I know this is over 2 years later, but yes there is a difference, even if the manufacturer says they are compatible. I ordered a battery, from China, hadn't opened the phone up yet at that stage because the battery would come with the necessary tools to open it, so naturally I looked up the specs for my phone on the site, had a choice of bn41 or bn43, they were both compatible, according to them. Not so though, I ordered the bn43, as it was a stronger battery, same price, but even though the battery was the same size, fitted in the phone, the connector was slightly different and had to be stretched slightly to even have a chance of connecting, but it wouldn't anyway. If you look at pictures those different 'bn' batteries, you'll see all the wiring with the connectors from them are different lengths, some going over to the opposite side, obviously depending on type of phone, in my case a Xiaomi Note 4, bn41, as it turned out, note 4x uses bn43. Also even phones that say just Note 4, seemed to have different components. Anyway, the best bet is to open the phone, very very carefully, after watching a TH-cam vid, before ordering what you might think is the correct battery, so you'll know exactly which one you'll need. And the same can be said for the charging board port, they vary also, four or five different ones. Having the tools that come with the battery is handy, if you know exactly which one you need, but to get into a sealed phone it's still possible with some makeshift ones, again very carefully, but you may already know this now yourself 👍
There is no need, if you can remove those gum strips. But if the strips pull apart, break, and are not fully removed, and they usually do, it's easier, and safer, to get the plastic under it from the top, as shown, where the mother board had been, rather than lever from the sides, as the gum is very strong, unnecessarily so 😒, which could damage the battery, perhaps to the extent of an explosion. But it is possible to do it, levering from the side, very very carefully though. Built-in obsolescence at it's finest, necessary only to phone manufacturers, I might add 😒👍
THANK YOU! My Xiaomi had a slightly different motherboard design but it was similar enough. And on first boot after battery switch, it booted into the Chinese Xiaomi boot menu. Luckily are videos on youtube telling you how to switch to English, shut down the phone, then reboot normally.
Dude fuk that. Way too hard and too many places to fuk up. Just gonna buy a new one, but that's some bullshit design. I can use the same phone for years and years, but this way i gotta buy a new one every 2 years and create more electronic waste. Good fuking job.
