Frankly Kane and Foegele aren't doing Much Draisaitl is doing it all himself. Even if they could just get Kane going that would greatly help.
Draisaitl started the season on fire playing with Nuge and Hyman. Then he got moved off to play with McDavid to get him going and Nuge and Hyman just kept going. Moved Nuge and Hyman up and Kane and Brown down and and Draisaitl has been out on the island alone since. You can see his frustration for a guy that's all about the pass and playmaker he's starting to just say screw it! I'll do it myself. Honestly Nuge and Hyman have been on fire all season and have been oilers most consistently productive players all season.

To be honest, NJ looked terrible with the puck tonight. If that’s Bouchard or Nurse coughing up those grade A chances, the city would be calling for changes immediately. Did Edmonton’s skill actually win them the game, or did New Jersey’s lack of own zone pick management cost them. If we play that second period the same way tomorrow against the Rangers we will lose.

So what about a straight up Campbell for Samsonov trade ? They take back their damaged goods and Oilers get a 1A with some questionable mental toughness. Not to worry though as Schwartzy will fix him as he always does.

Samsonov's contract is up at the end of the year, Campbell still has 3 years at $5 Million after this year. You would have to take on a contract the Leafs desperately want to get out of ON TOP of taking Samsonov. Otherwise the Leafs would be on the hook for $15 for Campbell.....they would never go for it....And the Oilers get back a goalie who just got lit up again tonight and appears to be headed to the Marlies.

@@dalriadaI get why Holland made a move for a goalie that summer...HE HAD TO get an "established veteran."...They tried for Fleury and Kuemper...No dice...That left Husso with 35 total NHL games, Samsonov (no thanks) Jones (coming off a horrible year) and Soupy....They already had success with Ceci, Barrie, and Hyman. At the time Campbell was coming off a 30--9 season and it seemed to make sense...They also did not also know how far along Skinner would be by this point. If they had to do it all over again? Sure, they would do it differently. EVERY team has at least one contract they wish they did not have. But put into proper context, what they did with Campbell was not all that unreasonable.
...and getting rid of a $5 Million contract for 3 years is not impossible...But they will likely have to take back someone else's bad contract....and it would help if Campbell got on track.

@@dalriadaAt the time he was coming off a 30--9 record with Toronto. He was not quite an "unknown entity" at age 31 and time in Dallas,L.A and Toronto. Plus they already had success with 3 other former Leafs.... He was deemed the best option at the time. They also were not sure how ready Skinner would be. Clearly Holland mis-calculated. If they had to do it all over again I am sure they would have signed someone else for less money and less term....of course had that happened, Oilers would have complained about NOT signing Campbell...hahaha...You can't make everyone happy.
