Good video. I have had several of these vans. Unless you polish or replace the sway bar, the sway bar eats up the new bushings within 20-30k miles. Moog makes a problem solver bushing with a nylon insert I highly recommend. In combination with a sway bar, your good to go. Very common problem!

Thanks for adding this tip! I don't need to do this again in another 30K.

Thanks, just change mine after watching the video. The mechanic wanted $130 to replace mine, that's labour and parts. Paid $20 for the pair and after 1/2hr to include watching the video mine is all done. Thanks a lot

That was EXCELLENT. I'm going to do this BEFORE replacing the struts now. I have a clunk in the front suspension ... not the sway bar link, not the ball joints, not the tie rods (outer or inner) ... only two things left that it could be. $18 (bushings) vs ~$500 (struts) ... start with the $18 fix. Well down. Thumbs up and a subscribe. Love my 2005 DGCaravan van ... great utility vehicle, hockey transport van, and it happily puts up with the mess that kids generate -- the 3.8L kicks some a$$ too (tow hitch is a plus as well). Going to keep this safe and reliably running for as long as I can ... thanks to guys like you!!.

My 05 van has the same sound especially turning and front tires outside wore quickly, I will try that soon.

Thanks for making this, man. I have to replace them on my Dodge, and I wasn't sure if that top end of the bracket had a hidden bolt and I'd have to take it to a shop to have it done. Good to know it's an easy fit with that tab at the top. Much appreciated!

I installed the blue Moog bushings a couple of years ago on my wife's 2006. They are already worn! We only got about 15k out of them. Hearing the old thump thump now. I read in a forum that you have to clean and polish the sway bar where the bushings ride. Also lubricate everything when you put it back together. In the Caravan forum several people have installed: Dorman OE Solutions 928-327 Front Sway Bar Bushing Bracket Kit. They say the brackets are thicker and fit tighter and will last much longer. This is what I am going to do and hopefully lasts. Wear safety glasses when doing this repair. When I changed out the bushings the first time one of the brackets fell and hit me, almost took my eye out! Needles to say I now wear safety glasses anytime I work under the car. You don't want to lose an eye doing this kind of stuff.

Tip: I fought replacing mine then unbolted the lower sway bar link nearest CV shaft as I did each side then reattached. Made it much easier.

My buddy replaced my bushings on my 2001 Caravan and heated them for a couple of minutes in boiling water, they were much easier to install

That's good, I thought that was a big gas filter, then you said abs . Omg. I got the exact same bushings. Had to soak them in hot water to get them to spread.

Thanks for sharing, I liked it. However, for people like me who dont do this often it would be helpful how you actually remove the part and back, especially those parts which we need to kind of play with them when replacing.
    Thanks!

Did you have to loosen the link kits to gain flexibility to place bushins on the bar?

At 5:00 The cut may go down on the ones you bought, but my factory bushings the cut went on the frame. The important thing is to match up the indentation on the bushing to the protrusion on the bracket so the bushings do not slide out of the bracket.

You have to unhook the sway bar link to get enough clearance to put the cut in the right spot

Moog do HD bushings part number K200601 now will last a lot longer ask for them otherwise they give you the old ones to get rid of them.

Wow, putting on the bushing and taking off the old bit bushing is a major part of the project. Wouldn't it have been nice to show a little bit of footage of taking off the old bushing and putting on the new bushing?

COMMENT: My Haynes manual says to lubricate Sway Bar only with vegetable oil as mineral oil will deteriorate the bushing. QUESTION: I see 2 sizes of sway bar bushings offred 7/8 and 1 inch. Which is standard? Excellent video Well done!

      @FixingWithPassion  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

TVWXMAN32 All 96-00 have 1 inch bars, doesn't matter what engine it has. How are your bushings now? My blue Moog bushings went bad in 6 months, will be replacing with the new black Moog bushing that are 17% wider in few weeks. For the 01-07 the black Moog bushings comes with a nylon insert.

If you have touring suspension, you should not get the Moogs, get the ones from the dealer. They are not blue.
