Good post. I totally agree that the defense has been decent in spite of Eberflus, not because of him. I've been saying this since shortly after he was hired.

Me too, I agree that Vrabel would be the guy that would bring discipline, accountability and a no BS attitude that the players have said they like and respect about Thomas Brown and I would like to see Brown stay on as OC too to keep continuity with Caleb Williams and if for some reason Vrable doesn't work out, I mean we ARE talking about the Bears here, Thomas Brown would have gained more valuable time and seasoning by then to perhaps slide into the HC job that he wants. Good breakdown and analysis like always Mason, much appreciated man.

i would be fine with the vrabel hire, but then we have to make sure we hire the right oc. if the oc is good then the next year they will leave for a hc job. defensive coordinators are extremely replaceable, but it's incredibly difficult to find the right offensive mind. we have a lot of options in the offseason. i think vrabel should be the last resort.

I agree! I want the Bears to go after Trey Smith for RG, then draft DT, DE and OG/OT in the first three rounds, then best available player. Maybe cornerback or safety, and more depth at RB and DL, as its a deep class. Due to the average OL class, I really don't like the idea of burning our early 1st rounder on an average OT, only for them to end up playing guard. If we were going to get an OT, we should have down it last years draft.

GEAT ANALYSES! Response to comment below mine - The Bears don't need discipline, accountability and no BS attitude. That's not their prob and hasn't been. We need a competent HC that makes early game adjustments before halftime AND late in games! TB got schooled the first half last game, adjusted at half and I can't wait to see what he learned to start game against SF.

RP & Co have done a great job of adding talent to this team but have not really built a team.
    - A team has to win on the line of scrimmage. thus, you need the following:
    - An oline that can run block and pass block
    - A d line that can stop the run and rush the passer.
We've always known that the Bears couldnt do either.
The oline has some talent but how long do you give these guys? Braxton, Tev & Amegadjie all have talent but do we really want to come back next year with:
Braxton, Tev, Sheldon, KA & Wright? Thats good talent but will it work?
On defense we have Sweat, Dexter & Billings. We probably need another Sweat, Dexter and billings to be a legit Dline.
The easiest thing to do on defense would be to move Dexter to DE, sign another nose tackle in FA and have a line of:
    Dex, NT, Billings, Sweat.
You stop the run with that type of Dline and then you either blitz more and/or have a NASCAR package on 3 down to get off the field.

Normally I agree with a lot of what I hear from you, but I couldn't disagree with you more on this video. The T2 is still the best defense to run if it can get the personnel for it. Live by the blitz, die by the blitz. When I was running an offense, I LOVED it when defenses blitzed. Get the counter right and they're done for.
Getting the right front 4 and putting 7 into coverage gives you a massive number of takeaway opportunities. It's not the scheme's fault that Poles couldn't fix the 3T position which is the absolute HEART of this defensive scheme.

      You're 100% right
Someone else mentioned the way I phrased it and I need to retract that and instead it's Outdated for us this year. With this weak of a line we have to adjust. We simply don't have the team for it this year.

Yeah the Yale Tackle is definitely a Red shirt 😅. 3rd Rd Velus, Pickens. If I'm Poles I'll pair 3rds and come up but I'm not sitting and waiting as my guy goes off the board then I gotta reach on a 4th Rd talent I like. Rather Poles take picks in his Red and Gold area. Then 4th-7th he’s actually hit better than the 3rd.

The bend don't break D only works when your team scores 30pts a game. If KC lost their DC, perfect spot. I like aspects, but you can use them like Fangio in a 3-4. He used the LBs under WRs in zone. Belichick runs whatever his talent says to run. We are Da Bears 🐻, don't know why we don't use our own Bear Defense 😳🤷🏻💯. 4-6 in this Nfl? Wow. Also like 5-2 fronts. You're sticking Edmunds in the Box when he should flip with Sanborn on those downs. Cover the TE, if he blocks Blitz. Get under in pass. The Wide 4-3 could work very good in today's Nfl. Pretty much you have a DE on 1 side, a 3-4 Edge on the other. NT, 3i. Which, Dexter got fast, now needs to add bulk 😅. Nfl is hard man. I like Single High CF Safety deep and using a Box Safety to Blitz, Help the run. Play the Hero position where you can play Nickle or wherever you wanna line up. Brisker and Gordon roaming around out there would be so fucking dangerous QBs Not knowing what's coming. They both might Blitz or man up. You get in their heads. Shit the run down and then, alot of guys make this mistake, but thennnn you go into a Eberflus type D in the 4th Quarter to slow them down. Take fewer risks etc. When your winning. When Brisker Blitzes and Edmunds goes up in zone to cover his area. You can't help that. You gotta attack Jaylon Johnson?!?! No thanks. 😅 The pieces are there but just like Chess ♟️. They are used all wrong.

This was brought up by the CHGO Panel, but I think it holds water quite a bit. If we go with Ben Johnson, the assistant coaches will be poor pickings. Dan Campbell will not let Johnson take a staff with him, just like Andy Reid did not let Matt Nagy take anyone with him. First time coaches do not get proven veteran OCs and DCs lining up to work under them. The same would be true of Thomas Brown. The flip side of that coin is that is you go with a defensive coach like Vrabel is that, like Eberflus, he is reliant on his OC running the offense and will either suck or be talented enough to get picked up by another team as a head coach.

  • @knowledgeuntamed9177
    @knowledgeuntamed9177 3 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

I think Thomas Brown needs to show alot. His team coming out playing on 🔥 the entire game is what I wanna see. Pretty sure he can call Timeout too ya know. Talented young guy FR. Head Coach I'm rooting for him. We should beat the 49ers by atleast 10. They are banged up, Purdy will be playing hurt so you gotta get to him early and often. Sell out to do so. I wanna see bro win games and win them by alot. Bill Belichick is interested and his DC and OC guys are dudes we would look at for Head Coach. Maybe Vrabel takes another year because like Ian Cunningham he hasn't found the right team and Ian and him can work together towards that. Ya see. So Vrabel could easily be DC. Vikings DC has the option to leave and come be our DC if Belichick signs. You don't keep a coach who wants to be somewhere else. Matt Patricia wasn't a great Head Coach, but he's your Backup DC and has been an Elite SB winning DC. Pry coaching you DL or LBs. Other side Bill O'Brien is a genius with QBs. Josh McDaniels again, may not be a great Head Coach, but under Belichick can he be a great OC? QB Coach. .Yeahhhh you bet your ass he can 😅. Belichick has interest. To me I'd put the chips in the middle and pair him with Poles. Former Giants Head Coach Joe Judge is likely your ST coach. The Texans are building the Patriot way for a reason.

The easiest thing to do on defense would be to move Dexter to DE, sign another nose tackle in FA and have a line of:

Thats one of the biggest Dlines in the NFL.
You stop the run with that type of Dline and then you either blitz more and/or have a NASCAR package on 3 down to get off the field.
You've got enough amazing cover guys int he back 7 to make that type of dline work.
Ideally, i'd love to draft Mason Graham and have:
    Dex, Graham, Billings, Sweat.
You can move dex inside on 3rd down to replace billings

i'm concerned that the offense will take a step back with thomas brown at interim hc. now he has more to worry about and it's crucial that they don't break caleb williams. i get that he has to audition for the job but i really don't think it's likely that he will be the answer. this could severely backfire. although i think caleb has proven that he is very tough mentally, so maybe it won't be a problem at all.

The Tampa 2 has it's purposes but it's not a one size fits all scheme.

@@Beardownsports Yep, I've been like a lone voice about the need to beef up both lines and the linebackers.

  • @donherion377
    @donherion377 4 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

Tampa 2 you need a fast, smart MLB like Urlacher and a great safety like Mike Brown...if you remember the best of the Lovie Smith era. Tremaine is no Urlacher and Brisker is out, and then you lose Billings...creates a big hole in the middle of your defense...and its shown the last couple games. And Montez is having an average year at best...so you are not generating pressure like last year. Lastly, head coaches should be head coaches, not DC or OC.

    • @Beardownsports

The defense for the Bears is not NFL worst in any category I can find. In fact they have held opponents to scoring 20 points / game on average !
The Red Zone defense has also been tops Defensively in the NFL !
The Bears 2ndary also was top in the NFL until Brisker went down & we see a drop off.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The 49 Sacks given up by this O Line however IS NFL Worst !
The 331 yards lost to sacks is NFL Worst !
The O Line rarely has a push forward - look at those RBs Swift / Johnson yards / carry ! Bottom of the NFL stuff !
Sorry Adam but I disagree with you here & the front 6 defensively have held their own noticed they used Sanborn more against the Lions because of the formations Detroit was using. Should have been at least OT & maybe a win with a real HC !
