One of my favorite Castlevanias, I love the soundtrack, and this is definitely one of the hardest, especially the last gauntlet fights. Never watched TAS or Speedrun of this game, loved it.
Indestructible projectiles like bombs and lasers still hurt him while he swings, found that out the hard way trying to cheese the barrel room in stage 5.
Dracula be like "No Belmont no problem" untill he sees 6ft tall guy from fckin Texas jumping and swinging all over Europe to just unlive him like a little bitch :D
Those weren't that great, listenable, but not amazing. I had the Genesis w/Sonic, and then got a SNES; and I switched back and forth between games that I got for them. As a person who who owned both consoles of that time period, SNES had the better sound card(s).
What the hell? The rotating blades at 13:40 does not cause damage? All those years, I avoided getting hit by inching forward through the grooved cuts for nothing? Hahahahaha!!!! Holy S.
I'm absolute SNES over Mega Drive. Games overall, and most of all sound. However, between this and Super Castlevania IV I say this is several levels better. The instruments and SFXes take away from it, yet the soundtrack here is amazing, while SCIV settled for atmosphere. Even visually I like the colours here. SCIV gave us Simon's theme, possibly even the best version of it, and that's it. Bloodlines gave us a proper 16 bit Castlevania experience that isn't Dracula X, along with an additional playable character.
I LOVE seeing Castlevania runs. The series as a whole commands a deep respect from me. There are only 4 games in the entire franchise that I actively dislike. The two on N64, Haunted Castle, and Adventure 1.
I completely forgot John Morris could swing from ceilings. That shit's crazy.

I've never played this but the fittingly epic lagginess in the final phase Dracula must have raised hairs back in the day.
I didn't even know he's invincible while doing the whip swing.

I've used John Morris once for the Castlevania Bloodlines game, man did I have a hell of a time using him and beating that game
This is one of my favorite Castlevanias!
The art of making victory poses
Edit: wait that golem death was a reference to Terminator 2?
4:57 What?! What happened to the other boss?!
The vampire killer didnt consume life force from john
John Morris consumed all the life force from the whip, and died because of too much life force
Hands down, the best soundtrack of the 16 bit Vanias.
Especially level 4
You mean the 2 16 bit games?
@@Kensterrrrr 3: Bloodlines, Super CV4, and Dracula X/Vampire’s Kiss (Rondo of Blood variation).
Rondo/X68000 better imo. Compositions are good but I feel the genesis sound chip holds this one back.
Castlevania 4 in the SNES has the best OST
That last stage looks brutal.
John Morris beats the motherfucking shit out of everything he sees while pogo-ing across the country: *The Movie*
This is really cool
This game looks amazing.
That was awesome. He uses the whip better than any Belmont.
Faster than the Eric Lecarde TAS 👀
Castlevania: Dracula's bouncy castle
These are the most piercing sound effects of any Castlevania game, what the hell are you on, Genesis
The genesis had a low pass filter that this emulator had disabled.
It's Genesis, that console's sound card was ass.
@@enkerzan3755 not really, I quite like it.
@@enkerzan3755 the soundtracks for the genesis sonic games prove that wrong

There was a brief moment where I thought the run was going to end with 69 subweapon ammo.
Why does John use jumping as his normal movement tech but Eric simply walks?
John saves 4 frames for every jump
So John DOES move faster jumping by game design. Interesting.
Due to their movement speeds and jumping physics, John saves a couple of frames each jump, but Eric loses a couple each jump.
John and Eric move at the same speed in mid-air
While, relative to the air speed, Johns' strut is slower while Eric's is faster
TAS Bloodlines?
Hippity hoppity whippidy skippidy. And it _still_ takes longer than it should to get up stairs.
This game used to piss me off so bad when i was a kid 😂
Nice victory poses!

The hit boxes don't match up perfectly, so you can literally jitter, and jump through them at specific points
This is a TAS, if you aren’t 100% familiar with the hitboxes it will take 40% of your health
Bro's either got god mode on or sleeps with this game playing in his head :)

That 2nd to last boss looked extremely annoying to fight.
John Morris jumps around like a jittery jackass in this run! 😂
😲😲😲😲😲
18:36 Is Morris on drugs or something lol
he just defeated a giant moth demon who sprinkled poison, possibly halucinogenic powder everywhere, so...
your explanation is correct
Nah, he just enjoying the best of life, i mean, you gotta keep exercising when going across Europe do defeat a vampire army
