I believe that Sophie’s curse is a over exaggerated representation of what distress can do to your health.

@@heatherv3417 It is. From the start she was more than powerful enough to break the spell on her own, but her lack of self-confidence held her back.
there is two things that i find strange in this movie 1.in the japanese version why does Sophie calls the witch of the wast Grandmother its not even her grandmother 2. when sophie turned young again in the end of the film why did her hair still remained silver grey why did it not turn to brown how it was.
The book is super good, and has a few more details, but the movie is amazing as well
11:21 I don't understand why they decided to exit the castle if moments later they entered it and she had to give up her hair for the castle to be strong again
iirc when Howl joins the fight, Sophie assumes he cannot stop fighting because they are in the house/town, and decide to "move out" (transfer Calucifer/magic) from the oldhome/castle to the wasteland. However, this doesn't bring him back, because Howl also wanted to protect Sophie's house. So they rebuild the castle and go after him.

Studio Ghibli is my favorite movie studio for these reasons. Hayao Miyazaki is a literal legend.

I’m still trying to understand when and how in the movie did Sophie’s curse break, I started getting confused when she gave a lock of hair to calcifer because her old version has short hair and because her hair was still gray I thought she was still old? And none of the other characters pointed out when her curse was broken if it was
Calcifer promised to help her if she could help calcifer to break him free. Which Sophie did n her curse is broken.
One of my fav movies everrrrre
Loved this movie, however the book was sooooo much better. A lot was changed and left out unfortunately. All three books in this trilogy are amazing.
I don't know how many books are there but the one I read is nothing like the movie.

I'm not sure to be honest as I got them quite some time ago. If you need the names, they are: Howls Moving Castle, Castle in the Air, House of Many Ways. It's a great series.
