a Roomette. We’re super excited. Happy New Year to you both.
Happy New Year!!! Sorry I missed the Live. We took the Silver Star from Philadelphia to Winter Park (just north of Orlando, great small station and not so busy as Orlando), we just got off yesterday!! We love train travel. Thanks for all your tips. We have never been seated with anyone else in the dining car and our trip north was on Dec 20-21 when there were more travelers with Christmas. But I think they do a great job with staggering the meals and people do eat in their rooms alot!! We've never done that but we like getting up and walking to the dining car and enjoying the food there. Anxious to hear about your cruise too!! God bless you both.
For some reason when I took the Meteor recently, the Traditional dinning did not include the appetizer, where as it did on the California Zephyr. Also, arriving in Miami on either train is quite a let down. The station closes shortly after arrival, and passengers are dumped out onto the street to fend for themselves in a very seedy part of town. Uber and Lyft are the order of the day. But, even they can be undependable, as I had several no shows trying to my hotel near the cruise port.
Happy new year, Rob & Allie!🎉✨️💖🕊💫 🛤🚇🚆🚅 Watching on the replay -- I'll be sure to share news of this video with a co-worker of mine who's interested in riding one of these Amtrak trains to Florida. Thank you, and I look forward to watching your videos (on all of your channels) throughout 2024.💕
For Yugilover1 (KC to NYC), taking Southwest Chief to Chicago will be the first. And then there will be 2 options from Chicago, depend on what day it will be. There will be Lake Shore Limited every night at 9:30 PM (20 hr ride) (traveling down from Albany along the Hudson River and arrive at NY Penn Station) and there will be Cardinal every other day at 5:55 PM (28 hr ride) (traveling under New River Gorge Bridge, going through Baltimore MD, Washington DC, Philadelphia PA, NJ [apporaching Manhattan skyline under the moonlight], and cross the Hudson River to arrive at NY Penn Station).
How can you reserve a room on the train from the train cart behind the engine? And are there rooms on the bottom part of the train and how can I reserve those? I have reserved a bedroom with the shower on the last cart train, but it was swaying a lot side to side and I couldn't sleep. Do you have any advice for me?
This depends upon where you board and where you are going. Western trains pretty much restrict folks with mobility issues to the lower level in cars, as there is a steep stairway in western trains. For most eastern trains, there is only a single level. Many stations will have a lift to raise you from platform to car level.
Hi, I will be traveling on the Amtrak Silver Meteor in April. We board the train at 6:35 PM, do you know if we will get to take advantage of the dinner service , because we are boarding that late. We are in a roomette.
I have ridden the Silver Star a few times from NC to Orlando Fl and a few times from NC to Newark NJ. I keep reading that the Silver Star is Amtracks most popular long distance train so I am wondering why they don't have the latest and most modern coaches and sleepers available.. I know they are upgrading but your most popular route should be given priority for new equipment.
We recently were riding the Silver Meteor from Ft Lauderdale to New York and it got cancelled by Jacksonville because of a derailment in Georgia We had to haggle with there customer service for a refund What is your experience or what is there policy We a great deal of trouble in general Thank you Richard

Drove from 🇨🇦 to Brunswick Me. Took the Downeaster to Boston, Acela to NY, then Silver Meteor to Orlando and back. Great trip👏🚂

Nice to know that traditional dining is back on on the Silver lines. The Crescent and City of NOLA also need the traditional dining back

Happy New Year
Love your presentations. Although sometimes the volume automatically adjusts itself to lower, so it is hard to hear you.
Thank you guys for the info. I have never taken a train. LOL but I will this year 🚞🚂
Hello 👋🏽
Sorry, I lost my signal at the end. So you didn't get a chance to hear me say: "T-th--th-th-th-that's all folks!"🐷
Hi Rob & Allie. Love your channel! Is there a way to find out where the fresh air breaks are on the Silver Meteror?
Alot of times when I book a trip on those trains I can't go on the day because there not enough sleeper cars on those trains
Try booking a lot earlier. You get a better price (usually) and a better chance of finding an unbooked room.

Why not ask Amtrak?

Is there a way to verify you are booking a roomette in a viewliner 2 instead of viewliner 1?
We recently were riding the Silver Meteor from Ft Lauderdale to New York and it got cancelled by Jacksonville because of a derailment in Georgia
We had to haggle with there customer service for a refund
What is your experience or what is there policy
We a great deal of trouble in general
Thank you
Richard
Do I have a choice to book a roomette with the sink and toilet inside? Which train, silver star, or meteor would have that option?
How you make sure to get a view liner thanks
How can you afford your Amtrak travel.
