Ah, yes...back in the day when a hard working crew could have lunch, or finish the day at a local pub or pizza place and relax after an honest days work. Such distant memories!

showoff really. here i am two years into this and still have to sweat and hump my ass off, now i got a guy in town with a man lift cutting my throat on every bid. frustrating to work so hard lowering limb solo with no crew havimg to climb down the tree to untie my ropes just to climb back up and bring down more of it ive been in ghe woods most of my adult life ,learning through trial and error. today i dont think there is any tree i cant safely bring down alone thats not to say its easy because its not ,but i suit up and show up at every oppertunity i get and am greatful for. your videos have taught me lots and you have a great flow about how you get the job done. always in control and at peace in the air as am i. when i climb its the only time the worry of the world leaves me and i feel like im actually helping people with a problem they cant fix,felling trees. thanks for your videos i cant help but see your equipment and wish i had something like even one peace of it

Great video as always. That old mad max truck looks cool. I have 2017 volkswagen transporter as a work car. I am a crapenter and a tree climber and the car is always full of tool and mess. Im wonder to buy and old silverado or a f-150 that can be a tree work truck and pull the chipper. Thanks for sharing. 😊🌲👌
In the late 70s - early 80s, I climbed for companies in 3 different states, and everyone just climbed with a saddle, climbing rope with a non-locking clip on the end, and with the 2 foot tail from the double hitch securing the clip, you secured the two ends of the climbing rope with a friction knot with 2 loops under and one over. Now, that securing of the rope is done with hardware, plus you have a belt full of hardware. Really curious when all this hardware started to be used.

I've always thought of them as just different tools that are useful for different jobs. DRT for jobs with double lanyarding or lots of limb walking. SRT for columnar trees and removals without a lot of up and downing.
I'm 50 Yrs old, I've worked full time in IT for the past 27 Years. 5 Years ago I climbed and cut my first tree. My whole life i never knew there was a field like this. I am sure I have been in the wrong industry this whole time.
I went to college and got a business degree with major in information systems management. My senior year was the big tech crash of the dot com era. Prior to that Raymond James was snatching USF graduates as fast as they could. So when I graduated about the only tech jobs left were changing passwords for AOL. Started off lawn biz part time and fast forward almost twenty years later got a pretty sweet tree gig going on. Love it, I see the degree hanging on the wall and just shake me head.
Is the hydro pump for the dump on the truck located in the storage bins?? If so we had on blow and killed all of the climbing and rig gear. Huge expense

Usually it gets chipped and dumped at a place that recycles wood to make pallets... or sometimes the customer keeps it or someone takes it for firewood
How does the F550 do hauling that chipper? We have a Morbark M16 that our F550 seems to have a hard time pulling when we have a load of chips. But, we have to pull a lot of STEEP hills!
Word up on 201T gas tank...my baby echo tank lasts longer. Good tip on Stanley hand saws...I will give them a try. Been using silky for years, but they dont seem to stay sharp as long as they used too.
It's because you're stronger now, and saw faster/more than you realize. Dead serious. You'll find this dynamic at play in the use of many hand tools. Obviously, there is an opposing factor, where we learn how to be more CAREFUL with preserving our tools, as we gain experience, but swinging things harder and more often, still has an inevitable effect.
How long did it take for you to get use to running a saw specify in tight spaces? I have no saw experience and no one to teach me so I'm trying to learn by myself on a clearing project Mainly junk trees in the 3 to 6-inch range all grown sense 2007 (ish) I bought an ms194t which is my only saw currently
August...Along with your equipment could you go in to what it takes to maintain that arsenal from the saws, rigging gear, climbers gear, trucks, chipper (did they ever get your load scale fixed?), mini-skid, etc., etc. Most people have no clue about how maintenance intensive a tree company is. Then get into the business aspect from pricing, insurance, contracts, WC, etc. Don't know how you do it and run a family, handle a side business, and ut out excellent videos. You truly amaze me

If that lot was in the UK you'd have half the country's thieves after you, you'd be lucky to keep it all for a week😂 So frustrating over here, I lost a few bits a couple of weeks ago.. A local company actually got followed to the job site last week and as soon as they started work round back everything was robbed🤬 If it's not nailed down they'll have it, i'm always amazed when I see buckin driving round with the saws just thrown in the back, here they'd be gone while your sat at the traffic lights on the way to your morning coffee 😂

About my question- what was the brand of blue rigging rope, which you used in one od videos to help tree fall in required direction? It was super stretchy thing and just a vermeer was enough to tension it.
They are heavy and they don’t keep sound out as good as other helmet systems and they are more uncomfortable because of less space under the ear muff foam for the Sena speakers. Probably the best helmet for safety though.
All our work is in London so no chance of a crane or a large chipper 😩 most days I’m literally threading a needle with a chainsaw and walking brush through a house lol. I definitely should have come to the states when I was offered 20 years ago 😁

This caused rapid sprouting branch form called epicormic. They lack the genetic ability to steer and organise themselves for balance, strength and light. And they have weak unions at the cut point where they emerge from. This tree was not sound.
Serious question: Was there enough room where you could you have had an electrician or electric company take the power line down and just dropped the tree?

I am in the market for a used one - I prefer the slot, instead of the now smaller hole. Not SUPER worn out, but if anyone out there has one they don't use, I'm your man.

Firewood, landscaping, milling, outdoor furniture etc.

I'd love to here your thoughts about chippers: disc vs drum, size and HP for different jobs
Not that you were asking me, but in my experience, discs get jammed up considerably more often than drums.

Don't do it, you'll be replacing pistons left and right, and a decent STIHL shop will tell you to take a hike.
