Tarte de Alfarroba do Algarve - Portuguese Carob Tart

  • For lovers of carob, the traditional recipe for Tarte de carob with almonds, an Algarvian delight for those who like intense flavors. Carob is very common in the Algarve, as are almonds.
    “Tarte de Alfarroba do Algarve” is a tart rich in flavors, moist, intense and with an irresistible texture.

    👉🏼 INGREDIENTS:
    Ingredients for the base dough:
    • 25 g of carob powder
    • 75 g flour
    • 60 g of sugar
    • 50 g butter
    • 1 egg
    Ingredients for the filling:
    • 160 g of yellow sugar
    • 50 g carob powder
    • 35 g cocoa powder
    • 100 g ground almonds
    • 1 teaspoon of vanilla flavor
    • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
    • 1 pinch of salt
    • 4 egg yolks
    • 2 tablespoons of liquid butter
    • 100 ml cold water
    To sprinkle:
    • some cocoa powder
    Baking time for the base dough: 10 - 12 minutes / 180°C
    Baking time dough base with filling: 30 minutes / 180°C

      100ml cold water is needed for this recipe.
