Alex, kudos to you for keeping Andy “present” and part of the whole schtick. I so hope that he finds his way soon to peace of mind and toward a bright future. He’s a special young dude.
Imagine that if you’re tearing up just what the song means to those who heard this in the 70’s and are growing old with Stevie. When she sings this song as an older lady now, it carries even more significance and is devastating.
Stevie wrote this beautiful song before she and Lindsey joined Fleetwood Mac. It was winter, and Lindsey was on tour with the Everly Brothers. Stevie was staying at a friend's house in Aspen and was lonely and introspective. So she wrote this classic. It's gorgeous, and Lindsey's guitar work is amazing.
Somehow it figures. I stayed in Aspen in 1974 and it was a small mountain community like an old wild west town with a music conservatory. The rich skiers hadn't discovered it and it was surrounded by some of the most beautiful high mountain landscape imaginable. So, I could see how it would've inspired Ms Nicks to pen this tune.
"Landslide" is about accepting the changes and uncertainties that come with life, love, and pursuing dreams. The song's lyrics explore self-reflection, fear of making big decisions, and the passage of time. Issues that ultimately affect us all.
Her voice is like a cozy cabin in the mountains in the fall with the fireplace crackling, sitting on a sofa wrapped in a comforter, sipping on hot cider.
Really nice to see Andy even with it being a Patreon repost. And this song is just timeless. I could never tire of it. I know it’s been said *countless* times, but it really is time for y’all to watch Fleetwood Mac’s 1997 live performance of “Silver Springs.” It’s the performance from “The Dance” and is listed as the “Official Live Video” for this song. It must be watched, not just heard. You haven’t seen a thing on this earth until you have seen Stevie staring Lindsey down while singing lyrics that she wrote about HIM!!! And while all of that is happening, they deliver a breathtakingly flawless performance. You absolutely have to watch it.
My mom was a Stevie stan and I came to their music through her. I can’t listen without crying. It hits different when you become a parent. I’m getting older, too.
I think this is the perfect song for Andy right now. It talks about personal evolution from a perspective that might be of use to him given that he seems to be going through a similar passage of life himself.
I started watching not long after Alex joined Andy. I was new to watching music reactions, and after viewing a few different ones I subscribed to you guys. Seeing and hearing your reactions takes me back to my own reactions ‘way back when’ ( I’m 64 ). I hear similar views and also new viewpoints I missed. We use to sing this while she drove the car. Id sit in the front seat singing and smiling with her. I was around 10 years old and she was in her late 20s. I felt safe with her and never felt so loved and happy. She died of cancer 6 years later when I was around 16. I was in NYC (still am) and never got to say goodbye to her. Everytime I hear Stevie Nicks sing I think of those times in the car. ❤
Stevie wrote this song in Aspen, Colorado while she was living there, with Lindsey Buckingham. She was cleaning houses during the day and playing music at night. Before they joined FMac.
Glad to see Andy, lookin' good guys. What a song. I graduated from HS in 75, the range of music was incredible, you could go from a head banger that would bruise your brain to this and many others, so glad to have lived in those days.
Actually, it's one of the easier Mac songs. That acoustic is great but it's kind of standard travis picking. But...Lindsey makes even the easy sound great. His lead is perfect on it.
@@BillBitterman-ny2jl I was going to say the same, even a lazy travis pick sounds ok to the non guitarist. This song is on the easier side of Lindsey's repertoire.
Straight up Travis picking, possibly the easiest finger picking method and for a player as good as LB, a walk in the park. Not to say it’s not a beautiful piece of playing
Fleetwood Mac was my very first concert with my parents in 1978, I was 9…as an adult I saw Stevie Nicks live at Red Rocks on her own, she rarely did Landslide without Fleetwood Mac, but since she was so close to where she had written it she was inspired, told us the story of writing it and sang it for us, we were in the fifth row so so close to her and it was so genuine and authentic and heartfelt, one of the highlights of my life I would say. I’ve seen hundreds of shows all different genres and that is a stand out moment for sure, Love Landslide 💙💫🌌✌🕊
Great reaction. This was my Mom's favorite song. I lost her last year. I miss you Mom. I miss you every single day. I love you and I'll see you again someday.

I’m 67. Extremely open minded about ALL things music. I discovered the Pumpkins version many years ago. I feel Billy put every single piece of his soul into the vocal. The band is also very well orchestrated. It falls into the category of “I might like this version better than the original.” Hope yer having a great day….
Fleetwood Mac was the soundtrack of the 70s for me. But now that I’m in my 60s and my oldest child is turning 40 in a couple of weeks- this song hits like never before.
I remember falling in love with this song and waiting, listening to the radio, with my cassette player/recorder primed to record it when it finally came on.
When I listen with you guys, it's like I'm listening to it for the first time again. Yes, I heard the song thousands of times, but I still hear things I haven't heard before. ☮
The best thing I ever heard anyone say about Stevie Nicks was, "Stevie Nicks' voice sounds like a young girl and an old woman at the same time." -- Lex, from the "Brad & Lex" channel (reacting to "Dreams"). How perfect is that?
I always crank this song up when I'm driving, it's so beautiful. I read that Stevie wrote this song when she was unsure if she should continue the musician career with Lindsey Buckingham or go back to school. She was working multiple jobs, both artists were dropped from their contract with Polydor after the release of the Buckingham/Nicks album. Literally a "Landslide" happening in her life. Please check out that album, it is so beyond amazing! I'm so glad you listened to this gem and enjoyed it, big hugs to you both. Andy you are in my prayers 🙏🙏❤❤
This was the song my HS gf dedicated to me before we broke up and she left to go to university in another town. It hit me hard then as it still does today.
Fleetwood Mac “Fleetwood Mac” one of the most underrated albums (IMHO). Quote under my picture in senior yearbook 1977. How I felt about leaving high school. “Well I’ve been afraid of changing ‘cause I built my life around you. But time makes you bolder, even children get older…now I’m getting older, too.”
My favorite Fleetwood Mac song. Simple, yet so incredibly beautiful and powerful. This came out the summer before my senior year of high school. Everyone of my peers know every word. This was an incredible album - and so many of its songs were played on radio regularly. Great choice. Great video. Wish all is well for both of you.
Glad to see Andy in this re-post. This song reflects Andy’s struggle and I hope he heals and finds his way back to us soon. Sending love, prayers, and good vibes to you both. Love you guys and your channel.

It shocks me you have not heard this one before. It is played all the time still, and used in a bunch of movies etc. Beautiful song that always make me think of my dad who is deceased. He introduced me to Fleetwood Mac and Stevie & Lyndsey.

Although I have heard this song 100,000 times, it now hits differently after 2020. On March 16, 2020 the university I was working at shut down and sent everyone home and online. Faculty, staff and students were at home. I was one of the few remaining to keep the office open. It was an uncertain and grieving time. One of the faculty members slipped into her office one day and played this on her guitar and sang this song in the empty classrooms and stairwells. Her voice was similar to Stevie Nix. She posted it to the school website to reassure her students that this was temporary and would pass. There were many days I would play it to reassure myself. It’s been years and I’ve been retired for two years but I still cried with it today. I’m so glad that Andy got to hear it today. Bad times do not last forever and it is worth it to hang on.
Gorgeous song, beautiful Stevie, glorious Fleetwood Mac. Thanks Andy & Alex. I've loved every version of FM; their earlier lineup was so different. 💜🎶🎵🎶💜
The engineering of the recording is what makes this a masterpiece. I'm sure Lindsay had a TON of compression on each of the guitar parts but the sonic effect makes you feel like you are so close to the strings that each string is 3 feet in diameter. The 1970s were truly the period where record production quality peaked. Sure, TECHNOLOGY improved into the CD era and full digital recording but the USE of available technology combined with the musicality of the songs being recorded maxed out in the 1970s.
Been loving this song from the day it was released. This was my first Fleetwood Mac album. Bought it when it was put out in '75. To say I'm a Stevie Nicks fan is an understatement. Andy so good to see you even though I know this was recorded before your hiatus and the loss of the studio. Hope everything is getting better for you and that you'll be back with us soon!
One of those songs that the meaning of it changes every year as you get older too. Gotta check out their live version from the dance - amazing version!
Raise your hand if you've heard this song more than ten thousand times
And will listen to it ten thousand more times. :)
The meaning changes as you get older too, especially when all 3 kids are now in their 30's
By the Dixie chicks. Yes
I haven't counted, but it's a lot
And in all those listens, have you ever bobbed your head to the beat? I have not. That would be pretty weird.
It's not Depeche Mode.

Lindsay's guitar work and production skill are vastly overlooked.
Saw Mac in their prime in ‘77 in Houston. Epic concert
One of those songs that the meaning of it changes every year as you get older too. Gotta check out their live version from the dance - amazing version!
The version "The Dance" is even better. Marinated for 20 years.
Flawless, beautiful song.
One of those moments of timeless beauty in music.
Just a beautiful tune, sung and played to perfection by Steve Nicks and Fleetwood Mac.
Loved this song when it came out. And it still touches me. One of my favorites and never gets old
Thanks for hitting this tune A+A!! Looking forward to next week's adventure!
