Matt, I love your channel. I live in Philadelphia area of Pennsylvania. My son lives in Bushwick in Brooklyn NYC. Would you ever consider leading a others for a paddle with you?
@kittymeow1010 Thank you for the love and support. I used to lead hikes but never kayaking trips. Logistically, it's challenging to schedule, parking issues, people canceling last minute and the list goes on. I really cherish my solo adventures. I appreciate you watching and commenting.
It figures that I have to see this video after seeing the story on the news about that guy whose jet ski failed out on the Poospatuck River and the woman who used her paddleboard to rescue him. Thank God she was there, she saved his life. Do you have any backup like an inflatable inner tube or something similar in the event of damage to your kayak? Asking for a friend🙂
Besides wearing my personal floatation device, I have "float bags", inflated bags in the front and rear voids of the kayak for added safety. I saw that on the news, too. I doubt the jet skier was wearing a dry suit. That's another precaution I take. I try to cover all angles to ensure my safety. I have a "paddle float" too. It's a float you use on your paddle to help you get back in the kayak if you ever need it in an emergency.
No, from that angle, you wouldn't be able to see the lighthouse, plus it's about 20+ miles to the west of there. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate it as always.

Welcome to some of Suffolk County jewels, the shorline. Unfortunately, the helicopters ruin the peace and tranquility as the shuttle between New York city and the hamptons. I do not understand why they are not made to fly over the water and not the shoreline. This is sore issue with some of it's residents.

I like to feel the paddle in my hands. If it was a little colder, I definitely would have needed them. If I ended up in the water, I would put them on. I had them secured on the deck of the kayak. Secured but easily accessible. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate it.
I like your videos but you're totally unprepared for immersion in the water. Not many boats out there to help you either. Also would not be in a fold up boat in the winter in ice.

Splendid winter kayak trip. Happy New Year to you and yours!
Thank you! I really appreciate you watching and commenting. Happy New Year!
When you were talking to the clam fisherman, was that the Fire Island Lighthouse just behind him?
No, from that angle, you wouldn't be able to see the lighthouse, plus it's about 20+ miles to the west of there. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate it as always.
@@TwoFeetOutdoorsThanks for all the videos. They’ve shown me a side of the New York City area I had no idea about :) 🇬🇧
🥶🥶🥶
😱🥶🥶
A foot and a half deep? You could’ve walked there! ;)
Hahaha. There definitely were deeper spots but overall, there are lots of shallow areas in the bay.
Hey man, congrats on getting to the 1,000,000 total views on your channel. For only being around 1 year, that is something to be proud of. Hope you had a great Christmas and a happy New Year
and "gulls" sounds stupid so seagull's is way better, these morons in the comments who have to try and correct everything, need to get a life and get outside more.
Thanks! It's been a great year, and I couldn't have done it without my amazing viewers. Cheers to another year of adventures! I love your perspective of the people in the comments who like to correct everything and hang onto every word. 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I really appreciate it.
I also find small aircraft also like to fly over / along the shoreline. Small planes are so loud.
Happy New Year
Happy New Year!! Thank you for watching and commenting.
Another enjoyable vid.amazing small island glad to see not too much rubbish.hope Christmas went well a very happy new year to you and your family.all the best from England.
Thank you so much for your support. I really appreciate you watching and commenting. Happy New Year.
Maintenance on the bridge is disgraceful. Steel rotted and concrete falling apart with reinforcement exposed. 😮
I believe they are planning to replace it soon. I drive over it all the time. Driving to and from kayaking is the most dangerous part of kayaking.
Lol
No gloves?
@@martharetallick204 I mentioned it in the video. I wasn't wearing gloves but had neoprene paddling gloves with me. I like to feel the paddle in my hands while paddling. If it was a few more degrees colder, I likely would have needed to wear them. It was doable without them on this trip. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I appreciate it.
You could’ve saved yourself some time and sanity, by taking the train or the bus, then the FERRY out to the island instead-we would’ve forgiven you
Hahaha, there's no ferry to that island. Lol. Gotta get there on your own. 😀
You should’ve worn your gloves while paddling
I like to feel the paddle in my hands. If it was a little colder, I definitely would have needed them. If I ended up in the water, I would put them on. I had them secured on the deck of the kayak. Secured but easily accessible. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate it.
I like your videos but you're totally unprepared for immersion in the water. Not many boats out there to help you either. Also would not be in a fold up boat in the winter in ice.
You can feel free to join me one day and I'll show you how it's done. 😀 I practice and can self rescue. No worries.
I disagree. Matt has the proper equipment on his person and in his boat to cope with immersion in winter and has practiced getting back in the kayak from the water. He knows what he is doing!
@bobemmerich8595 Thank you! I appreciate the backup and support. My safety is paramount.
