I always dreamed that in HL there would be a class system with exact times in which you had to attend each class even with a curfew to sleep and that there would be a risk of being discovered if they saw you hanging around the hallways at that time. It would also be great if many quests were with schedules and in many of those quests you have to skip some class or another, thus causing problems with some teachers, and something else that in my opinion is missing are more charismatic or memorable classmates from your own house and from other houses just like there are in the Harry Potter movies.
I had the same dream. I'm trying to achieve some of that here with modding. I also introduced some new characters in this mod I think have more to them than the HL characters. Closer to the HP book characters. If you finish all the classes you'll meet them all. I'd love an opportunity to flesh them out more at some point.
@@Lam0rak It sounds incredible, characters from the books and with their characteristic personalities and even some secondary mission with some lore about them, there could even be a liking system according to answers, in my opinion with this and my first comment it would be the perfect game based in the world of harry potter
i really thought that was the direction they were going for in the first couple hours. Introducing yourself to house mates, doing the occasional quest for them, and having to teleport back to the dormitory because of curfew. the collection section is also really missing character profiles. would be nice to know more about staff and classmates. fill up with more lore as we speak to them and progress their questlines
yea, but I did get the feeling during the hype train that people were ignoring what the developers were saying they were making in favor of what they wanted the developers to make.
Time and priority constraints. At some point developers just have to cut off the development and sell the game. There will always be something more to implement but that way you never leave the circle of implementing just one more another feature.
this mod actually feels good with all the other mods. this mod + curfew, enhanced enemies, emote with npc and companions makes this game actually my favorite since skyrim. keep up the good work!
Thanks, I'm just happy I could contribute in some way. Nathdev is the creator of most of those. He's a modding powerhouse. All of the key elements are falling into place. Next the mods need polishing so they fit completely seamlessly into the game.
They made the most beautiful rendition of the castle ever put to screen.... and then they send us to kill spiders in caves for 50 hours. Thank you so much for all this work. Maybe I'll replay the game now. I was so sad about the structure of the base game. No school life, no social life... instead it felt like a Ubisoft game.
HL needed this. Never really felt like you got the Hogwarts experience not having classes. This plus minigames like potion making from Half Blood Prince would've been great. Good work on this mod, hopefully the next game has something like this.
I wish they made it like BULLY - the classes system, reeard after each successfull class that significantly improves gameplay by unlocking new abilities or equipment, curfew times, prefacts all over the campus chasing you if you fuck up, detention mini game like lawn mowing, there's so much more from bully that could've been used in this just put the Hp Spin on them
Absolutely agree that the lack of student attending classes moment is what definitely ruined the game for me and the reason I never finished it I understand how people can be annoyed about such a system but it’s really a game that needed a persona type of daily and hourly schedule imo, we needed way more moments to bond with our classmates and teachers
I would have been happy for it to just have been a hogwarts simulator with all the side stuff dealing with hogwarts instead of the flying broom challenges, merlin trials, ect. Finding the constellations at least made sense for astrology class. The weekends/nights is when we could have focused on the actual story/side quests or just do some exploring. The story and side quests should have taken place in just the school/hogsmeade so that way they could have developed those places, the important places, way way way more. I don't care about those small little hamlets scattered around.
So glad to see someone doing this. Over 100 hours in the base game and boy does it get stale without the mods provided by people like you and your colleagues. Will be checking this mod out soon! Keep it up, please!
I like the idea of homework being outside tasks or maybe a task needed for detention instead, like collect [x] items from the grounds/forest for herbology or potions stockroom. Creators missed an easy opportunity to incorporate a quiz aspect to the classes since the character is new and would need to catch up and it would give world details concerning the story or the magical world for new players. I was looking forward to interactive classes.
Its, so cool that you are slowly fixing all the things that the game missed!... In terms of studying for an exam I also thought that it could be like: the teacher gives you certain terms you have to study about and so you have to go to the library to take out books where you think those "keywords" may be (for example if the exam is going to be about magical creatures and one of the keywords is "centaur", you will take out a book from the library shelves related to those things) And so, the more keywords you find in the books before the exam, the higher your final grade will be. And also would be cool that you can carry those books like in the inventory, and can sit and pull them out in what ever place you want to study in (in the common room, in your bedroom, in a bench out in the castle fields, etc) 🤤😍

I was hoping for school to be more like how it was in Bully. Had to adhere to a school schedule, though skipping was always a possibility. And while in class there were mini games to complete which helped you outside of the class.
This is so cool, i could totally see something like this but witht he option to actually see the 2 hours of studying as like ambiance with option to skip and keep playing
Thank you so much, please i beg you to work towards a realistic dorm sleeping feature to the game, it would improve the game feel so much if by night time you would have to go sleep in your dorms or else you would have to avoid wandering teachers like that Prisoner of Azkhaban scene and if you are caught you would lose house points, then some players would try quests at night anyway despite the risks and that i feel like would be a true HP experience. I was really excited for a school life experience but was met with basically a GoW Reboot reskin, im actually surprised they added day and night at all but ruined it as a whole by it just meaning your player would awkwardly sleep on the floor instead of actually feeling like things change and matter.
Thank you for bringing this up. It was certainly on my mind but thinking about it now this really needs to be our top priority. Hopefully fully functional sleeping is available soon, and the curfew mod (Also from Nathdev) is out right now and provides the avoid wandering teachers/prefects experience you mentioned.

This is an awesome idea, and with the limited stuff modding can do it's amazing you accomplished this. Only thing that would make it better is if instead of text we actually had cutscenes, but again given the limitations of what mods can do I understand why this isn't what the mod did. Here's hoping HL2 takes inspiration from this mod and does something similar.
It looks so good! Can't wait to test it. I hope that after finishing the game I will be able to do this classes..cuz now Hogwart in its original state is quite lifeless and boring... Such mods bring so much depth and meaning to this game. ❤
i tested the mod since yesterday (had 4 classes so far) and while it is a Great experience its not perfect yet. my (minor) problems with the mod: -classes give EP : it is unbelievable Easy to level up in this game, so anything that gives extra EP feels unnecessary unless there is something that is worthwile to get the EP for. - i got an Empty Side Quest indicator near charms class on the hogwarts map, it cannot be tracked, it has no text and there is nothing in the journal about it. -There is no symbol or glowing ring(etc..) in the library to indicate where exactly you can do your homework, an owl post says "upper right" but you will still walk around and hopefully notice the "homework" prompt that will suddenly pop up(like in the video). So people who didnt saw this video (like myself) will still search a bit.) - Save before taking a class, sometime the quest didnt start properly and a text like "Misson ID not found" will pop up. a loading of a save before taking the class can help. - a missing housepoint indicator (or maybe i just missed it?) i could not see if i recieved housepoints from homework or class decision.(or maybe that comes later in a part of the mod i have not yet seen.) Again i really love the mod, and these problems are not a big issue. just wanted to let other people know what to expect.
@@Lam0rak You are very Welcome. have found another Bug, this one might be a little bigger. - if you use controller on PC and you use it in a Decision in a class story, to progress the story. ,there is a chance that the class will end immediatly after when you tap on "choose", i have saved before and reloaded a few times, and it always happened when i used the controller instead of pushing F on the keyboard. Slight spoiler: The one where i discovered it was the herbology class where Everett asked how to impress someone. and everytime i used the controller to click on choose the class would faite out and end instead of continuing the story. So yeah, for people with controllers. use your keyboard when Class events and choices happen.
Bully has existed for almost 20 years and games still don't try to learn from its example. This'll be great for a second playthrough. I plan to eventually have a character for each house. Modders are the real MVPs
Sadly most studios don't learn from the example of what was most fun, they learn from the example of what made the most money. Often missing the real reasons those games were so successful.
Just tested it and it fits pretty well with the game. However I don't like how there are classes every single day because you can't do missions happening at the same time, otherwise the game considers you missed class.
Well welcome to Hogwarts. You either attend classes or face detention after missing 3. So you can go off and do other missions, but you can't ignore your studies too long. Some players such as yourself might see this as a negative, others like myself see it as a positive.
That was probably why they didn’t do that in the first place but I think the conflict is exactly the point! And it allows there to really be more of a reputation for the character. Are you a good little Hufflepuff who goes to class or a badass Slytherine that is always sneaking off campus? Are you a nerdy Ravenclaw teacher’s pet taking all the extra credit or a friendly and courageous Gryffindor who helps out classmates? I suggest letting the character also accept responsibilities as a head boy/girl or prefect for their house depending on how they complete classes assignments and help other students.
Omg! I love this a lot .. I will make sure to add that to my 2nd playthrough. I am still going through HL ... as I wasn't fortunate to get it on release and just got it for myself a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for creating this :D
This is absolutely amazing, you may make me actually replay the game, thanks so much for your hard work. Honestly, more od this and more mods like this could make the game exactly what I hoped it would have been before it was released, so psyched to see this. And I totally agree with you, Im still dissapointed that this game is more like Ubisoft open world game than a being a student at hogwarts experience, I really thought that they will lean a lot more into Persona like features, calendar, day night cycle, spending time with friends, learning spells in classes etc., the first game did not need to be end of the world threat immidiately, it just makes our character seriously weird. As for suggestions, I think everyone would love more interactions with your.. well not companions sadly but the other important characters, maybe you could chat with them during the class? Get a few options in dialogue to get to know them more and some rudamentary affection/reputation system? Honestly that would just make the game for me, even if it would just be fanon I would appreciate the crap out of it.
@@Lam0rak Yea :( At least we still have Hogwarts Mystery, which is imo easily best HP game in decade and a half but it is still a mobile game... Tho if you and yours manage to somehow bring some of these features into Legacy via modding it would be huge, I wouldnt mind helping financially over Patreon or whatever if you guys decide to continue with stuff like this and add what is missing. In either case, thanks for your hard work.
Man, just imagine if Rockstar or From Software made Hogwarts with all the rp possibilities and the attention to detail and freedom they are known for. Like, cmon, I can cast Avada Kedavra aiming at a student but it just phases through them while the teachers are like "hahaha just don't do that again" Also, how is it possible that in a Hogwarts game, they used the magic voice mails instead of letting you choose and have an owl pet? They literally implemented feeding and grooming spells for the animals you kidnap, and they have the owl models ingame already, it couldn't be that hard.
I always thought there should be a system like that and even mini games around classes like in Bully. For example in potion class you would have to do some actions and if you fail you can break your cauldron or phial and have to buy new ones. This way you don't get too rich too quickly 😂 Afterall school supplies is a big part of the charm of the first book ! (Btw i also always thought there should be at least some lines exchanged with Sebastian or Ominis in some classes because some crazy stuff happens, he sits almost next to you in class and your characters just ignore each others it's crazy)
Agree with all of this. I worked some interactions with Seb and other students (Including some new faces) into my classes, so keep an eye out for those!
Looks great, would be great to give the world around hogwarts a bit more of a magical touch aswell. feels quiet empty the farther you go from hogwarts. But maybe one day thats filled aswell :)
Any plans for future hogwarts legacy mods? No ones made a proper spell expansion mod yet. So many interesting and cool ones, but im sure each and every one would be incredibly complex and require a lot of animation, particle work, etc
I'm just the writer and some of the creative fuel behind this mod. It'll be up to Nathdev and other modders to determine what comes next. But I'll keep pushing for better and bigger mods so we can bring this game closer to what we all originally dreamed of. I certainly would love to see an expanded and more varied spell library.
I also see where having classes could have helped with relationships with other NPCs. Ok so say we mess up a spell or potion in class. Then we have n opportunity to make that up by studying with Amit to increase the effectiveness of the spell or potion.
Classes and the general school schedule (Meals, sports games, etc.) should have been the foundation for the entire game. And yes you're right, that includes character development and relationships.
I want all the students to wear different robes whenever ig go into the school i really feel weird that my own character is wearing different outfits while other are all wearing the same uniform
Hopefully HL2 will be the full game we've been hoping for. But I don't feel like HL1 proved the concepts that HL2 needs to have beyond proving an HP game can be extremely successful financially.
I've not played the game at all yet, very surprised to find out there isn't classes. I would have expected something like what bully does were you unlock new abilities, skills and collectables for completing classes. its just strange to have a game about a school that would have nothing to do with school work
Well there is single class of each subject and teachers give you sidequest assignments to unlock new spells but after that no studying in this game about magical school. Creator really should've focused more on the Hogwarts aspect, not the open world
I hope one day someone makes a mod that revamps potion crafting into something similar to kingdom come deliverance, though I doubt the engine could support any first person mini game :(
HL devs: Let's put our talented and resourceful men into working on 612 Merlin's Trials, 2,954 Small Caves with mediocre items, and 984,365 scheduled suburban NPCs around the map instead of making Hogwarts a proper school.
Unfortunately the team behind this game has 0 game design skills. They created a masterpiece of a world but with 4 different enemies, 3 or 4 puzzles repeating over and over, boring caracters and teachers, no quidditch because of the upcomong quidditch game and uninteresting slide quests. Im pretty sure there are more issues im missremembering
A lot of talented people worked on this game. But at the end of the day you can't deny that the people ultimately making the final design choices made some very bad decisions.
I think the team probably had the same ideas as us. It seems like curfew and also students following you during missions was supposed to be features in the game. My theory is that the open world ruined everything. When we think about it such a big open world wasn't necessary. The team probably had this imperative and spent a lot of time on it just for the sake of telling "hey we have an open world !" Then they had to fill this empty world with stupid quests like Merlin quests and the boring side quests that random witch gives you. At the end they had to rush the gameplay of Hogwarts.
Good damn work, guys! One other thing except classes, is how the f, there are not many easter eggs in the castle apart from some, when in the books, the castle itself is one big secret. Like there should be a ton of them to explore, and not the same 3-4 damn animations of the knight statues hitting each other. Come on, Portkey, didn't you read the books?!
While if you look closely there are lots of great nods like the prefects bathroom matching the book description, etc. there's so much more they could have and should have done. Also why the castle isn't riddled with secret passages is beyond me.

There are a few things that shouldve been different, like instead of upgrading a spell in the talent tree younwould have to attend defense against the dark arts class to lvl up your spells, instead of using the room of requirments for potion making you should have to attendbpotion classes to make potions, both regular ones and ones with upgraded effects. Going to a history class would actually unlock a new place for you to visit in the world like a ruined castle or something like that, we need to get something out of going to classes if not theres no point and i rather it stays as is.
Certainly good ideas. I like having classes in some form even if they're not deeply tied into progression. Immersion is what I want from this game, but I think most people (Especially non Harry Potter fans) would agree that there needs to be a a gameplay based reason for classes.

Is this the first mod that adds more quests? To me that's what the game was desperately missing - a ton more side quests like all the random dungeons and npc encounters in Skyrim.
@@Lam0rak There definitely need to be more mods that add content you can actually go and do. All the cosmetic additions, npc schedule stuff, and difficulty tweaking is nice, but so far from everything else I've seen on nexus, nothing really adds actual gameplay/content. It'd be really sick if mods eventually could add their own custom dungeon maps with sidequests, somewhat similar to the Rescuing Rococo one, just a small dungeon - or even just reuse existing dungeon areas giving you a way to revisit them and go back through the dungeons to pick up something for some npc.

I think many of you would like to see more of the action that’s going on in Hogwarts Legacy; and yes, the Wizarding World is about duelling, beasts and dark wizards too. But I on the other hand would love to feel like a normal Hufflepuff-student for once. This includes studies, classes, sneaking up at night with my friends, OWL’s etc, immersion, Diagon Alley etc. I don’t feel the need of being the savior of the Wizarding World. I would also wish for: - More spells: Not only usefull ones. They could include jinxes etc. - Deeper immersion: Being able to sit by the fire. Reading books we already know stuff about (The History of Hogwarts etc). - More beasts. - A map consisting of Hogwarts, the grounds, the lake (underwater?), the forbidden forest and Hogsmeade, Diagon Alley and the Ministry. - Consequences of your actions. - More magical plants and more herbology. - More subjects. -Quidditch. - Wizards Chess. - Animagus. The list can be made long but yeah, that’s some of my so many ideas. So yes, I would love a simulation-like. I wish you all the best! 🧙🏼♂️
I agree that a sim would be best. Skyrim is a sim in a lot of ways and it's widely regarded as one of the best RPGs ever made. I strongly believe that's the route RPGs are going in over the next decade.
I just wanted an online harry potter game why couldn't we pick the school we want to go to in a huge mmo experience? Anyone who misses X amount of classes gets booted from school and theyre forced to either learn party trick magic at home get a job or become a villian and stealing students spellbooks and foing what villains do. I see potential, but maybe im ahead of my time

One thing annoyed me is I think at night they should’ve been prefects and teachers on guard and if you get caught out of bed at night, you lose house points and may have to do an detention like in bully aka candis Candem edit and doing well in classes should’ve awarded you house points and I think there should’ve been actual classes you have to take and be on time and they should’ve been an option that let you actually sleep in your dormitory I think they should’ve been dementors as an enemy and you should’ve been able to learn Expecto Patronum and choose your Patronus And have the option to be able to become an Animagus
AI would have allowed us to create 100+ mediocre classes not worth anyones time in minutes. Actually writing them over the course of weeks means we have less but each one is something special. Something with a soul. I think because of this we'll see the death of generative ai for creative uses die off fairly quickly.

Also, personally I just don't see why I should spend my time reading something that wasn't created by someone. Anyway, great work! Classes and overall experience of being a Hogwart student are what this game lacks.
As a Ravenclaw I was deeply disappointed by any actual classes or class knowledge in the game. Eventually I just stopped playing. To fee classes, and when I focused on breeding to save the "rare" creatures but there was always tons of them everywhere, I just couldn't find the fun really. I would have loved to see all of the mods that are around now. I'll have to give the game another try modded.
I think next game they will have it online like quidditch, every “battlepass” u will earn a couple spells for in game use, so go to classes for a month learn a spell, I think it could be good… as much as I hate online only games 😂😓
Interesting idea. But I don't think that would be the best approach. I would opt for a more immersive method where you learn spells through just doing classes (No matter when you do them) and finding spell books throughout the world. I would have upwards of 50 spells personally.
I just started a save and am already 20 hours in. If I install the mod now can I continue this save or will I need to start a new one? I am new to mods so an explanation would be of great help. Edit: Went to the Nexus mod page a realized the class system starts after beasts class. Luckily I literally just finished Rackham's Trail so I right on par!
Yep, you can download it at any point in any save. As long as you're past beasts class you'll start getting the class quests. If you're not past beasts class they'll start as soon as you do complete that quest.
It's a pain in the ass but possible. Avalanche should have included full mod support. Instead they worked overtime to ensure modding was as hard as possible. Absolutely shameful.
I’m sorry, I don’t have the game. But are there no classes at all in the og game? Back when they were doing developer play tests and interviews they were explaining the open world mechanics of the game. Saying that you are free to explore but you do have classes at specific times and will be reprimanded if you don’t go to them. Are you saying they didn’t go through with that?
There are only about 7 class cutscenes, half of which don't even have dialogue or any sort of interaction. All of them are in the first few hours of the game. They do little to make you feel truly immersed in the role of a Hogwarts student. Also most of them are required quests you can't skip, and there's no punishment for ignoring the few which are optional like History of Magic.
Oh yes.. this is the type of thing to make me re-download it.. I made space for the Original games, and Quidditch WC, quidditch champions, etc.. now we just need quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy 😅

What you did was AMAZING and I'm sure it took a lot of effort and creativity that I could never possess. They always seem to want Hogwarts to be real just so they can attend it and take classes and I never understood it

I started playing Legacy on console this week (Series S) just because I wanted to kick back and relax on my couch with a game in the living room. I was really missing my mods but I could do without for one playthrough. That was until I found a freaking door that required loading the other part of the castle. Now I’m looking at connecting my PC to the living room TV and hey why not get all the cool mods again from before and see what’s new? I’m dreading reinstalling them all but I know it’ll be worth it!
For non Harry Potter fans it probably would be boring if done poorly or just alright like we were limited to with this mod. But if it was done really well it'd be fun for any player.

Hard to understand why we can’t sit on chairs and banks in the original game if modders can make it happen
Nathdev also has a mod called Emote With any NPC that allows for sitting along with a few other features. And it's compatible with Class System.
Time and priority constraints. At some point developers just have to cut off the development and sell the game. There will always be something more to implement but that way you never leave the circle of implementing just one more another feature.
Modders dont have a set time to release a game

this mod actually feels good with all the other mods. this mod + curfew, enhanced enemies, emote with npc and companions makes this game actually my favorite since skyrim. keep up the good work!
Thanks, I'm just happy I could contribute in some way. Nathdev is the creator of most of those. He's a modding powerhouse. All of the key elements are falling into place. Next the mods need polishing so they fit completely seamlessly into the game.

HL needed this. Never really felt like you got the Hogwarts experience not having classes. This plus minigames like potion making from Half Blood Prince would've been great. Good work on this mod, hopefully the next game has something like this.

I wish they made it like BULLY - the classes system, reeard after each successfull class that significantly improves gameplay by unlocking new abilities or equipment, curfew times, prefacts all over the campus chasing you if you fuck up, detention mini game like lawn mowing, there's so much more from bully that could've been used in this just put the Hp Spin on them
Absolutely agree that the lack of student attending classes moment is what definitely ruined the game for me and the reason I never finished it I understand how people can be annoyed about such a system but it’s really a game that needed a persona type of daily and hourly schedule imo, we needed way more moments to bond with our classmates and teachers

I would have been happy for it to just have been a hogwarts simulator with all the side stuff dealing with hogwarts instead of the flying broom challenges, merlin trials, ect. Finding the constellations at least made sense for astrology class. The weekends/nights is when we could have focused on the actual story/side quests or just do some exploring. The story and side quests should have taken place in just the school/hogsmeade so that way they could have developed those places, the important places, way way way more. I don't care about those small little hamlets scattered around.

I like the idea of homework being outside tasks or maybe a task needed for detention instead, like collect [x] items from the grounds/forest for herbology or potions stockroom. Creators missed an easy opportunity to incorporate a quiz aspect to the classes since the character is new and would need to catch up and it would give world details concerning the story or the magical world for new players. I was looking forward to interactive classes.

In terms of studying for an exam I also thought that it could be like: the teacher gives you certain terms you have to study about and so you have to go to the library to take out books where you think those "keywords" may be (for example if the exam is going to be about magical creatures and one of the keywords is "centaur", you will take out a book from the library shelves related to those things) And so, the more keywords you find in the books before the exam, the higher your final grade will be.
And also would be cool that you can carry those books like in the inventory, and can sit and pull them out in what ever place you want to study in (in the common room, in your bedroom, in a bench out in the castle fields, etc) 🤤😍
Good idea. We'll certainly keep it in mind, and adding more studying spots is definitely something I'll push for.

I was hoping for school to be more like how it was in Bully. Had to adhere to a school schedule, though skipping was always a possibility. And while in class there were mini games to complete which helped you outside of the class.
This is so cool, i could totally see something like this but witht he option to actually see the 2 hours of studying as like ambiance with option to skip and keep playing
It's sad they sacrificed good ROLE-PLAYING gameplay for a boring and cliched (linear) story. I hope they get their priorities straight for the sequel.

Thank you so much, please i beg you to work towards a realistic dorm sleeping feature to the game, it would improve the game feel so much if by night time you would have to go sleep in your dorms or else you would have to avoid wandering teachers like that Prisoner of Azkhaban scene and if you are caught you would lose house points, then some players would try quests at night anyway despite the risks and that i feel like would be a true HP experience.
I was really excited for a school life experience but was met with basically a GoW Reboot reskin, im actually surprised they added day and night at all but ruined it as a whole by it just meaning your player would awkwardly sleep on the floor instead of actually feeling like things change and matter.
Thank you for bringing this up. It was certainly on my mind but thinking about it now this really needs to be our top priority. Hopefully fully functional sleeping is available soon, and the curfew mod (Also from Nathdev) is out right now and provides the avoid wandering teachers/prefects experience you mentioned.

This is an awesome idea, and with the limited stuff modding can do it's amazing you accomplished this. Only thing that would make it better is if instead of text we actually had cutscenes, but again given the limitations of what mods can do I understand why this isn't what the mod did.
Here's hoping HL2 takes inspiration from this mod and does something similar.

Yes, you can do the classes at any point after the "Beasts Class" quest early in the game.
i tested the mod since yesterday (had 4 classes so far) and while it is a Great experience its not perfect yet.
my (minor) problems with the mod:
-classes give EP : it is unbelievable Easy to level up in this game, so anything that gives extra EP feels unnecessary unless there is something that is worthwile to get the EP for.
- i got an Empty Side Quest indicator near charms class on the hogwarts map, it cannot be tracked, it has no text and there is nothing in the journal about it.
-There is no symbol or glowing ring(etc..) in the library to indicate where exactly you can do your homework, an owl post says "upper right" but you will still walk around and hopefully notice the "homework" prompt that will suddenly pop up(like in the video). So people who didnt saw this video (like myself) will still search a bit.)
- Save before taking a class, sometime the quest didnt start properly and a text like "Misson ID not found" will pop up. a loading of a save before taking the class can help.
- a missing housepoint indicator (or maybe i just missed it?) i could not see if i recieved housepoints from homework or class decision.(or maybe that comes later in a part of the mod i have not yet seen.)
Again i really love the mod, and these problems are not a big issue. just wanted to let other people know what to expect.

have found another Bug, this one might be a little bigger.
- if you use controller on PC and you use it in a Decision in a class story, to progress the story. ,there is a chance that the class will end immediatly after when you tap on "choose", i have saved before and reloaded a few times, and it always happened when i used the controller instead of pushing F on the keyboard.
Slight spoiler:
The one where i discovered it was the herbology class where Everett asked how to impress someone. and everytime i used the controller to click on choose the class would faite out and end instead of continuing the story.
So yeah, for people with controllers. use your keyboard when Class events and choices happen.

Bully has existed for almost 20 years and games still don't try to learn from its example. This'll be great for a second playthrough. I plan to eventually have a character for each house. Modders are the real MVPs
Sadly most studios don't learn from the example of what was most fun, they learn from the example of what made the most money. Often missing the real reasons those games were so successful.
Just tested it and it fits pretty well with the game. However I don't like how there are classes every single day because you can't do missions happening at the same time, otherwise the game considers you missed class.
Well welcome to Hogwarts. You either attend classes or face detention after missing 3. So you can go off and do other missions, but you can't ignore your studies too long. Some players such as yourself might see this as a negative, others like myself see it as a positive.
That was probably why they didn’t do that in the first place but I think the conflict is exactly the point! And it allows there to really be more of a reputation for the character. Are you a good little Hufflepuff who goes to class or a badass Slytherine that is always sneaking off campus? Are you a nerdy Ravenclaw teacher’s pet taking all the extra credit or a friendly and courageous Gryffindor who helps out classmates? I suggest letting the character also accept responsibilities as a head boy/girl or prefect for their house depending on how they complete classes assignments and help other students.
How they didn’t put the kids in different outfits throughout the day is beyond me.

This is absolutely amazing, you may make me actually replay the game, thanks so much for your hard work. Honestly, more od this and more mods like this could make the game exactly what I hoped it would have been before it was released, so psyched to see this.
And I totally agree with you, Im still dissapointed that this game is more like Ubisoft open world game than a being a student at hogwarts experience, I really thought that they will lean a lot more into Persona like features, calendar, day night cycle, spending time with friends, learning spells in classes etc., the first game did not need to be end of the world threat immidiately, it just makes our character seriously weird.
As for suggestions, I think everyone would love more interactions with your.. well not companions sadly but the other important characters, maybe you could chat with them during the class? Get a few options in dialogue to get to know them more and some rudamentary affection/reputation system? Honestly that would just make the game for me, even if it would just be fanon I would appreciate the crap out of it.
What you're describing is a game made for serious HP fans. That's what this game should have been. Instead it was created for average gamers.

Man, just imagine if Rockstar or From Software made Hogwarts with all the rp possibilities and the attention to detail and freedom they are known for.
Like, cmon, I can cast Avada Kedavra aiming at a student but it just phases through them while the teachers are like "hahaha just don't do that again"
Also, how is it possible that in a Hogwarts game, they used the magic voice mails instead of letting you choose and have an owl pet?
They literally implemented feeding and grooming spells for the animals you kidnap, and they have the owl models ingame already, it couldn't be that hard.
I always thought there should be a system like that and even mini games around classes like in Bully. For example in potion class you would have to do some actions and if you fail you can break your cauldron or phial and have to buy new ones. This way you don't get too rich too quickly 😂
Afterall school supplies is a big part of the charm of the first book !
(Btw i also always thought there should be at least some lines exchanged with Sebastian or Ominis in some classes because some crazy stuff happens, he sits almost next to you in class and your characters just ignore each others it's crazy)

Looks great, would be great to give the world around hogwarts a bit more of a magical touch aswell. feels quiet empty the farther you go from hogwarts. But maybe one day thats filled aswell :)

Any plans for future hogwarts legacy mods? No ones made a proper spell expansion mod yet. So many interesting and cool ones, but im sure each and every one would be incredibly complex and require a lot of animation, particle work, etc
I'm just the writer and some of the creative fuel behind this mod. It'll be up to Nathdev and other modders to determine what comes next. But I'll keep pushing for better and bigger mods so we can bring this game closer to what we all originally dreamed of. I certainly would love to see an expanded and more varied spell library.
I also see where having classes could have helped with relationships with other NPCs. Ok so say we mess up a spell or potion in class. Then we have n opportunity to make that up by studying with Amit to increase the effectiveness of the spell or potion.
Classes and the general school schedule (Meals, sports games, etc.) should have been the foundation for the entire game. And yes you're right, that includes character development and relationships.

I want all the students to wear different robes whenever ig go into the school i really feel weird that my own character is wearing different outfits while other are all wearing the same uniform

I feel like HL was a proof of concept type of game. HL2 might be the full definitive experience we've been waiting for.
Hopefully HL2 will be the full game we've been hoping for. But I don't feel like HL1 proved the concepts that HL2 needs to have beyond proving an HP game can be extremely successful financially.
Id be heavily interested in a bulders gate 3 style Harry Potter game. Where dice rolls control your actions and storyline.

Yep, it's bizarre. When the game was announced I had no doubt classes would be a fundamental aspect of the game.
Well there is single class of each subject and teachers give you sidequest assignments to unlock new spells but after that no studying in this game about magical school. Creator really should've focused more on the Hogwarts aspect, not the open world
Hogwarts Legacy is a great modding sandbox because everyone wants more from the game.
I hope one day someone makes a mod that revamps potion crafting into something similar to kingdom come deliverance, though I doubt the engine could support any first person mini game :(

HL devs: Let's put our talented and resourceful men into working on 612 Merlin's Trials, 2,954 Small Caves with mediocre items, and 984,365 scheduled suburban NPCs around the map instead of making Hogwarts a proper school.
Unfortunately the team behind this game has 0 game design skills. They created a masterpiece of a world but with 4 different enemies, 3 or 4 puzzles repeating over and over, boring caracters and teachers, no quidditch because of the upcomong quidditch game and uninteresting slide quests. Im pretty sure there are more issues im missremembering
A lot of talented people worked on this game. But at the end of the day you can't deny that the people ultimately making the final design choices made some very bad decisions.

I think the team probably had the same ideas as us. It seems like curfew and also students following you during missions was supposed to be features in the game.
My theory is that the open world ruined everything. When we think about it such a big open world wasn't necessary. The team probably had this imperative and spent a lot of time on it just for the sake of telling "hey we have an open world !"
Then they had to fill this empty world with stupid quests like Merlin quests and the boring side quests that random witch gives you.
At the end they had to rush the gameplay of Hogwarts.
Good damn work, guys! One other thing except classes, is how the f, there are not many easter eggs in the castle apart from some, when in the books, the castle itself is one big secret. Like there should be a ton of them to explore, and not the same 3-4 damn animations of the knight statues hitting each other. Come on, Portkey, didn't you read the books?!
While if you look closely there are lots of great nods like the prefects bathroom matching the book description, etc. there's so much more they could have and should have done. Also why the castle isn't riddled with secret passages is beyond me.

The best RPGs have sim elements. Think Skyrim.
There are a few things that shouldve been different, like instead of upgrading a spell in the talent tree younwould have to attend defense against the dark arts class to lvl up your spells, instead of using the room of requirments for potion making you should have to attendbpotion classes to make potions, both regular ones and ones with upgraded effects. Going to a history class would actually unlock a new place for you to visit in the world like a ruined castle or something like that, we need to get something out of going to classes if not theres no point and i rather it stays as is.
Certainly good ideas. I like having classes in some form even if they're not deeply tied into progression. Immersion is what I want from this game, but I think most people (Especially non Harry Potter fans) would agree that there needs to be a a gameplay based reason for classes.

Is this the first mod that adds more quests? To me that's what the game was desperately missing - a ton more side quests like all the random dungeons and npc encounters in Skyrim.

@@Lam0rak There definitely need to be more mods that add content you can actually go and do. All the cosmetic additions, npc schedule stuff, and difficulty tweaking is nice, but so far from everything else I've seen on nexus, nothing really adds actual gameplay/content.
It'd be really sick if mods eventually could add their own custom dungeon maps with sidequests, somewhat similar to the Rescuing Rococo one, just a small dungeon - or even just reuse existing dungeon areas giving you a way to revisit them and go back through the dungeons to pick up something for some npc.

I’m a big fan of the Wizarding World from Sweden and I would love to share my ideas for the upcoming sequal!
I think many of you would like to see more of the action that’s going on in Hogwarts Legacy; and yes, the Wizarding World is about duelling, beasts and dark wizards too. But I on the other hand would love to feel like a normal Hufflepuff-student for once. This includes studies, classes, sneaking up at night with my friends, OWL’s etc, immersion, Diagon Alley etc. I don’t feel the need of being the savior of the Wizarding World.
I would also wish for:
- More spells: Not only usefull ones. They could include jinxes etc.
- Deeper immersion: Being able to sit by the fire. Reading books we already know stuff about (The History of Hogwarts etc).
- More beasts.
- A map consisting of Hogwarts, the grounds, the lake (underwater?), the forbidden forest and Hogsmeade, Diagon Alley and the Ministry.
- Consequences of your actions.
- More magical plants and more herbology.
- More subjects.
-Quidditch.
- Wizards Chess.
- Animagus.
The list can be made long but yeah, that’s some of my so many ideas.
So yes, I would love a simulation-like.

I agree that a sim would be best. Skyrim is a sim in a lot of ways and it's widely regarded as one of the best RPGs ever made. I strongly believe that's the route RPGs are going in over the next decade.

I just wanted an online harry potter game why couldn't we pick the school we want to go to in a huge mmo experience? Anyone who misses X amount of classes gets booted from school and theyre forced to either learn party trick magic at home get a job or become a villian and stealing students spellbooks and foing what villains do. I see potential, but maybe im ahead of my time
You are ahead of your time. New advancements in game development tech must happen before the type of game you're describing is possible.

One thing annoyed me is I think at night they should’ve been prefects and teachers on guard and if you get caught out of bed at night, you lose house points and may have to do an detention like in bully aka candis Candem edit and doing well in classes should’ve awarded you house points and I think there should’ve been actual classes you have to take and be on time and they should’ve been an option that let you actually sleep in your dormitory I think they should’ve been dementors as an enemy and you should’ve been able to learn Expecto Patronum and choose your Patronus And have the option to be able to become an Animagus

AI would have allowed us to create 100+ mediocre classes not worth anyones time in minutes. Actually writing them over the course of weeks means we have less but each one is something special. Something with a soul. I think because of this we'll see the death of generative ai for creative uses die off fairly quickly.

As a Ravenclaw I was deeply disappointed by any actual classes or class knowledge in the game. Eventually I just stopped playing. To fee classes, and when I focused on breeding to save the "rare" creatures but there was always tons of them everywhere, I just couldn't find the fun really.
I would have loved to see all of the mods that are around now. I'll have to give the game another try modded.
I think next game they will have it online like quidditch, every “battlepass” u will earn a couple spells for in game use, so go to classes for a month learn a spell, I think it could be good… as much as I hate online only games 😂😓
Interesting idea. But I don't think that would be the best approach. I would opt for a more immersive method where you learn spells through just doing classes (No matter when you do them) and finding spell books throughout the world. I would have upwards of 50 spells personally.

I just started a save and am already 20 hours in. If I install the mod now can I continue this save or will I need to start a new one? I am new to mods so an explanation would be of great help.
Edit: Went to the Nexus mod page a realized the class system starts after beasts class. Luckily I literally just finished Rackham's Trail so I right on par!
Yep, you can download it at any point in any save. As long as you're past beasts class you'll start getting the class quests. If you're not past beasts class they'll start as soon as you do complete that quest.

It's a pain in the ass but possible. Avalanche should have included full mod support. Instead they worked overtime to ensure modding was as hard as possible. Absolutely shameful.

Back when they were doing developer play tests and interviews they were explaining the open world mechanics of the game. Saying that you are free to explore but you do have classes at specific times and will be reprimanded if you don’t go to them.

There are only about 7 class cutscenes, half of which don't even have dialogue or any sort of interaction. All of them are in the first few hours of the game. They do little to make you feel truly immersed in the role of a Hogwarts student. Also most of them are required quests you can't skip, and there's no punishment for ignoring the few which are optional like History of Magic.

Oh yes.. this is the type of thing to make me re-download it.. I made space for the Original games, and Quidditch WC, quidditch champions, etc.. now we just need quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy 😅

Great idea for a mod. Lets slow down gameplay to a crawl with text.
...Thanks. I know you're being sarcastic but you're right, slowing down the game increases immersion and gives the player a chance to rest in between action.
they should pay you guys for the mod and just implement the damn thing in the game already. I can't believe we've been having the same criticism for a year now and no noteworthy dlc/ patch/ update/ whatever has been added

This has always been a common thing amongst other Harry Potter fans. They always seem to want Hogwarts to be real just so they can attend it and take classes and I never understood it
I think for many of us Hogwarts and the Harry Potter books was a safe place for us growing up. An escape. I think it's only natural we want to experience going there ourselves even if it's only in a video game. I started playing Legacy on console this week (Series S) just because I wanted to kick back and relax on my couch with a game in the living room. I was really missing my mods but I could do without for one playthrough. That was until I found a freaking door that required loading the other part of the castle. Now I’m looking at connecting my PC to the living room TV and hey why not get all the cool mods again from before and see what’s new? I’m dreading reinstalling them all but I know it’ll be worth it!
I want a gaming pc for this game. And skyrim with certain mods.

For non Harry Potter fans it probably would be boring if done poorly or just alright like we were limited to with this mod. But if it was done really well it'd be fun for any player.
