I love this series. Fushi’s journey is very well written. I love how his journey let him experience the good & bad of humanity.

The saddest death was probably the unamed boy, since he decided to travel that far to realize a stone telling him not to go beyond and that he had to go back to his house and I think he says "You can't even talk can you?" probably realizing that he was just talking to himself since everyone in his village left, and once he's in the house, he sits down on a chair looking very weak, and we see his drawings of other people with him and his dog. And then, he dies. Without knowing that his dog died and he was talking a rock, if Fushi never went to the unamed boy the unamed boy would probably go insane realizing he lost everyone he knew and would probably start the journey to that one rock.

This is one of a very few animes that made me cry. This is what it truly means to be immortal. You will see all that you care for die over and over again.

this is nowhere near enough the manga this is like the first 50 chapters theres like 161 chapters alltogether which is amazing i recommend it if you have time on ur hands and want to cry some

Just for anyone who wants to know, the reason gugu can breath flames is because when he was saved by pyoran’s lover he gave him an organ that produces alcohol. When it was discovered that the alcohol was flammable, gugu’s helmet was updated so that when it’s opened it produces a spark which, when he vomits out the alcohol, sets it on fire.Pyoran’s lover added the organ so that he might be able to sell it, kinda weird. Also, when fushi experiences pain from inanimate objects, he can clone those objects. So that’s how he gets weapons and such out of nowhere.

Yaaaaa it's a container that stores it not a organ that produces it. And he did it to get alcohol that fermented in the human body to sell it but it didn't come out the way he hoped so instead it was used as a weapon
I’m still pretty sure that it produces alcohol, since the stomach is also an organ which stores alcohol. If you think about it logically, he would have definitely run out of any alcohol from all the times he used it in the actual anime to use his fire. And even if pyoran’s lover wanted to just ferment the alcohol, then he could have just stored it in a pot or something similar.

Pyoran is the only death I cried for and that was the first time an anime made me genuinely cry in like 8 or 9 years it's not even that her death was the saddest(saddest was the kids on the island in my opinion) for me it just hit the hardest, I think it was because she had been around the longest and you had to watch her slowly go
she will reincarnate in season 2 as she told the creator of the protagonist to kill her so that she comes back to life and becomes more useful to him, as she thought she was a useless old hag, don't worry btw, season 2 is coming like next year or a few months

Years ago, I encountered this as a manga and man this made me cry a lot. Then suddenly it had an anime, I noped out. Full blown animation with sound and everything, my heart cant take that too much attack. But yeah the story is really well written.
Great summary, but I recommend those who haven't watched the anime, to watch the anime before the recap. It truly is worth your time.

Okay, so I tried to explain this anime to my girl and she thought I was having a god damned fever dream. She had no idea how any of it made sense. I know the show makes sense. If you watch it, it just makes sense. Give me another season already. I wanna see where this thing goes

Just tell her its a story about the human experience viewed through the eyes of an immortal that shapeshifted into a human being and comes to understand human emotions and loss. The show kind of just says this is life, it's gritty, it feels unfair, its oppressive and relentless, but that experience makes us value those genuine moments and interactions that bring us happiness even more, even when they are gone we may be sad that its gone but the happiness in those memories will never fade and grow to be more appreciated as time goes on.

Bro just say to her that, when the person fade away in this realm, that's where you can genuinely feel your emotions toward that person. Anger, Regret, Happiness, Agony, or Jealousy are strong emotions portraying your genuine feeling toward the deceased, it's about Cherishing Your Currently Life and What You Have Today, for a human like us, won't live long enough just like the MC, and also when you love to kept that memories of them, “you fight for it, because if you don't fight for it then kind of love are you fighting for” yeah just like that, turned it into heartfelt explanation

She has a way to make you feel her stories. is almost like a super power really.
This is why I love anime, the nature of animation gives creators complete freedom. The result is a beautiful series and incredible diversity.

Don't think the recapped version creates nearly as much of the same emotional weight/character depth as the full anime does. Really missing out by not watching the full thing imo.
Bruh it's like having immortal body with a cause of all your love one dying and dying over and over again untill you have no more emotional feeling

Honestly, this is one of the very few animes that I cried to. Personally I love how the anime is so immersive as I got to get a feel for characters as I felt empathy towards Fushi and others.
ngl thats a pretty misleading title for the show considering it never actually directly controls a living being, just simply has the ability to copy the body of dead beings it had touched when they were alive. It then uses the connection it had and what it learned from the souls of the bodies it copies to grow and understand the purpose and value of life and stuff
