- Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a Somali-born Dutch activist is the founder of the AHA Foundation which works to bring an end to honour killings and related violence around the world; a former member of the Dutch parliament; and author of best-selling books Nomad, Infidel and Heretic: Why Islam Needs a Reformation Now.
Internationally renowned activist Ayaan Hirsi Ali spoke at the Centre for Independent Studies about her book, Heretic. She joined us to share her thoughts on the current challenges faced by liberal democracies in an era of jihad and mass migration.

I remember reading 'Infidel'. My friend was murdered by his own father, for refusing an arranged marriage and for leaving Islam, in 1993. He was 17. Ayaan's book broke down all the apologists' excuses, that what happened to my friend was "nothing to do with Islam", "Culture, not religion": her book and my subsequent study of Quran and Hadiths showed that my friend's father was perfectly within the law of Sharia, in carrying out the murder of his own son, who was pushed from a high building.
They got away with it. The verdict was "suicide".
Political correctness let down my friend even after his death.

There is blurring between Islam and Muslims in that elements of Islam are present in Muslims mindset and behaviours through its teachings/indoctrination.
This overlap varies from person to person which outsiders cannot distinguish.
The core problem is the religion itself and furthermore the prevention of free thinking through the threat of violence.
Matters are made worse by politics as through appeasement and looking the other way in exchange for a vote bank which increases further with relaxed border control.
If the religion was invented today, I suspect it would be banned.

Read about the life of Mohammad, and there was nothing, as a human being, that I can say Muhammad was a good person, nothing at all. To be fair in comparison, we must compare the philosophy of faith to another faith, here I am willing to compare Islam to all the other faiths and in detail. Killed 1.5 million Armenian in 1915 and 700 thousand Assyrians Christians and 250 thousand Greeks Christians. The Muslim hands are covered with blood throughout the history of Islamic expansion. So comparing country to country, we can say, they were not following the teaching of Christ. Because Christ demanded no killing, regardless of the reasons. In Islam, the government and the teaching of Mohammad are one and the same. Mohammad said if you kill one man, it is like you are killing all mankind, BUT DID NOT STOP THERE, HE SAID, BUT YOU CAN KILL IN Defending OF YOUR MUSLIM FAITH OR IF Your FAITH WAS GOING TO BE ATTACKED. Ultimately, HE ALLOWED KILLING AS LONG AS IT SERVE HIS GOAL OF EXPANSION, BUT JESUS SAID KILLING IS FORBIDDEN REGARDLESS OF THE REASON. Separation of church and state is a rule in western countries. Religion is a matter for the soul; it is a spiritual concern. The state is a matter for political leadership; a material concern.

It was meant by Thomas Jefferson as a way to protect people from the state imposed "official religion" or "denomination". like for example in England they had the "Church of England", in russia the Russian Orthodox church is in fact the official church of the state and it uses its status to throw its weight around. Thomas Jefferson never meant it as "politics should be separate from faith"... ALL of the founding fathers were deeply religious, not only that, but they spoke openly about their faiths. if they believed the way democrats do today, they would not have been quoting the Bible in their speeches and speaking about their faith all the time.

@@vonvicious7737 That's the problem with Islam. What you claim are the basic tenets are not the basic tenets for many other muslims. That's a confusion within the Islamic world and yet many non-Muslims have been killed because of the confusion for no fault of theis.
Even if we were to put that aside for a second, the bigger point is, basic tenets or not, those which I mentioned are still part of Islam. And not just fringe, they are all mainstream beliefs. A pew survey was even done few years ago to confirm that 70 to 90% muslims truly believe all those violent and barbaric parts of islam.

The basic tenets of this religion are the things I mentioned and it's what most Muslims who have a teacher in their life learn at school, because it's the most important.
I can't even see your comment anymore (deleted?) but you mentioned some Islamic Law stuff and not just the Sharia equivalents of crossing a red light. Marriage laws and punishment laws are not "basic" by any means, they are issues that go through a court procedure where different factors can be taken into account.

im dutch and i agree the polarization is self evident. from a cultural educational and fundamental perspective muslims/islam but also christians/Catholics/protestants need to go with the time and change/improve the laws of religion to follow suit that of basic human rights for males and females or in the least match it. in my leftist eye, if they can not adhere with the previous statement then religion has no real further value in human life. other then a hoby or a pas time activity.

In immigration, for example, how do you decide who you let in ? How do you evaluate where they fall on the spectrum ? How do you prevent "medina muslims" from getting in, or "mecca muslims" from becoming medina muslims ? Can you find a set of laws, or rules, that forbid one but allow the other ? Would muslims accept that ? And even then, you're not having an impact on all the medina muslims that live in muslim countries, and you do no prevent them from attacking you, like on 9/11 or 10/7. The problem is that the holy texts they take as reference contain the seed for violence, and domination. How do you deal with that, on a practical level ?
