Watched this video and then did it with my horse Victor who was obviously abused by his previous people. Standing at the mounting block has been an issue and while I have worked on this and he has gotten a lot better, I wanted him to be even more confident in this part of our riding time together. It took him 3 or 4 tries, but the last try, I gave him relief at the mounting block, took my steps up and he stood there waiting. I was proactive and stood for a bit to pet him and then asked him to walk off. I rewarded that with ending our session and letting him go to eat some grass.

Talks about how the horse used to get distracted by things whilst the horse is getting distracted by the dog. 😂
Seriously though, love your videos. Thank you for this!!

Great video Ryan.. Thank you for taking the time to explain what she was trying to do at the first time of mounting (i.e. moving her hips away) and how you worked with her to get her relaxed. What a difference that makes.

excellent...i have been doing it wrong circling the horse around the mounting block ...you made all the sense as to why you shouldnt do it this way........ i see now where i have made my horse not want to stand next to the mounting block. and i have had more then one person tell me to do the circling on the mounting block!! thanks for this video.

You work so magic my man, I did this with my horse which is the worst fidget horse ever, and can’t Stand still for the life of him. It took a couple of try’s but after that he was perfect, thank you so much for putting these training videos on the Internet it has helped me tons with my horse❤

Hi Ryan love your training techniques I picked up on one cue she made that after you mounted her and then circled her you missed that she actually went back to the mounting block and touched it with her nose. Shows how well your technique is working but I would just like to acknowledge that she did respond to your cues but got a bit lost in delivery. Love your videos and please keep them coming I like to share them with my horse riding students as a great example. 🤓👏🇦🇺

Great instructions, must be an Andalusian thing, I struggle with my mare doing the same thing. Moves away from the block and takes off. She’s doing better, but will apply this today. I’m sure it will help us

Interesting & good to know. I had an incident where I fell backwards against the horse trailer when horse moved as I tried to get on the saddle. Luckily not hurt. It was hot that day & flies were bothering her. One of my sister's horses so we switched horses - no problem then.

So my horse stands still until I stand on on the top step of the mounting block. Then he either moves forward or backs up so that I can't get on. Should I do this same processes as shown in the video with my horse?

This video is going to be a game hanger going forward with our andalusian 😁😁. We also need help with him literally bolting forward when you put any weight in the stirrup even with his nose turned in. We'd be most grateful for help with this

This is great. I just love how you explain the thought process of both the horse and the human. Can you also tell me who made your saddle? It looks comfortable for both.

My mare do this when mounting and after mount she will dance around, not just going forward, I bring her into a circle but she back up too, she is good on trails just won’t stand still after mount
