Oilers are now 7-3 in their last 10 and been playing great in that stretch, climbing the standings slowly but surely, only thing is that they got a 5 day break, just hope they dont cool off

Skinner is giving us the perfomances we NEED. Draisaitl is looking way better too. That was some of the most emotion I've seen from him in a regular season goal. he NEEDED that one.
Looked like a helluva game. Beautiful playing on both sides. LOVED seeing Nurse's slide block and goal + Skinner stepping up to match his razor-sharp opponent.
Third period -- solid team effort boys. Skinner decent saves, Draisatl good goal. Good aggressive playing tonight. Keep rolling forward positively game after game. Come on Oilers!! LET"S GOOOOO!!!!

They did because they didn’t give up they kept the pressure up and eventually the dam burst and it did. They could have easily got upset and let Helly get to them but they didn’t.
I think they’re more lucky Skinner didn’t give up more than 1
Helly was Drydenesque lucky, at times, some atypical missed calls, especially holding/interference ones against McDavid...we had the better quality opportunties & pressure. Better collective effort & team resilience...sustain this, including some injury luck, buying Holland some time to make a few, hopefully quality trades, (goalie & defenseman).

The Oilers got their mojo back after the second period against Carolina, despite having lost that game. They've been dominant since, 4 straight games.

Carolina was there last loss four games ago. They beat Washington 5-0 they beat Anaheim 8-2 they beat Vegas 4-3 in OT and beat the Jests 3-1.
Skinner was good this game. Amazing how a decent goalkeeper helps. Just gotta keep it up now

Experience or not, the simply fact of the matter is. He knows hockey and knows what it takes to be defensively minded and to be offensively minded.
I was so stocked when he when he was hired to help the d core, no nonsense kind of guy, i got that impression from the first interview when they introduced Paul as assistant coach.

Helly was stealing this game for 54 minutes. That last 6 minutes Edmonton finally broke through that wall.

Credit to the Jets, this game was a lot closer than I thought if you just looked at the 3-1 score. Jets could have won this if not for some clutch saves by Skinner. Still, exciting to see the Oilers continuing to turn things around, much more interesting this way!
They had a lot of Helle-luck with rebounds & squandered puck-luck. Edmonton had the better opportunities & sustained pressure. Some atypical, bad officiating, too...

Speaking as an American Oilers fan who watched a lot of his games on TV, I still say Doc Emerick is the G.O.A.T., but Michaels is just a hair behind. I still miss Michaels and Bob Stauffer doing games on radio together on a regular basis.

this game reflects the issue of NHL officiating. Refs missed one call of the hit on Morriessy, then they just refused to make any calls against jets for a long time
That pick by Janmark was a bit gross for sure, but the refs held out calling anything against the Jets until they absolutely had to on a blatant call.

@@ryans413I have to say the only real difference I see is in the defence activation and transition out of their zone. It's like night and day. It's creating a lot of scoring chances that weren't there in the beginning. The defensive part is better too surprisingly.
But still poses the question Manson was trying to deal with, if the oilers make the playoffs and it becomes a defensive slug fest will these guys be able to shut down other teams the way they get shut down, or will Coffey's transition game and getting pucks in behind teams clogging up the middle be enough to generate the offense needed to outscore the opponents?
Time will tell. They have to make playoffs first and that's a long ride still.
Are they back? 7-3 in their last 10, McDavid 13p in 4 games, skinner had a convincing game (we will ignore the Vegas performance). They have beat some good teams, Washington is a tough out, Vegas 1st in the league, and then Winnipeg has been pretty great aswell

One could argue that Oilers or Jets each had the refs in there back pocket. I think it is more insidious - they are DIRECTED to make "pro?" hockey as ExCiTiNg as possible by manipulating momentum for either team. THEY have to make it a close game EVERY time. Except in the case of an American team - then it is blatantly rigged for the USA based team to win as much as possible. Neither the Jets or the Oilers or any Canadian based team will EVER win the cup with Bettman365 running the show. It is nearly statistically impossible for no Canadian team to win a cup in the last 30 years - yet here we are.

What are you seeing? Desharnais has been fine. That goal was scored on the power play which has been pretty great of late.
Holy the Edmonton defense was bailed out by Skinner tonight. How long will that be enough I wonder.
I dunno, I watched the game and then watched the highlights, it was dominated by the Oilers with only a handful of really great chances for the Jets.
At one point shots were 20 to 5 for the oilers plus they held Winnipeg to 1 goal and Helly was the one making all the dangerous saves more then Skinner so I’d say Edmonton’s defence did okay tonight.
So how many games suspension is #13 getting for setting a pick and headshotting a star defenceman? He knew what he was doing, and was MAD because his beloved ;#97 wasn't scoring. This precedent has been set by Montreal, the old "he knew what he was doing and was mad" case. So Sheifeke got 4 playoffs games for a 100% CLEAN check, this IDIOT should get 16 games suspension, $5000 fine. Chop chop NHL.

Matthews and Tavares suck ass in the playoffs. Oilers would be worse off with those no edge no heart players.
