    UPDATE: Tripwire has now released a statement on this. It reads: We have also seen community concerns, and we are paying attention to them. Killing Floor has been, and continues to be, many things to many people, and we want to make sure we are making the best Killing Floor game to date. We are listening and want to understand what Killing Floor means to each of you!
    Killing Floor 3 is currently in a pre-alpha state, with systems still maturing and content being developed. We are actively implementing community feedback and will be sharing more details in the future!
    In the near future we will officially enter our technical alpha, then beta stages where we will open the game up for more direct community feedback. So until then, be sure to check out all the latest news.

      "Has been many things to many people" is such a bullshit copout these companies use. It has *never* been a hero shooter to anybody, because neither KF1 or 2 were hero shooters. Trying to make it one is an obvious attempt from higher ups to drag in more buyers at the expense of current fans.
      Let me make this very simple tripwire: If weapons are locked to perks i'm not buying. If perks are connected to characters i'm not buying. If this is ANYTHING more like overwatch than kf 1 and 2 were i'm not buying. I don't like overwatch and I won't buy a game trying to copy it.

  • @pooshrulez
    @pooshrulez 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +18

    Regarding per-specialist weapon lock, there is a fair tradeoff between the KF2 and KF3 systems called... KF1. KF1 perks offer a 70% discount on weapons, so buying them off-perk is very expensive but still possible.

  • @pooshrulez
    @pooshrulez 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +18

    My biggest concern about Specialists is scalability. Tripwire can make 6-10 Specialists for the launch, which would mostly replicate KF2 perks. The requirement to play a specific character for a perk is an unnecessary limitation, but I can live with that. However, the issue will grow with post-launch content updates and the introduction of new heroes. Sooner or later (and I bet - sooner), Tripwire will run out of ideas for specialists and start mixing them together. At the end of the day, we will have a dozen slightly different “Survivalists”, turning the entire game into a mess.

    • @RQUKOfficial
      @RQUKOfficial  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      You're not wrong matey. I hope they see this and either come up with something similar/a hybrid of KF1/KF2's system or do something different but without silly limitations. Totally agree on the variety of the Specialists in the future. If anything, they're making their jobs harder. Let's see what happens closer to launch.

    • @johnny2598

      Also these Specialists will be more expensive.

    I really hope they stick with the traditional perk system - so we can play any _character_ we want, _with_ the perk we want. Locking each perk class to one character is arbitrarily restrictive!
    It would also require a strict limit of one perk per team, to prevent immersion breaking duplicate characters, something that is a non-issue in the current KF2 system

    • @RQUKOfficial
      @RQUKOfficial  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, me too. Or make changes to the existing system that improves it, not hinders it. We'll see.

  • @Lordbobomb
    @Lordbobomb 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    Would have loved a more hybrid approach to the classes where you would still have the perks like before. But your character would grant like 1 - 2 specific extra abilities.
    Foster would have the Sentinel and AP Ammo so he'd be great for certain perks but less so for others but you could still play him on the slightly less effective perks on him.

  • @Skeletor4753
    @Skeletor4753 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    I see both sides of the coin.
    On one hand having characters lineup with classes would make continuity make more sense. For example in kf2 the swat being so tanky while having the character model not match makes no sense.
    However I don't like the idea of character based abilities and I don't see how class specific weapons could be implemented with say 20 different classes. I also fear how microtransactions could be implemented with a class based system.
    I am excited for the "slower" paced game I hope they stick to that. So many games are focused on being so fast now. It is okay for things to be slower and more methodical. Ideally I would like kf3 to get back to the roots of kf1 leaning more into horror elements and slower gameplay compared to kf2. Idk how many of you remember but in kf1 zeds had so much more health. Either way I am excited I hope they don't botch it.

    • @RQUKOfficial
      @RQUKOfficial  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, a few people have said this too. Slower paced but gradually building up to an epic holdout/fight. Coming in ebbs and flows. I think it'll be dope if they can pull that off. I don't think i'd like it if it had the same pace as, say, CoD/Warzone.. that shit just feels way too rubbery/arcadey. Totally agree.

    Could it be a budget thing on voice actors? In KF2 all voice actors needed to record unique lines for all perk weapon types. Keeping perks to a character could mean a lot less lines.

    • @RQUKOfficial
      @RQUKOfficial  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Maybe. KF2 has 17 characters and there are 10 perks. I don't imagine they'll go over that number of perks in KF3. Or maybe they might remove a couple? They could also reuse some of KF2's voices or even dig up some of the unused stuff they had. Interesting.

    11:44 I respect your opinion, but man being able to choose what character to play as isn't just for me it's also for my teammates to recognize me. 🙁 I've ALWAYS played as corporal Lewis in kf1, in kf2 I had to play as Masterson, turn on cheats and force the cosmetics (camo ski-mask, camo helmet and gasmask) together to re-create the look. With kf3 I'm probably screwed... 😢

    For me by providing a leveling system with a diverse way of customizing your load out and build is the best way, fallout 76 did this well and also Darktide, the usual small fast and weak or big slow and strong being the basics. If that's the way they're going then it could be good providing they get the balance correct.

  • @drunkbunny94

    Loads of games do "classes" its a very generic mechanic that works in every genre which is why its been used from WoW to battlefield.
    Killing floors classes are simply built around a weapon type, which is very limiting in a lot of ways as some classes like SWAT or even commando end up being very same-y with SMG1, SMG2, SMG3 meanwhile classes like firebug have a LOT of variety because they have flamers, incendiary guns, experimental flame weapons and so on.
    Aliens fireteam elite has classes - Theres AR's, Pistols, CQW's and Heavy weapons classes have 2 categories to pick weapons from and then they have 2 abilities and 1 passive each, theres then a 32 tile grid system for picking your perks - its bascially a way to weight the perks so 1 perk might be 1 tile but another stronger perk might be 4. Really interesting system i recommend checking it out.
    Deep rock galactic has classes - theyre more focused around movement or traversal which is a big part of that game, scout has his grapple hook, driller can dig very fast, and engineer can build platforms that sort of thing, but they also each have their own weapons that only they can use (theres no offperking).
    Speaking of which removing offperk weapons is interesting. On the 1 hand you do lose some of that creativilty which i can see is a bad thing. But the upside is balancing everything becomes much easier because you dont have to worry about other classes making use of them.
    It also means that classes cant escape their weaknesses, for example if i play as sharpshooter on KF2 and i buy a railgun i can only carry a LAR, SPX or revolver for killing trash - or i can offperk a SMG or shotgun and completely avoid the drawback of being weaker vs trash.
    This is also why "crossperking" was so difficulty and hard to balance, different classes have different perks which make guns better than on other classes - not to mention when you compare those weapons to other weapons on each class all crossperk weapons end up very strong on 1 class and mid-useless on the other.

    I'm personally not too fussed about the character thing. I understand why the idea of hero characters is so appealing from a PR side. Having characters with clear roles is easier to market than random do whatever characters with perks. That being said I will admit I enjoy playing MR. Foster regardless of the perk I pick. I think letting players choose their character for thematic reasons (looks, voice, etc) creates a better sense of attachment than simply being forced into it for gameplay reasons. heroes create better unified character, but perks give greater customization and choice to the player.
    I think there could be a middle ground where yes designed characters exist for each perk. But also allowing you to swap character to whichever you want. That might be something they do, but I guess we'll see!

    • @RQUKOfficial
      @RQUKOfficial  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    If I were in charge of Killing Floor, this is how I would fix the game, but first
    I have not played Killing Floor as long as a lot of others have, but that does not mean I am not a big fan of the real games. To be completely honest, I started when Tragic Kingdom came out on the PS4. I liked the game so much that I built myself a PC to play it. I own the original physical releases of one and two. I also own several collector items from the game, such as trading cards, buttons, plushies, you name it, autograph stuff. Even though I have not been around as much as some other people from the very start of the game, I think it's plain to see that I am a fan and I care about the game. With that said, here's how to fix the game; it's pretty simple.
    Let me explain. I have over 10,000 hours in the Killing Floor SDK. I make custom maps for people and servers, and I know little things that Tripwire has lied about, such as that at any given time they could have removed the edars if they wanted to. When you open up the map in the game engine, there is something under World Properties. There's the ability to replace any Zed or enemy with another one for that map that's including edars.
    I'm just saying this in case Tripwire says, Oh no, we can't do this, we can't do that.
    Now let's talk about Crawlers real quick from the first couple. Maps such as burning Paris anything after that they could have made them when they walked on walls you got to use a special type of wall and a special type of pathing basically there are these apples that are like bread crumbs that zeds follow you can't see in game so there's that don't let him tell you they can't change something they just refuse to sometimes andIf you are curious about documentation, I would be happy to share it via email.
    Don't forget Tripwire always likes to hide stuff
    Okay, my tripwire rant is over now. How do they do this? How do they fix the game before it's even released? You might ask, Get on with it. All they have to do is just make it like a totally different game mode; they can do it very easily. I went on my way to talk to people who are into games, as in, they actually do stuff for games. Developers Yes, there can be too many co-existing game modes. Don't believe me, sorry. That's my passion coming out about the game again. Think about all the weekly game modes. game mode game mode for your PC players, think about all the mods and RPG games and everything else based around Killing Floor 2. No, I am not familiar with the new game engine it's going to be using, but I asked around not using people's names without permission. Yes, people, I have asked if this is possible, so they should take this into account. I truly believe the heart and soul of killing floor blood gore dismemberment guns Park classes give you the ability to choose your play style to help your teammates experiment and have fun, which is unlike any other game that's killing floor I'm sure we all heard those saying if it looks like a duck walks like a duck, it's a duck. Tripwire, if you read this, many people want their duck, not a goose.

      Quite the read! I'm not sure of the ins and outs of game development so haven't a clue how these things work. I leave it to the experts out there. I go on about how i've been part of the game from the start, pretty much, but I don't think it matters when you come into it. You're buying, what you feel like is a good product and investing significant time into it. I honestly do feel now they've commented on the state of KF3, they'll do the right thing and give the fans what they want.
      I do recall them walking back a very controversial change they made to KF2 during early access. They added some kind of damage mitigation system to the zeds, so they'd (what felt like) constantly block shots with their arms. There was a huge backlash and they walked back 90% of the changes. People just hated it! So it does show they can listen and change what's not popular. I think the same will happen with KF3. Time will tell. Thanks again for the comments. It's what makes this channel grow. I also happen to love reading and responding to them. Cheers!

    We do not know if they are not adding skill trees to the system or what the gun customization is, which i am very curious about. still feels like no cross perk weapon mixing is lame. i would like it to be the way it was in kf2 where you can buy any off perk guns but they wouldn't get the perk buffs.
    and another thing is that the gadgets are... meh. i mean they are alright as an idea i guess just hope that they wont make the game too easy. but the fact that you would have to choose a certain character to play as a certain perk is not that fun. i would just ratter play as any character i want with any perk i would like to play with. also i hope that they dont make it so that there can be only one of each perk in a team of 6. weapon attachments are a great idea but i really hope that you would have to level up the guns to un lock the attachments for guns and perhaps create a loadout (like for your starting weapons) this would give me (others) something to grind and to use all guns. camo challenges could be cool as well but that could be a little too Cod like.
    also here is a little nit pick... in that i think that the new Husk should have some burn marks or scars all over his body. because he uses fire to attack so how has he never burned him self by accident? hes a little too clean un like the husk from kf2 also i loved the glowing husk from kf2 like how he was a litteral inferno burning on the inside or something like that.
    can't think of any thing else to add at the moment. so i guess i'll leave this off here. but i truely do hope that Tripwire will listen to the feed back of this community and make killing floor Great Again or just make a banging game that we will all come to love. (KF3)

    People are just clearly not thinking it really through when it comes to the concept of specialist. They are judging from a game that has it already, to which we have no idea how it's implemented yet or anything for that matter. Not only this, people are upset that we can't pick our own characters but in reality, people have been picking characters per perk in KF2 for a very long time (I even did this, each perk had it's own character and personalised look). People need to give it time until we get the information before over-reacting/hyping a specific situation.
    One thing I have barely seen anyone question about this situation, will weapons/perks/reskins now be monitized differently? Will it even be possible for these changes in the future? The future additions is where the games tend to thrive as new content comes out and shine but specialists tend to restrict that quite a bit.

    • @RQUKOfficial

      KF1/KF2 systems: Pick a random character. Sheerly for cosmetic purposes. Use any perk with it. Purchase any weapons. Be they off or on the perk you're using. Your choice as a player.
      KF3: Select a character with a predefined set of perks/skills/weapons. Only purchase/equip those weapons/gadgets tied to the Specialist. No option at all to off perk with different weapons. Limited choice as a player.
      Am I missing something? I totally agree, we have no idea how it's being implemented. We only know what TW has said in written articles and the odd bit of footage here and there. Hopefully they'll be able to share more details as development progresses.

    I like the way that the developer is trying to elevate KF3 to a new level. As a long-time fan since the 2010s, I really enjoy the perks system which allows players to have their freedom. Funny how I don't mind if they want to implement the so-called 'overwatch' system aka hero shooter in KF3. I believe they are not dumb enough to acknowledge some mechanics only work best in certain game genres! The question for us to consider: "How long have they been playing since they implemented the new mechanic to believe this would satisfy players?" "Do they realise that players only demand more from the game instead of trading classic system to controversial system?" Let's all agree, we want KF3 to succeed! As long as the game is exceptionally fun, enjoyable and refreshing, no matter how many changes and trade-offs they have to make, they'll have my support.

They removed Zed time, you can no longer pick up weapons from fallen teammates, they took out the Stalker, added an Overwatch-style interface, and now there are in-game activatable abilities. Matches now have objectives like waiting for rescue, similar to Back 4 Blood. And last but not least, there won't be any perks anymore; they’ll be replaced by character abilities.

    Thankyou again for the shoutout! I enjoy your videos too, Your comedy with the headset beeping at you is funny as hell. I totally agree with everything within the video, a lot of people feel let down by the new KF3 features but tripwire have stated they will apparently change it... How much of that is true is unpredictable. One more thing, what is the map called your playing on Zedternal, It looks like a good custom map.

      Anytime dude. You also make a lot of valid points in your vids. Your channel deserves so much more subs/view and it's great to see it growing. We'll defo have to have a KF collab game sometime. Even if it's just to shoot the shit and talk about KF3. Yeah, I think TW are in a bit of a pickle as they clearly underestimated their hardcore audience with changing such a fundamental piece of the game. I don't blame them for wanting to try something different, just do it elsewhere, there's a load of areas to try different things. Fingers crossed! The map is called SpiralSlaughter. It's dumb fun but can be ridiculous on vanilla KF, lol. Definiately invest in the shock boots if you're playing zedternal. :)

      @@RQUKOfficial Oh yeah we do need to do a Collab video sometime, I think a video talking about the current state of KF3 would be an excellent Idea! as like you said they changed such a core feature of the game which has gotten fans worried and they are trying to fix something that isn't broken by the looks of it... btw thanks for the map name and zedternal suggestion

    Ive said it before, "heros" will make certain characters mandatory for high level play. That is how they will inject "diversity equity and inclusion" into the game. There doing it to get that dei pay check and inject propaganda into the game, just wait. If its not there at launch, it will be post launch when they start selling separate characters

    I actually like this format where you're showing gameplay in the background, and I wouldn't mind other videos from you or if you're just talking about killing floor about any topic. Why you may ask? Well, because you're honest about how you feel about stuff, and this game needs honesty.

      Thanks! I'm glad you like it. I tend to just create whatever I'm in the mood to create. I have a day job, so this is my spare time hobby, when i'm not gaming! I tend to cover a lot of survival games as well but I have a really big soft spot for FPS/hoard games, hence the KF stuff. I try not to jump on the next big thing and just clickbait for views. Likely why my channel is so tiny, but it's my little piece of the Internet and I love doing it.

      Which gun? The reducto-ray at the beginning? It's DLC for KF2. Not very good although it does make a nice bloody mess of the zeds.

    You need to write a script. You rambling without any structure and providing vague points. Geez
