Sir, certainly I am not alone in gratitude for your kind service. You were in past the prime inspiration for me to level up and become a guide. Many see you as a mentor. All thanks.k
Mr. McPhail, Thank you for your videos and the energy you put into sharing your years of experience in both fly tying and fly fishing. I was wondering if you could create a video about grayling flies made with rooster hackle that don’t cause the tippet to twist. Is there a way to tie a fly using rooster hackle that won’t twist the tippet or leader? I’ve noticed that grayling are particularly fond of such flies, but we all face challenges with tippet twisting, especially when using thin tippets. Wishing you all the best.
What are your thoughts on jc substitute? I’ve got a cape that must be 30 odd years old. It was my pride and joy as a teenager to have a real jc cape so I rarely used it. It’s followed me from my childhood home to my life in Germany. I’m finding it’s a bit brittle and delicate now so looking to get a new one but thinking I don’t need a whole cape. I’ll keep my original one of course for sentimental reasons.
Hi Rob, When I used to take orders I did tye a few flies with substitute JC for clients that asked for them and they looked ok and they did catch fish..If I never had JC on my flies it wouldn't bother me too much if I am honest as flies like the Cascade, Willie Gun and the Ally's Shrimp don't have them and they have caught me many a fish over the years... All. the very best Davie
Hi @Flyfisher2022, I did at one time but at the moment I just tye for my channel and most of the flies I give away in the monthly draw that I do each month..Thank you for asking.. All the very best Davie
Hi Jim, I just named it after the colour of the materials I used but I'm sure there will be a few tyed very close to this one though as you know what makes a fly is you own little touches and colours that you use, this is a lovely combination and works a treat..I'm glad you liked the fly.. All the very best Davie

Genial!
Great pattern! It looks like a stimulator tied as wet fly. Is it true?
Hi Alfred,
It does in a way and it would make a good wet fly for the stimulator...I'm glad you liked it..
All the very best Davie
