I have Pnes I’m 66, have had this for a long time . Have had lots of trauma/ head injuries/ depression anxiety….. started noticing that when I have an episode I would recall an memory that caused memory loss in the first place as a child / teenager, for that matter young adult. I’ve had 5 concussions, which started them aggressively. They would happen in stores, for no reason whatsoever. My neurologist./ therapist both confirmed this is true. The only way to get help is not medication alone but with therapy. First hand experience it goes so deep you need that help . ❤
I help girls testify against their abuser’s in court and it actually cures these seizures because it’s a mental suppression problem. We all know how grief can effect our bodies and these seizures are no different. You have to be willing to deal in order to heal. Your case sounds complex and I think that you could really benefit from the power of hypnosis. You can use exposure therapy and hypnosis to help with the awe full memories. I have PTSD and I no longer have horrific nightmares because of hypnosis! Exposure therapy is really the major key to curing this!
Thank you Neil! Tyson is inspiring and it’s brill to hear how research is taking place and indeed how so many people can have their PNES/FND seizures stopped through effective treatment isn’t it!
My dad gets these when he sees doctors (not always) I'm guess it's a lot of anxiety. He gets really hot and sweats so so much! Than he goes unconscious and shakes for a bit. When he come back hes very very tired and kinda weak. Still a little sweaty. He talks as if hes waking up from surgery. Within an hour hes good to go besides being just a little tired. Can anyone relate and share their stories. Please and thank you all!
PNES is a mental suppression problem and exposure therapy is the key and the cure! I help girls testify against their abuser’s in court and it actually cures the PNES completely! People bottle up their anxiety and all kinds of stuff and then it unfortunately manifests itself physically. This is similar to how people can die from grief! You have to actually face the things that are causing the seizures and by confronting and exposing yourself to the source is the best medicine. If I had PNES then I would want exposure therapy. It sucks but you got to be willing to deal in order to heal from this!
Nice talk👍, nice questions ! kudos to the channel and dr Tyson, we also see ~ 25 % of our ‘epilepsy’ patients are PNES and some have co-occurrence of epilepsy and pseudo seizures I am based in Abu Dhabi, UAE at Cleveland clinic Abu Dhabi
Please start sending them to a psychologist that specializes in exposure therapy because PNES is a mental suppression problem and mental suppression drugs can make the seizures worse! I have years of experience with child trauma and abuse and the mental suppression that comes along with it. I actually help girls testify against their abuser’s in court and it completely cures their PNES so I know that exposure therapy is the key and the cure! The best mental medicine is for someone to confront their abuser in a safe environment or deal with the things that are causing severe anxiety that manifest itself into these seizures. These people who are suffering from PNES can be 100% cured of these seizures and then you explain to the patients how this works so it puts a stopper from these seizures coming back because they can come back if the patient suffers more trauma and if they bottle things up inside again! I hope that I can get through to everyone that I can find who has PNES because I really want to help!
6:05 - A common cause is Complex Trauma, which includes Post Traumatic Stress, an injury (no longer classed as a disorder) as it being an injury can be healed.
PNES is a mental suppression problem and I have seen people get worse from mental suppression drugs! I help girls testify against their abuser’s in court and it cures these seizures completely! When you push problems way deep down inside like a garbage compactor, these seizures can manifest itself physically the same way that people can die from grief. The answer is exposure therapy and lots of it! There’s many different ways or types of exposure therapy. Confronting whatever is bothering you and bringing it up to the surface in a safe environment, is the best way to deal with these types of seizures. Not too many people seem to really know this.
