It was wonderful. I shall listen to more of him. What you say may be true but I really enjoyed the late great Augustus Pablo on this instrument. What do you think?
Jon is amazing but this is just not true. Look into the Melodica Men, Daren Banarsë from melodica world, Ena Yoshida, Masa Matsuda, and Pianica Magician (ピアニカの魔術師).

If you look at the underside of the melodica, there's a big thing taped on to it. My guess is that the melodica is mic'ed up, and that device is sending the signal wirelessly to a mixing board somewhere. EDIT: Actually, the mic is right above the keyboard, right where his supporting hand is. If it sounds digital, it most likely is because of how the microphone is picking it up.
This is the vindication I needed to continue learning to play the melodica
time to steal my kid's melodica.
Think thats the Hohner 37?

It's the breathe control and the accidentals that make this instrument come alive.

Incredible. I love that he played Amazing Grace.
OMG, I haven't seen this instrument in over 30 years! As a boy we used to play the melodica in primary school - wow, I really miss those days!
Amazing Grace really grows over oneself over the years, huh? It really is such a great melody and beautiful song.
I love the Amazing Grace. Everything was so still and peaceful. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Melodica is a beautiful instrument. Reeded instruments have been around for centuries
Most melodicas don’t have reeds
@@blueleader392well, not reed reeds. But the metal tines that resonate are called reeds.
Well THATwas the most badassed Melodica playing I've heard yet, then again, that IS Jon Baptiste!
And he plays it without a mouthpiece! That separates us mere mortals from legends!
I play it the same way never saw anyone else play it like that
the "mouthpiece" is an embarrassment, makes the melodica not look like an instrument, maybe that's why
more airflow?

he is so talented
such a great sounding melodica, and such a great performer
Honestly i never considered Melodica as a real instrument until i have seen this dude play it.
I've been wondering what this instrument sounds like played well.
Ahahah many carry it but very few own it
Soooo good.
One of the best interpretation I've ever heard duuuuude!! That ending my boiiii!

Dat subtle vibrato adds charm to it's soothing pungent sound
Sooo beautiful and unique.
So beautiful the dinamics!

ive fallen in love with him
Bravo!
So much talent. Five Grammys.
Me with my 10 dollar melodica...I can do that too...
