You can be proud of yourself. And you're not an imposter. You're a real woman, facing real difficulties, and choosing to honestly share them. This is valuable ! And helpful !
I'am happy you gave yourself grace at the end of the video. What matters is that you make progress, and are consistent. If we can help you achieving that, it's great.

I think doing this before your therapy sessions is good for you. Decluttering brings up so many emotions, good, bad, sad, all of it, and it's good to deal with it with a professional while it's fresh. I hope your therapist sees how this is lifting a weight off of you mentally and emotionally like you show and tell us.
Another youtuber I have started watching lately is Shannon from Leaf Like on a Tree. She has a hubby and three kids, weight and health issues too, and has depression. Her two latest videos are Spring Cleaning confessions where she shares her experience with depression and how she has changed her mindset over the years while she deep cleans her house. If you check her out, I hope it helps!

Hi Libby! I'm much older than you (65) and have reached the "death cleaning" season of life. I've kept many of my kids things and have found that over time that some items remain important to while others don't. It's more than okay to keep those items that are special to you. Decluttering is a process and everyone's journey is unique. I subscribe to a number of decluttering channels - two of my favorites are Hoarders Heart and Peeling Away the Clutter. Thanks for sharing your journey.

It’s because you aren’t ready to be done. When you are done you have a tiny memory box or a memory blanket made out of the clothes, you can do it with things your love ones have given you. Give yourself the grace to know your body changes only keep a cupboard of clothes that you love to wear.

  • @21meema
    @21meema 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Something to consider is taking pictures of those items that help you remember things and making a memory book. It can be digital or physical but that way you can document the stories you don't want to forget and then remembering is intentional rather than a surprise. What I mean by that is you use the memory book when you are in the headspace to remember and not surprised by the memories and side tracked when you're trying to clean.

My darling sweetest Libby I am super proud of you ! You my girl are an inspiration 💚 you are doing a fantastic job. 2 things - remember the hardest part is actually getting the charity/donation bags out the house, goodbye gone. And secondly, keeping the goal small. Well done I didn't expect you to even take the 1st box out after doing the clothes on top but you did it 🎉 you need to clear your bedroom floor before pulling the next box out. So wish I could come hang out and give you a cuddle. You are always on my mind. Never thought I could care so much for someone I found on TH-cam. But I do and it's you. I'm not a crazy stalker 😅 not on the same continent as you 😂 just a 33 year old wife, no kids, no clutter. That person you mention packs things nicely well that's me. And guess what, I also battle with mental health and anxiety from my own traumas. And you inspire me 🪴💚

Maybe focus on something other than you might forget. That doesn't work for you so find something that will :-) Maybe taking pictures with back-ups so you can go through them, or think about what you are missing in life right now (space to play, run etc with your kid in the house/more time bc you need to clean less and pick up less) Whatever works for you is fine, you already know you can't keep everything which is the first step! Hope this helps a little, otherwise i might have some more tips (obviously to share, you don't need to do them if it doesn't help

As a person with trauma and ADHD, and has some struggles with memory issues myself, I completely relate to not wanting to let go of items. One of the best solutions I found for that is to keep a memory journal. Take a photo/cut out a piece of fabric etc and paste it in then write out what I’m feeling about it, and what I was going through in that moment. it helps a lot because then I can flip through it later to revisit those memories and one small journal takes up to far less space than many items. I know that’s hard to do in the middle of decluttering but maybe it could be something like creating a box of sentimental items to journal about as you find the time. Good luck on your journey!

Nice work on all those quick decisions and donations! Something that I see on those decluttering channels you mentioned that helps me is the saying, "if it's not a definite yes, it's a no". This is especially useful when I declutter clothes. Remember to relabel those totes so you will easily be reminded of what you're storing. :) Great video, I'm glad you gave yourself grace during this busy week.

Thank you! The consensus is to ditch the dress lol so it will go bye bye! So over the last 4 years I have been between 190-250lbs (250 being my current heaviest). I know that once I am in a less stressful home/mental space that I will prioritize my physical health. Thats why I decided to go with the last 4 years. But honestly most of it isnt my vibe anymore so im just donating most of it.

You are doing it! Every time you make a choice to let go if it needs to be let go, you are getting stronger. With the green dress….”I don’t like dressing in something that makes me stand out, draws attention to me, it makes me nervous. This dress did that,…. so, I am keeping it……..” ?? Give it up. You will find better things in your wardrobe that do not do that.

I'm proud of you, too, (not that the opinion of strangers should ever worry you! I say that because there can be cruel people on the internets - so don't take onboard anything but your own opinion on your life!) Anyway, you powered through that and in such a short time, I think your decluttering muscles must be strengthening. I will say about comparing yourself to others and feeling like they can do it better - keep in mind that there are people out here in the world at different stages of healing or just simply decluttering and working towards a life they have a vision of - and a lot of them are not at the getting everything right stage - they are in situations which mirrors yours, or worse or suchlike - you are a motivation for them - you are an inspiration to me - so that's not being anything near an imposter - that's lending a helping hand for those that might need the hand up.

This was brilliant, really enjoyed watching, you have done a great job decluttering. I would suggest firstly separating clothes to your and kids clothes. Then separate litter category, ie all dresses , all types, all trousers etc. Then go by category. I had 27 pairs of trousers, which i realised i really don't need that many 😂😂 But was only able to declutter when i compared them all and chosen what i love the most.
With sentimental clothes, I'd say prepare like 1 or two dedicated boxes and put all sentimental kids clothes in there and keep them. But at the same get rid of other clothes you enjoy less. You really don't want the negative memories, you want the positive memories in that box.
I'm glad you escaped him, it's brave and you've done the right thing. Now get rid of every item that brings those memories back.
    All my best

Wait, did you just put EVERYTHING in that box? Like winter and summer clothes on top of the sentimental? When you get to the next box to declutter,I hope that you will quickly take out the summer and winter and put them in two OTHER boxes. (You’ll come up with enough sentimental items to fill that first one but then you can label it and store it,done!) Try to organize “like with like”, otherwise you’ll always be going through the same boxes, over and over.😩
