    These DIY soap tray dishes are incredibly easy to make! All you need is one board from your local home center and you'll have about 30 of these awesome gifts! These are a perfect project if you are looking for a last minute holiday gift or going to a craft show! Keep those awesome bars of soap from dissolving and getting soggy by making one of these soap trays!
    So, if you’re anything like us, you love going to craft shows and picking up some handmade soap. They always have awesome scents and designs, but they definitely cost a little more than the cheap soap from the grocery stores. The problem is, after using the soap, the water doesn’t drain off and it turns into a sticky mess. Worst of all, the soap start to melt, dissolve, or just prematurely breakdown. If you’ve ever experienced this, then you need to build these super easy soap tray dishes!
    Hey! If you made some of these, let us know! We love to hear from our viewers when they were inspired by one of our videos! Don’t forget to tag us @spencleydesignco so we can check out your work!

    I would have liked them if they had some form of indentation or whatever its called. The soaps wil probably slide straight of. So something that will make it rest in a tini tiny valley would make them even better.

      That’s a great idea for a future iteration! We’ve used them for a few months now and the soap actually sticks really well. I think all the groves help grip the soap

      Thanks for checking out the video! The best thing to do is pick a wood that's naturally rot resistant like cedar. That's much more important than the finish

    How do you router the outside without the grooves tearing out?

    • @SpencleyDesignCo
      @SpencleyDesignCo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Use a sharp bit and you’ll have minimal tear out. Also come back with sandpaper to clean up the edges

    • @stevenlarson6125
      @stevenlarson6125 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ya, I have a brand new, expensive sharp router bit and all of my grooves tore out. Ruined most of a whole board. Gotta try again with a different order of things and see what happens. It'll take a lot longer to router all the edges before cutting grooves, so, not sure what I'm going to do.

    Great video. Very informative, to the point. But you could have gotten away with a longer video: being more specific on the measurement for how wide/long each piece is, where you marked to cut the grooves, etc. Different strokes for different folks, but I could have used a little more info on measurements. Otherwise great video man!!

    Ugh! Take a 5/4 x 6 x 8ft board and cut it into little blocks!? Seems a terrific waste of large material. Better to make such little trinkets out of scraps and leftover pieces. Yeah, I know wood is a renewable resource but using it responsibly should still be part of the plan.

    Cool idea, except you lost me when i saw your sexist t-shirt. In four quick words you’ve discounted women and non-binary folk who like woodworking, as well as men and non-binary folk who like glitter.

      Funny, as I looked at it, I simply wondered how I would put sawdust on a women’s shirt. We can’t make everything gender neutral. It’s ok for there to be gal, guy and other types of items. I am not going to take away someone’s rainbow, just because it doesn’t apply to me.
