For me, this is peak Zeppelin. They were so tight together, their individual talents were at another level. The four of them were just magic. I’ve been a fan since 1969. I still listen to them every day. The Best Rock Band Ever! 🔥♥️

Wasn't that just the most fabulous version of the song. I loved when you metioned how good John Paul Jones' bass line was.... and I smiled as he was playing that line with his feet.... His hands on the keys and his feet on the bass pedals. This is very similar to the original studio version... just with the added fact that they could also improvise around as well..... I get what you mean about Roger and Robert's vocals and their way of singing... I think the word you are looking for is "sinuous," like cats...!!!

Normally, when I listen to LZ live performances I am struck by Jimmy Page's guitar. They were all great professionals in their roles, there were only three of them playing but it was as if I heard an orchestra of at least 20 elements and they had perfect synchrony between them, even though each performance was not the same as the previous ones. Robert Plant sang blues adapted to rock like an old black bluesman. He was unique. But Jimmy Page enriched every performance with imagination, creativity and emotions. Wasn't he perfect? Let's leave perfection to the kids who graduate from the conservatory. Every great musician and artist of the past has become immortal because he changed the academic rules and struck the ears and hearts of listeners with new sounds, or, if a painter or sculptor, with figures and different colored mixtures, our eyes. With due distance, obviously, Mozart, Beethoven, Picasso or the impressionist painters initially scandalized the public, accustomed to something else. But, even now, we love their music and are enchanted by their paintings.

@lyndoncmp5751 For me it's the intimacy of the Danmarks Radio footage and the raw freshness of the performances that makes it special. I'm not so keen on the Albert Hall gig's acoustics - but it's a top quality performance no doubt.

We can argue the merits of one over the other but I don't think it's arguable that the Albert Hall sound recording is superior to the Danmark tv show. It's clearly a better recorded show.

Saw these guys twice. Paid $5.00 the first time and $6.00 the second. I always tell people you haven't lived till you've heard LZ's take on Ricky Nelson's "Hello Mary Lou."

I've always heard something a bit "exotic" in this song, specifically in Page's playing, that I can't quite put my finger on, Eastern European, North African or Middle Eastern. I don't know if it's the tuning, chords, progression, the way he bends the note, but it's so deep and soulful. "Bluesy", sure, but much more than that. Anyone?

In college all the football jocks were really into Led Zeppelin lV and then all rushed out to buy their next album Houses of the Holy which they all initially hated. "What's this shit?" I watched copies of that album get thrown like frisbees out of the jock dorm windows. Then two weeks later they all lined up to rebuy it. Jocks were always fickle.

Guys in the 70s weren't into weights or working out back then, girls weren't (most) attracted to that then, it was more your hair, clothes, attitude
