Okay but here's the thing.... What if Lane or Jordan or Landon get hurt protecting Saquon..... Or do you play Saquon with all the backups? Cuz Saquon himself says this O-line has made a difference in his game.
10000% agree with you Chris. In order for him to even have a shot the entire offensive line would have to play. And Jalen is a big reason he had the year he had and he ain't playing either.
I’m sad Siriani already said no to SB26 to play. I’m hopeful on game day he gets to play 1 quarter. Why not get both? Record breaking and making history and a chance to win it all.
It's not fear of injuries. It's REST. For years teams who have made the playoffs said having a week off to rest/heal/rejuvenate before playing your first playoff game is big. At this point of season players are banged up, and also mentally fatigue. Taking a week off gives you more time to heal your body, walk away from the physical and mental grind, and start the playoffs with fresh legs. If the Eagles play starters they are sacrificing rest to TRY to get a record, they just might not get. What if the eagles play starters and by half time he has 50 yards? Do you continue to play starters? If you sit starters at halftime, wasn't it all just a waste of time? While the Eagles are playing starters, some other possible opponents are resting starters.
The record isn’t just for Saquon. it’s for lane Johnson, it’s for Jordan mialata, the rest of the o-line. It’s for Jeff stoutland it’s for all the hard work stout put in his whole career.
saquon 2k can easily take one handoff to the house for 70 and then ur only left w/ 30 yards to go… put the starting offense on a 1 or 2 quarters than pull them once he beats the record and u think hurts is back in the groove of things. i’d rather regret going for and not getting than not getting cuz i didn’t go for it
Sorry people dont pay $200 for tickets to see backups play. Just like the NBA the NFL needs to implement rules to prevent this. Fans pay to see the starters play if they are not injured.
2 things to consider: 1) the Giants aren't gonna let it happen. They will put 11 guys in the box because it means nothing if Jalen throws for 900 yards and they lose 77-0. They will sell out to stop the run and take every shot at Sa that they can. 2) what happens to team morale if they try and don't get it? We're talking like it's a guarantee, but he's had 5 games this year when he didn't have 100 yards
SB is honestly not about records. It's never been his thing. Evidence: earlier in the season when he was only few yards from his career best and told Siriani to let the young guys get theirs. Also, you are not just risking a Saquon injury but all of the starting O-linemen that they will need for a playoff run. As a fan I respect SB and the Eagles for putting a title run above records.
This isn't even debatable anymore. It requires way more things to fall in place to reach the SB than simply breaking a rushing record. Yes, Saquon is having an epic season, and it would be great if he won it, but putting the best RB behind the best OLine is yielding very predictable and repeatable results. There's literally no reason why we couldn't have the same success on the ground next season without changing a single thing. The only thing that could stop us is bad luck, which nobody can plan for or expect.
Although I think the Eagles will win the Super Bowl this year, there’s no guarantee that that’s gonna happen but if Saquon gets 15 to 20 carries, he will break the NFL all-time rushing record with less carries than Dickerson in his record breaking season.
Play the starters in the second half when the Giants are already worn out. Although tbh I kind of agree with just totally sitting them. But feel like the second half thing could work.
Frozen Face😂😂 Remember what happened last week 18 Brown got hurt!!This is a life incentive 😂🏆. Totally agree 💯 with Chris advice about Jalen playing!!!!
Team gets a 2k yard rusher for the first time in a season and the fans still complain. Shut up and lets rest up. Its not just Saquon, everyone needs rest, bye week was 13 weeks ago
To avoid injury, Nick should prob cancel practice for the rest of the year too bc he might get injured there too right? What if he sits and we get bounced in the 1st round? Folks are making it sound like if he sits, we're guaranteed a super bowl.
As you Pro's always say "Football is a Violent Sport" "This is what we signed up for" So what if Barkley get's hurt in the 1Q of the wild card game then what? The record should be APART of the Journey on the way to the Ultimate Goal!
You have to put yourself in the best possible position to win. If you're gonna play Saquon, are you also gonna play the 1st team offensive line? You cannot put Saquon out there with second stringers. You can't tell a veteran like Lane Johnson he has to play no matter how he's feeling because we want Saquon to get the record. A guy like Lane can really benefit from a week off. Mailata was hurt earlier this year. AJ got hurt late last year and wasn't available for the playoff game against Tampa. They can lose in the first round no matter what but that has nothing to do with putting your team in the best position to win.
If Hurts should play to get in a rhythm, that means you'd want the offensive starters to play to be there to protect him, right? Then that means Saquon should be playing as long as they are out there too for a chance at the record. I feel if the starters get sat, then ALL of them should sit.
Jalen desperately needs reps he has to play at least one quarter a half preferably all starters including Saquon Barkley should be given a half time deadline to make it happen and then go from there just give him a shot to make it happen that’s anyone can ask 🦅💯🔥
Sitting week 18 doesn’t guarantee a Super Bowl… why do you people keep saying it does?!?!?!?!? Once in a lifetime opportunity to get this achievement as a team and they throw it away.
Would you rather have a fresh team with low morale because the coach ripped greatness from their grasp or a team that is rolling with high confidence because they achieved a legendary feat??
Yes, we have something more important to go after but nothing is guaranteed, injuries can happen anytime. And what if we don't even make it to the super bowl? What if we get bounced in the first f****** round... Saquon is gonna regret this for the rest of his life man !
Best part is the few minutes or so. 100% correct, cannot start slow in the playoffs and have to immediately establish time of possession and score early.
So the counter to he could get hurt Week 18 is you can rest him and he gets hurt in the Wildcard game. Whether they try for the record or not should not be about being afraid of injury as football is a contact sport so injuries can happen at anytime.
No ones going to be mad at the organization if he gets hurt in the playoffs. Him getting hurt in a meaningless game would be the dumbest thing ever. They played a meaningless game last year and lost aj brown use your head
It's not the same comparison though, if he gets hurt playing in the playoffs it is what it is. This game outside the record has no implications on our season

Even if he doesn't get hurt and they get knocked out, we still look like clowns. This is the only move to make right now.
Can Y’all like this, so they see it
Football is about competition, greatness, and honoring the fans who spend their hard-earned money to see the best players on the field. Saquon Barkley is just 100 yards away from making history-if he's healthy, let him play.
Fans don't come for load management; they come for moments like this. Facing a full-strength rival only strengthens the Eagles' dominance and shows respect for the game we all love.
Let history happen, and let the fans leave with a story they'll never forget.
A football fan.

Yes!!
@@jamesblackmon906 THANK YOU FOR ONE OF THE BEST TAKES I’VE READ 👍👍 WE THE FANS WANT TO RIDE ALONG WITH THE GREATNESS OF SAQUON’S & THE BIRDS AMAZING SEASON 😎🤩🤩🤩🦅 LETS BREAK THE RECORD AND TAKE THAT MOMENTUM ALL THE WAY TO THE SB 💪🙏😎🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅❤️
I think resting players makes the football gods mad
Getting that Russing Title puts the Gold Jacket on Barkley.
Thank you Chris!!!!! Been saying this all week!!
Loser
"Your oldest son being coached by his stepdad to a national championship"....fkn hilarious.
Chris!! You’re killing me on this take! You MUST give him a chance to go get it. The SB is a month and a half away. This record, which I could argue would be more memorable than a SB win, is only 1/2 a game away. When opportunities come your way, TAKE THEM!!
Okay but here's the thing.... What if Lane or Jordan or Landon get hurt protecting Saquon.....
Or do you play Saquon with all the backups? Cuz Saquon himself says this O-line has made a difference in his game.
@ you start everyone. I would be pushing management to let us go get it if I’m on that offense. That’s my brother. I have his back.
Chris long come on dude … as a eagles fan this is what WE WANT
Poetic is also saquon breaking the all time record against the team that didn’t want him
The cool thing about your discussion is, everyone has a viable point but "rolled ankle" wins the day for Chris
Yeah, just rest Lane. He's like 75 yrs old+ needs a break. 1/2 of the O line has to play anyway.
saquon 2k can easily take one handoff to the house for 70 and then ur only left w/ 30 yards to go… put the starting offense on a 1 or 2 quarters than pull them once he beats the record and u think hurts is back in the groove of things. i’d rather regret going for and not getting than not getting cuz i didn’t go for it
Frozen face😂😂😂😂
Beau Allen too fucking funny 😂
Goals are to be set and achieved. There’s more than 1 goal every season. Accomplish as many as possible. Imagine if we don’t win the Super Bowl
Sorry people dont pay $200 for tickets to see backups play. Just like the NBA the NFL needs to implement rules to prevent this. Fans pay to see the starters play if they are not injured.
You not even getting a standing ticket for 200
@ Yeah was just trying to generalize the price. Most teams prices are different. I probably should have said $300.
2 things to consider:
1) the Giants aren't gonna let it happen.
No shade.. but I wanna hear how somebody who’s broken a meaningful record feels.
If ifs and buts were candies and nuts...
I think they all should play 1st half with Hurts for chemistry!!!!
Chris, you're right. Let's not play him until the SB.
With your logic, this is the only way to keep him from being hurt or warned down.
He rushes more on his new team by going over 2k his first time and he has been healthy all games. That’s a win and a chance at the playoffs and SB.
150 more carries at 30 carries a game from week 18 to hopefully a Super Bowl is a lot. That's all I'm saying.
PEOPLE GOTTA REMEMBER PHILLY'S BYE WEEK WAS WEEK 5, 12 STRAIGHT WEEKS IS BRUTUAL..
Although I think the Eagles will win the Super Bowl this year, there’s no guarantee that that’s gonna happen but if Saquon gets 15 to 20 carries, he will break the NFL all-time rushing record with less carries than Dickerson in his record breaking season.
He’s going to play!
And have that record by halftime!
Its a 17-game record. It's not the same You can actually argue the same for Dickerson's record
Play the starters in the second half when the Giants are already worn out.
Although tbh I kind of agree with just totally sitting them. But feel like the second half thing could work.
YES CHRIS LONG, FINALLY A BIRDS FAN GETS WHAT'S IMPORTANT! Thanks, i thought i was losing my mind arguing about this
Frozen Face😂😂 Remember what happened last week 18 Brown got hurt!!This is a life incentive 😂🏆. Totally agree 💯 with Chris advice about Jalen playing!!!!
Team gets a 2k yard rusher for the first time in a season and the fans still complain. Shut up and lets rest up. Its not just Saquon, everyone needs rest, bye week was 13 weeks ago
Chris is preaching pure facts.
Jalen is also dealing with that broken finger.
Whats your take on Dan campbell playing his starters in a "pointless game" against SF?
Play it safe ! But would love to bring that record to Philly. Birdgang
I can see NY trying to hurt SaySay to prevent him from breaking a record against them. So no, test him and prep him for the SB
If we were watching the Cowboys go through this same situation, we would all be laughing about how stupid Dallas is for playing the starters
If I’m Nick. I look at SA and I tell him; you have one quarter to get the record, after that you’re out.
Imagine they sit out the final game of the season and still don't win the superbowl
I was watching this video as they announced they’re resting Saquon. I was torn on the issue but I think I’m happy with the decision.
Send him in in the 3rd to 4th quarter when the defense is tired. Give him 5 carries and see if he can get lose for a big one
4 million annually but his father still had to work. Yup what a struggle
This will hurt the Team’s chemistry moving forward if they don’t let him go for the Record.
Saquon is a cap and t-shirt guy. He’s got one, he wants two more.
Hell no! They lost AJ in game 18 last years. how did that work out for the playoffs?
All it takes is one dirty hit or fluky fall... that's all it takes. Keep them safe for the playoffs, please!
Bad karma sitting Saquon period!
Yes, we have something more important to go after but nothing is guaranteed, injuries can happen anytime. And what if we don't even make it to the super bowl? What if we get bounced in the first f****** round... Saquon is gonna regret this for the rest of his life man !
This is a stupid question. The Super Bowl is most important goal this is a team sport. 😅 go birds!!! Let’s gooo!!!!
What happens when somebody breaks the record in 2 years? That banner hangs on the wall forever
Best part is the few minutes or so. 100% correct, cannot start slow in the playoffs and have to immediately establish time of possession and score early.
Mathematically thet can't sit everyone 53 man roster right?
So the counter to he could get hurt Week 18 is you can rest him and he gets hurt in the Wildcard game. Whether they try for the record or not should not be about being afraid of injury as football is a contact sport so injuries can happen at anytime.
No ones going to be mad at the organization if he gets hurt in the playoffs. Him getting hurt in a meaningless game would be the dumbest thing ever. They played a meaningless game last year and lost aj brown use your head
@ Week 18 wasn’t meaningless last year as they still had a chance at the division if they won and Dallas lost.
@ dallas won their game by 40 and washington was done everyone knew it was meaningless
That's not the counter.
It's not the same comparison though, if he gets hurt playing in the playoffs it is what it is. This game outside the record has no implications on our season
Saquon can be the first to get 2k back to back
And what if Jalen gets hurt??? Some of this isnt make sense. We really dont trust Saquon to get it done and stay Healthy??? Is that what everyone is sayin? That they dont trust Saquon to do this without getting hurt? Pffft
