I like how this is broken down into easy to understand steps. Practiced this at my local rink yesterday. Started to get the feel of it, now just have to work on making it look smooth :) Thankyou for this video
I skated in the 70 & 80s. Skating now I'd so advance I'm going to get back in it at 60. Where can I get a pair of good skates? I'm in Shreveport la. 318 207 5564. Rickey. I'm very active in construction (cement) and baseball. I'm chomping at the bits.
Please make more Shuffle Skate videos. I never learned to do it when I was younger and you are pretty much the only video I have found that breaks it down Shuffle challenged. I would just like to see more break downs of styles so that I can copy them and learn.
This was an awesome breakdown and brought back so much fun memories from my skating days. We used to call shuffle skating "jammin" and hands down the best song to jam to was Atomic Dog. Man those were the BEST of times!
Thank you for the explanation. I so wish I could do this. I roller skated as a kid and really enjoyed it. A good bit older now and too many back injuries and afraid I can't afford to fall. So I will watch you guys do it.
I remember shuffle skating back in the day. I’m just now getting back into skating, and I love the way you broke it down. So excited to get started practicing it. Thank you! Btw, love your skates!
Your muscle memory will recall after a dozen sessions. Back step added is called The Mineola Swing... Snyder skates no issues w/toe stops...the black button/ doorknob style are best...
I loved it i started skating at age 11 and am 61 now 50 years so far so i ejoyed your video ty .i was thinking of the shuffle dancing instructive clips on tictoc
Thank you so much! I'm working on this now but on inlines..I have quads but inlines feel more natural over the years - I'm not really sure why. I'm also working on the Chopandshuffle backwards. Thanks again!
Hello! Just found your video . As a middle aged somewhat shuffle skater- myself, it was awesome finding you. Most jam skate videos I have seen are all younger skaters. I have not skated in about two years only because my daughter was my skating partner and she has moved away . Getting back on skates will be a little wobbly & scary but I will take it slow . I used my indoor wheels on outdoor skating ( big mistake ) and literally have worn the right wheel inside edge- ugh. Cannot be repaired soooo im the market for new wheels, trucks & bearings ( for indoor skating . Your recommendations : would rather have a gripping softer wheel than a hard wheel. I don’t have the need for speed. I prefer a traditional artistic higher ankle boot . Will look to see if you have additional videos . Thank you !
Hip Hop R&B music works well Because skating to the rhythm of the music is historical in the Black/African American skate community. In fact Black people have in the past and even still today, called “shuffling” rhythm or soul skating and it really is all about connecting with the music, so the DJ gotta be good. It is really fun and it rhythm skating encompasses different styles based region.
Yes that's true, have also heard rhythm/soul/ shuffle skating referred to as trucking by others, depends on the region. At our rink they usually play good music but have been to sessions with awful music at some places!
Can you shuffle skate in speed skates. I am 45 yrs old and haven't skated for 30 years. Got back into skating. Tired of renting skates as I usually get tripped up on the toe stop. Should I get speed skates or jam skates for shuffle skating. I was looking at sure-grip fugitive rebels. Any recommendations?
Great that you are skating again! Yes speed skates or jam skates are good for shuffle skating, Sure Grip or entry level Riedell or VNLA low top boots are all good options🤗
Hi, I love your videos! I’ve been trying to get the hang of shuffle skating but my front wheel kinda gets caught when I try and drag it like that. Any tips?
Thanks! When you do the pull on the toe wheels maybe don't lift the heel too high, keep it a bit lower. And make sure you have plugs instead of toe stops since those trip up shuffles 😄
I'm a bigger guy, 6'4 250lbs...what roller skates would you recommend for shuffle skating? I've got a pair of Riedell OG's that i normally use, but would like to get into this & I love the low top look of yours. Being heavier, will i need harder wheels for the rink and shuffling?
Riedells are great! These are the 911 boot and they make other low boots too. A good plate is important, mine are Reactor Neo which are aluminum, strong & light! My wheels are low 90s but since you are bigger you'll probably want wheels that are at least mid 90s up to 100s depending on if you are skating floors that are more slippery or grippy...hope that helps!
Are you guys in Bradenton Florida? I so recognize that spot. If you are that’s so crazy bc my friend and I were just looking for a personal teacher and we can’t find any. We have been practicing at the tennis court in LBK bayfront park.
We did live in Bradenton but moved a few years ago, Astro Skate Bradenton is a great place to skate and meet other skaters, I think they have lessons too
Thank you so much for this video! First video I could find where it's broken down for a beginner. Brought back the 70's and 80's!
You're welcome! 😀

Happy to hear that, with a little practice you'll be fluid and smooth!🤗

@@rickeyparson572 That's awesome! If you have a local rink that sells skates try that first, or if not you could order from Riedell like i did😄

Great idea, thank you for the suggestion!
i've been trying to find a good tutorial on this for FOREVER, and am so glad i finally came across yours! VERY helpful!!!!!! thank you!!!!!
Glad you liked it, have fun shuffle skating!🤗
Shuffling was our thing in the 70s. Groups shuffkers were called six packs....

Jam defined by Cleveland Ohio is more break dancing on skates in place I guess this may be a regional thing

A good soft wheel for outdoors (78a) are Radar energy! Or if that is too soft maybe Juice Java or Radar Prestos which you can find in the 80s🤗
I’m older and heavier; love my kryptonics 62mm as they’re soft and grippy… not interested in speed (yet) and with good bearings the roll is good

Shuffle skating starts with a scissor step now I see it!
Please break down the Nay Nay dance next sir, also the Quan as well- thank you
Thanks for the input!😄
VERY helpful video. Thank you! Did it take time for your legs to strengthen up to enable you that ability to have that smooth motion?
You're welcome, yes it takes practice over time but is such a fun form of excercise!🤗
@@KevJaz awesome! Thanks very much.
Great video!! Thank you ❤️
You're welcome!😁
Flowy isn't what you would call what I do but I'm definitely working up to it lol..Really enjoy your videos and nice flowy moves😎
Thanks, keep skating and flowing your own way!😄

Do your wheels have to be a certain size to do this or does it matter?
Any size you prefer, these wheels are 59mm but have also used 62mm and 57mm 🤗

What size wheels.
These are 59mm
Not the older white guy with some moves.. I like him...seems coo
You should have music in the background.
Shuffle skating is too difficult for me i tried before and ended up bleeding
Well skating is not easy and falling is part of learning for all of us so don't give up!
Nice nice skates derby wheels? You must drive the beetle.
Thanks! Wheels are Radar Prestos, beetle is June bug 🐞
I think that he is talking to the rest of the viewers out there and not to who's filming.
Love how old these two are flirting 😂
I will never learn😞
LONG intro, man...
Maybe if you didn't talk so much we could actually learn something. Next
