    I love when he puts the plastic up to protect spraying in the neighbors beautiful garden, then sprays all over it when doing the top board lol

    I love natural cedar the silvering is a highly prized look. But it’s not for everyone. Pressure washing is addictive. Lol it’s fun to watch someone pressure was too. Yes satisfying is the word.

      I do love the natural ceddaring silver but this fence just look dirty in my opinion. Always feels good to shine up things to their original glory and yes pressure washing it is just Satisfying for sure ha ha.

    Nice job! I did my 20-year-old cedar fence the same way last year and it looks great, too. I used an oil-based product though. It was pretty stinky for a couple days, but I think it penetrants much better, especially with cedar.

    I love the "natural" finish so much better than the silver aged look (which is also a "natural" finish, I suppose). Great tip about the poly on the back of the fence.

      Do not do this tonyour fence. He is a fake and clearly knows nothing about cedar, cleaning lumber, sanding, or finishing products. I'm a professional. It's obvious to any professional that he doesn't have thenslightest clue what the concrete does and don'ts are in wood refinishing.

    It amazed me how much a difference just the power washing made. Very cool. If you said it and I missed it, my bad but may paint go in the particular sprayer? Say for spraying whicker or cane? Thanks. Cheers. Ivy.

    I'm just about to do this exact thing on my horizontal fence. The timing for this to pop up for me couldn't have been more perfect.
    Question: Did your neighbor not want to preserve the lighter look? I was planning to clean and treat both sides of my fence so that my neighbor wouldn't have to stare at a discoloring fence.

    Thoughts on doing both sides of the fence? Does that just come down to preference?

    • @BYOTools
      @BYOTools  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      you can definitely do double duty on your both sides but if you are using a water-based finish then make sure that you have the wood fully dried out before applying it. Don't want to seal in moisture. Thanks for watching.

    It is common courtesy to tell my neighbors I’m going to pressure wash? Could it hurt someone through gaps in the fence ?

    • @BYOTools
      @BYOTools  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep definitely tell your neighbors beforehand but I don't think you'll be hurting them unless they put their face close to the fence while I'm washing haha. Thanks for watching.

    The author does like to from scratch, th-cam.com/users/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practise the full stack project, is still great.

      Don't elaborate. That's really helpful.

    • @treeglass
      @treeglass ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Brandon Ficklin Touché salesman. First...don't use a pressure sprayer on any wood....softer wood=the worse it gets. The water lifts the fibers of the wood and it literally looks like teddy bear fur. All you need is a pump up sprayer and 1:4 bleach/water mixture. Spray the fence or house with the bleach water then hose it off before it dries. Done. Wood turns back to its natural color. If you just want to clean something, bleach water does not hurt paint. It's gorgeous. Same for siding on a house. Pressure sprayers are good for some concrete cleaning but unless turned down to their lowest setting, they can seriously mess up lumber, siding, concrete, and mortar between stones and concrete. All of that "teddy bear fur" is clearly visible in the video but yiu have to know what you're seeing. He had to have seen that fence after it dried and knew he screwed up. I just don't get running that video after he realized what he did when seeing the fence dry. It's not something you won't notice. I've got photos of a house in had to go fix after my sister-in-law didn't listen to me. Thenentire front of her house was wrecked from the pressure sprayer she was so excited about. I imagine it was even worse with this guy having done this to an especially soft wood like cedar.
