Man Tom it’s hard to even put into words the relief your channel has given my golf game. I found our videos a few months ago. The season just started, and I’m hitting the ball better than I ever have. MASHING ball after ball, hitting like a pro! People at the range are in awe excited to get out and shoot my lowest score! I know it’s coming! Thank you man!!!!!
That is *AWESOME,* Angus!! 💪💪 I'm very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play. Thanks so much for sharing your improvement and enthusiasm for the new season, and keep on MASHING!! Tom PS: If you've not already done so, have you considered enrolling in the online school and taking your learning - and your game - to the next level? At just $14.99/month or $149.99 per year the value in terms of what you get for that price point is beyond comprehension, and based on proven results it represents by far the best golf instruction deal on the planet.
I'm 65 years old and retired. I have never had a good trip to the driving range. I've never had a good round of golf. But after watching Tom's first video, I started hitting the ball straighter. I've been hitting it better just hitting it around my house a little bit with a short iron. But then I started trying to get fancy. So I went back to Tom's first video I ever saw and took two swing Thoughts with me to the driving range. Straight arm head out over the ball. I smoked so many shots it was incredible! Tom, thank you.
That is OUTSTANDING, Rick!! 💪💪 I sincerely appreciate your kind words, and I'm very glad to know that my instruction content and teaching style are resonating with you!! Thanks so much for sharing your dramatic ball striking improvement and keep up the great work!! Tom PS: By the way, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built. Have you looked into the comprehensive, sequential learning platform of the online school yet? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish. I hope you'll give the school some thought.

I’m a disciple of the “Saguto swing” and it works very well mostly. But I was somewhat ambivalent about a focus on keeping the angle… maybe when I get tired? Focusing on this angle detail allows me to make great contact every time. Thank you!
Even on those days when the swing is feeling a bit "off", Kevin, if we can retain that angle - aka "The Flying Wedge" - it will keep the crispiness in our contact and provide shots that will still enable us to score well. Thanks for your message and keep up the great work!! Tom

People couldn’t believe that I’d never taken lessons with how I was shooting when I started with saguto golf. Months later I’ve taken lessons finally and I had a very good foundation to learn. I was playing golf and not fetch. I needed lessons to really tighten everything up, but I had many fun rounds just off saguto TH-cam videos.

I recently ordered the Precision Impact Trainer and after practicing with it only 1x my ball striking has gone to another level. I'm making crispy divot after divot and compressing the ball consistently. Gone are the casting and flipping that have plagued my game forever. Thanks for the recommendation!
That looks like the old "pause and throw" trainer? I notice that when you get past the impact point (at your 4:00), and after your body turns, your right hand goes into extension- yes? This technique looks like a great idea for teaching what happens before the release so that you release naturally? Sorry to get granular😂
It worked! I maintained the right wrist angle throughout the entire swing. Additionally, from previous videos, I limited my weight shift and hip turn concentrating on moving weight to the inside of my right foot on the downswing. I lost my fear of earth and started taking divots. Ball flight was a consistent draw. And on the way home, Sirius played Going Mobile. What a day!
That's AWESOME, Robert!! And with some Who to cap it off. Can it possibly get any better?! 😎 I'm very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play. Hello Tom, I've been watching your videos from Montreal, Canada. Myrtle Beach really reminds me of beautiful childhood vacations. Your suggested golf swing is so much less complicated than what most of my lessons have taught me, and it's more effective too. Thank you 👍🏌️♂️
I sincerely appreciate your kind words, Marc-Andre, and I'm very glad to know that my lesson content and teaching style are resonating with you and providing clarity and simplicity in the muddied, overly complicated, oft-conflicting realm of golf instruction! This video changed my game. Practiced this for a couple weeks and Shot +5 today, my best round ever. I hit lots of GIR and would have been even or better if only I could putt.

So here we are today after receiving the Precision Impact Trainer (thanks to your awesome discount Tom). I follow the directions and started with the wedges, which I was already quite good at it, however, I now noticed a much better ball strike and flight. The device does forces you to be in the right angle and plane. Swinging is just as natural but with the locked wrist it promotes a great feel while hitting the ball. Thanks once and twice more for the great lessons and videos tips. You da man!
Awesome stuff, Bruno!! Thanks for sharing your initial experience with the Precision Impact - I appreciate your validation of this fantastic training aid. Keep up the great work and keep it crispy out there!! Tom
Had a lesson on this a few weeks ago, been playing amazing sense and killing any scores previously. A seasonal golf pro I haven't seen in a while was very surprised yesterday when playing inside but very happy to see the improvement I have made. (My coach works with a few pros at a club and they also own an indoor store with simulators)
Awesome job, Craig - kudos to your coach! Thanks for your message and for validating this lesson with your dramatic improvement. Keep up the great work!! 💪💪 Tom
@@SagutoGolf no doubt that your lessons here are the same style I get and they work. Both hit on very similar points and exercises and practices. He is a PGA teacher, you both have similar swings and analysis so it helps to have these videos from you and take lessons in person.
Probably the best 'look and feel' videos I have ever seen. When I saw the Johnny Miller photo, along with your lesson...bingo. Thank you Tom. That impact position is not easy for me to both see and feel. My wiffel balls are criply reaching my ivy wall in my backyard (they typically fall short). When my weather gets better here this month, I want to see this on the course. I already feel like I got a key to consistent play.
I appreciate that, Eric! I'm very glad to know that this lesson resonated with you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and taking it too those whiffle balls. I look forward to hearing from you when you're finally able to apply it to the real thing - hopefully very soon. Thanks so much for sharing your improvement and keep up the great work!! This has been huge for me. I have tucked the rear elbow in, kept weight forward and struggled a bit with my downswing. Turns out I was losing the rear wrist angle and was having in out-to-in swing which caused a lot of issues. This was huge. Thanks, Tom!!
Outstanding!! I’m very glad to know that this lesson clicked with you and resolved that issue, Chris; excellent job incorporating it into your swing. Love watching this session repeatedly because it focuses on the most important part of the golf swing-IMPACT. Have and use the PIT and it's a GREAT aid. Be well coach-Russ
I bought the pure swing device. I can’t wait until I receive it. Thanks so much for the discount. I love your videos I think for the best out there. Thanks for making them and sharing with us. I did the drill like skipping a rock and was hitting pretty pure however I think the device will make me hit a lot crisper every time. I’ll be hitting the crispy chicken every time.

Yes, the right hand should arc back to an angle of 45 degrees. And, by a remarkable coincidence, when we waggle the club back as far as we can, at address, with just our left hand on the club, the club shaft will be at an angle of 45 degrees. And, if we then swing back; and, put our right hand on the club, as we swing back, the hand will mould itself into position. Obviously, a player presses with the right palm to prevent the clubhead from flipping over at impact. But, the weight of the clubhead can actually help to prevent the club from flipping over and set the right hand into position at address. If we grip the club lightly at address; and, then raise our position, the weight of the clubhead will press the handle of the club up against the heel pad of the hand. This will arch the wrist slightly and it will, also, press the hand forwards. In effect it waggles the club back. With a medium iron, or short iron a player can return the club to the ball, at address, by pressing forwards with the hands, to ensure a crispy contact.
Will give this a go. I've been trying to keep hands forward for a while now but not taking much notice of that angle in the trail wrist. (I guess this feel is helpful because I've found that just leaning the shaft can easily open the club face?) I've had a couple of aha moments using your methods so thanks. FYI the biggest aha 3 tips I've used that helped most were: 1) tucking in the trail elbow, 2) making sure of a good shoulder turn to get a fuller swing (which slowed my arms from the top) and 3) getting used to a "sling" feel with the downswing. The last one makes or breaks each swing, sometimes it's sweet and sometimes I revert to lashing down at the ball... Thanks again...

The one possibly strange thing I've adopted in recent weeks is really widening my stance. I'm always sure to keep my right arm tucked with the wrist angle (as shown in this video), but if I'm a bit lower to the ground via my widened stance I feel a "connectivity" with the ball and I strike with much more consistency. I know I'm probably losing a little distance and it might look a little odd, but I've never hit the ball more consistently than I'm doing right now.
Well, Derek, consider that our "stock" stance width with the driver has the insides of the heels shoulder-width apart, with the stance getting incrementally narrower as the clubs get shorter. There is certainly leeway for personal preference on either side of that provided we don't get so wide that it locks up our lower body or so narrow that we have trouble staying centered or balanced. In other words, continue doing what you are doing if that is delivering consistently desirable results without placing any stress on your body! Tom
Hi Tom I just wanted to say thank you for all the tips. By keeping my elbows in I hit the ball much better crisp irons that are straight. You the man. Next time in HH I’ll attend one of your shows 🤘
The same should work with the lead hand. If its bowed at impact, the trail hand should be hinged automatically. I think for the most amateur golfers, knowing the correct wrist position at impact is pure gold. Connect it with a correct body turn and you are ready to hit crispy shots, crispier than KFC. Thanks for the good content Tom.
I sincerely appreciate your kind words regarding my instruction content and teaching style, and I'm very glad to know they are resonating with you!! Yes - a flat or slightly bowed lead wrist condition is most supportive of creating and maintaining that trail wrist angle, but ideally we should train that to happen on autopilot as any type of forced manipulation introduces a variable to the swing. Also, be aware that if you have a strong grip then the lead wrist is going to have a pronounced cupping at address, so taking that to a bowed position is going to shut the face and thereby require compensatory actions at impact in order to not pull the ball into the next zip code. Thanks for your message and support! Tom

Yeah imo the best thing that have helped me are keeping this angle with the wrists and keeping my weight mostly forward during the swing. It makes my swing go from barely being able to hit irons off the ground to hitting them pretty consistently well off the ground.

If I bought every swing trainer I could play golf. lol. Love the technique and coaching. My struggle today was right shoulder tilt through the ball. Any videos on this?

Tom you can say "so good" as in your video. Or you can copyright your own expression, 'Sa-gu-to' when you hit it so well. Food for thought! Really liked the tip. Will try it for my first round of the year this Thursday.
LOL! Well, Greg - in Sicilian "Saguto" translates to "I'm sure", and I am sure that the contact is So Good!! 😎 Welcome to a new season! Have fun out there on Thursday! Tom
Yes. It absolutely works with the woods and driver. In fact, it is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. I agree. A flat or slightly bowed lead wrist condition is most supportive of creating and maintaining that trail wrist angle, but ideally we should train that to happen on autopilot as any type of forced manipulation introduces a variable to the swing. Also, be aware that if you have a strong grip then the lead wrist is going to have a pronounced cupping at address, so taking that to a bowed position is going to shut the face and thereby require compensatory actions at impact in order to not pull the ball into the next zip code. Tom
That's fantastic, Rob - I'm very glad to know that this lesson translated well to your chipping stroke, and I'm thrilled for your greenside improvement! Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work! Tom
As Tom says in another comment here: "With regard to the grossly erroneous notion that we need to affect some type of active hand-rolling 'release,' given the inability of most folks to spend sufficient time at the range to lock in the required exactness of such an action this misguided thought has led countless golfers astray. It's not something that even the vast majority of pros are trying to consciously manufacture during the split second that the clubhead is traveling a distance of approximately 6' from parallel to parallel at speeds in excess of 100 mph. The forearms will naturally "trade places" from pre- to post-impact, but this should not be construed as a contrived move (although many a casual observer has gone down that rabbit hole). There really ought not be any active manipulation of the hands through the zone and attempts to precisely time any such rolling or flipping - which does nothing for swing speed - have relegated many an amateur to the vast abyss of inconsistency and frustration."
I imagine this is a lot like the ProSendr which i bought some time ago. Keeps that right wrist bent. My question is are you supposed to keep the wrist bent AFTER the strike or release it?
There is no need for nor any benefit to actively trying to "release" the wrists through or after impact. For some reason I can make pretty good contact with the ball using only my right arm - I guess it's because I'm forced to keep the angle and rotate the body more? When I add the left arm it tends to go to sh*t! Maybe tips in this video will help - will give it a try!
I'm very glad to know that this lesson resonated with you, and I hope it performs well when you put it into practice! I've had the precision impact for quite awhile. It works great! Mike, the inventor, is a fantastic person, too. He will personally answer any questions you might have. The only thing you have to remember is you have to rotate your lower body out of the way in the downswing, or you'll hit some vicious sh*nks!
I appreciate your validating remarks regarding the Precision Impact, Greg, and yes - Mike is excellent to work with! By the way, I do have a number of videos on the lower body action. When properly deployed in sequence our hips play a role in preserving our downswing path and they can certainly provide a power boost. When prematurely rotated, all bets are off. For example, the lateral targetward action of the hips acts as a governor on the rotational component, thereby enabling the player to keep their upper torso square and their swing center intact without having to fight their body. It's also a move that you will notice with every great ball striker. (Cue up a face-on video of any Tour player, put your finger, mouse pointer, or some other reference tool on their lead hip at address, and then observe the extent to which the hips move laterally past your pointer in the downswing while the head - and thus the swing center - remains in place.) This will occur naturally if we allow it to, but unfortunately the misguided "fire the hips" notion has plagued so many amateurs with an early-onset spinout that makes them steep and across the line, or they get stuck, early extend, flip, etc. For them, the "feel" of the shoulders leading will help them to overcome this, correctly engage their hips, and fix their path, thereby leading them to a solid, "crispy" impact condition. So, in other words, there is a correct action with the lower body, but given individual tendencies we really can't make a blanket statement in terms of what every golfer must do in order to accomplish it. Thanks again for your message! Tom

Tom would you say concentrating on bowing your left wrist (leading wrist) on your downswing is equivalent to the swing thought in this vid - keeping the right wrist hinged? Two sides of the same coin as it were?
To some extent, yes. @@SagutoGolfThanks Tom. What I think you’re saying is the correct right wrist position is the same regardless of a golfer’s grip whereas the left wrist position is more variable. Makes sense. I’m going to give this a go. Thanks. Btw I remember that 1998 Golf Digest issue with Johnny Miller on the cover lol. I used to keep a golf folder of torn out articles that I thought were note worthy and go through them a few times a year. Don’t remember if this one made the folder. Miller had some amazing tour wins. His come from behind ‘73 US Open win was legendary.

Been SMASHING the driver with that feeling. Trying to keep my left arm staring as a board, and arms superglue to my body. With a driver I might get a lil separation with my right arm, but because my left is so straight and I start with a hovering, I am making great contact

I am buying in and have managed a couple rounds up here in northern Illinois. I haven't scored great due to a bad one here or there, but my contact is better overall, so it is coming. Side note, I prefer Popeye's breading to Chick-fil-A, especially on tenders.

It is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: th-cam.com/video/o0xscMyN3v8/w-d-xo.html Beyond that, if you search the word "drive" on this channel you'll see some related content. Oftentimes when golfers are hitting everything well except for the driver it can be attributed to one of the following: 1) Their hips are not continuing their lateral slide through impact. This is common with the driver as the wider stance means that the hips have a greater distance to travel. If the hips stop moving laterally towards the target on the downswing then their rotation takes over, inhibiting any further necessary forward weight loading (we should be 80/20 forward halfway down, 90/10 at impact, and 95/5 in the finish), changing the low point and rerouting the club into a steeper angle of attack (AoA). This can produce a variety of undesirable results including fat and thin contact, topped shots and popups, straight pulls, and “banana” slices. Of great importance is keeping your upper torso/head in place (in other words, not moving towards the target from a face-on view) while the hips execute the lateral slide action. This preserves the swing center and the desired shallow AoA. 2) They are not allowing the length of the club to dictate the backswing path and are getting too steep as a result. The shaft of the driver is considerably longer than the other clubs and thus requires more of an around the body backswing as established by the shaft plane at address. It may "feel" flat as they take it back along the shaft plane for the first few feet, but as long as they maintain the "weight forward, shoulder down, and hands in" components while allowing the club to work around them, it should put them in the proper position at the top so they can attack the ball from the inside. (A good feel for that lead shoulder is "down and in, under the chin".) 3) Many believe - and some even teach - that we must try to "hit up on the ball" with the driver. However, consider that in our stock setup with the driver the hands are even with the inside of the lead thigh (as they are with all clubs when playing a standard shot) and our ball position is even with the inside of the heel of the lead foot. This presets a very slight degree of forward shaft lean with the driver. Beyond that, the ball is behind the zero-point of the swing (which is even with the lead shoulder), meaning that without any contrived manipulations the club will still be on its descent - albeit very close to flat - at impact. So, perhaps with the exception of folks with slower swing speeds - or those Long Drive participants teeing it extra high and hitting maybe 1-2 balls out of 10 onto a 60-yard wide "fairway" - in general the path is still ever so slightly down. In fact, the PGA Tour average with the driver is actually minus (e.g.: downward) 1.5 degrees - nearly level - and it should feel level - but slightly down nonetheless. (Here is an article on Ping’s website addressing this topic - ping.com/en-us/blogs/proving-grounds/optimal-launch-and-spin#:~:text=According%20to%20Trackman%2C%20PGA%20Tour,85%25%20ball%2Dflight%20laws ) Here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” where you can learn some aspects of the system I teach in a more structured manner: go.saguto.golf/ This will provide a nice foundational understanding of the swing keys that will ultimately get you mashing the ball through your entire bag. @@SagutoGolf thank you for the greatly detailed response Tom! You’re the best in the business and the only TH-cam channel I recommend to my friends getting into golf. Even sent my 65 year old father your channel and he’s hitting the ball better than he ever has. Thanks again!
It feels very awkward trying to maintain wrist angle past impact. It feels natural to straighten wrist in follow through after or right at impact. Could you clarify this for me. I like your videos ..
Weird is good when we're trying to incorporate the necessary changes in the spirit of improvement, Phil. But as the crispiness builds in the weirdness tends to dissipate. Specific to this lesson, if properly executed the retention of that trail wrist angle will create crispy compression. If you must throw away the angle and flip or scoop through impact to keep the ball in play, then that is indicative of an issue somewhere upstream in the motion. With regard to this grossly erroneous notion that we need to affect some type of active hand-rolling “release", given the inability of most folks to spend sufficient time at the range to lock in the required exactness of such an action this misguided thought has led countless golfers astray. 4:09 not really fair to the golfer (is that Freddy Couples?), I suspect that if you filmed the video from 45 degrees angle to the left his right wrist would still look more cupped than flat. But your point is solid! The angle is key. Challenge for me is to avoid the handle drag, which I find has a lot to do with keeping relaxed arms, and clubhead speed will just do the rest. PS: Love it how you consistently get your left arm parallel to your shoulders at P4, such a beautiful arc.
It is indeed Fred. His very strong grip cups his lead wrist, and that results in a relatively flat trail wrist condition at the top. Of course he rectifies that on the way down and gets everything - including that trail wrist angle - into perfect position heading into impact. Anyway, I'm very glad to know that this lesson resonated with you, and I sincerely appreciate your kind words regarding my swing! I get the idea of keeping the angle, but what happens to me is that there is no feeling of release of the club? Isn't releasing it where the speed comes from?
With regard to this notion that we need to affect some type of active hand-rolling “release", given the inability of most folks to spend sufficient time at the range to lock in the required exactness of such an action this misguided thought has led countless golfers astray. There really ought not be any active manipulation of the hands through the zone and attempts to precisely time any such rolling or flipping - which does nothing for swing speed - have relegated many an amateur to the vast abyss of inconsistency and frustration. While there are certainly videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Tom

@SagutoGolf well your the first person who took the time and effort to explain it right. I watched a video with Danny Maude and Pete Cowin which pretty much explained exactly what you did. Your explanation was actually a little clearer. This concept is huge in the final opportunity to improve with something that will stick. Thanks for the reply.
I tried a product years ago with a molded plastic form that held the angle, Greg Norman's Secret. Same principle, but not nearly as high-tech as your Precision Impact Trainer. $150 is a big nut for that gadget, though. For that price, it had better work.
I can attest to the fact that it does work, not just for me but also based on unsolicited feedback I am receiving such as these recent messages: _"I recently ordered the Precision Impact Trainer and after practicing with it only 1x my ball striking has gone to another level. I'm making crispy divot after divot and compressing the ball consistently. Gone are the casting and flipping that have plagued my game forever. Thanks for the recommendation!"_ _"I use the Precision Impact and it's been a game-changer."_ I've gotten them to soften the price a bit for my members and subs. You can get your Precision Impact Trainer here - pureswingproducts.com/SagutoGolf - and use code CRISPYKFC for $20 OFF and Free Shipping Tom
Probably not because of the temporary special deep discount of $40 off presently being offered using code SAGUTOGOLF at checkout. (I believe it was a $20 discount on Precision Impact when this video was released a few months ago.) Thanks, Tom
You don't have to do that, James. Ball flight rules - aka shot shaping - are a function of clubface as it relates to path and target line. Clubface angle relative to target line is the primary influencer of the ball's starting line and face relative to path determines direction and degree of curvature. As such, in the system I teach we can carve it either way with a few minor setup adjustments and the same swing. No unreliable handsy manipulations are required. Recently had surgery on my right wrist and can no longer bend my wrist back which changes my swing, not every one is as young and flexable as you Tom, oh well getting older has it's pros and cons !!!!
Had Compound fracture of left wrist hit by ball as I was pitching ,had my wrist reconstructed after not being able to turn or bend it ,took 2 years to recover and I play Golf about 3 Days an Week ,Now with mostly no pain .
We learn to work within our limitations. The fact that you are physically unable to put your wrist in the demonstrated position doesn't mean that you can't retain its straight condition and thereby not flip or scoop through the zone. By the way, you may be interested to know that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built. LOL! Yes - sadly, too much "instruction" over the years has conditioned folks to take their strong hand out of the swing. Deploy it - properly - and you will not regret it! Tom
The lateral targetward action of the hips acts as a governor to prevent a premature over-rotation and thereby enables the player to keep their upper torso square and their swing center intact without having to fight their body. It's also a very powerful move that you will notice with every great ball striker. (Cue up a face-on video of any Tour player, put your finger, mouse pointer, or some other reference tool on their lead hip at address, and then observe the extent to which the hips move laterally past your pointer in the downswing while the head - and thus the swing center - remains in place.) Most amateur golfers already have plenty of the rotational component; they need to build in the lateral hip slide to suppress the early-onset spinout that causes so many to get steep and across the line, or they get stuck, early extend, flip, etc. Here are some lesson videos specific to this topic: - th-cam.com/video/Us6jSgMvJmM/w-d-xo.html - th-cam.com/video/dB4ItR3guGU/w-d-xo.html - th-cam.com/video/I5XYgKopTb4/w-d-xo.html I hope that helps! They are certainly not intended to be taken as a comprehensive, step-by-step, position-by-position learning platform like the structured curriculum of my online school, which I strongly recommend to anyone who truly wishes to get on the proper path towards owning this swing as it will make for a far more efficient and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through my TH-cam content. Unfortunately, such sorcery from this dark underworld of golf instruction rarely finds its way to the mainstream because if too many folks found out about it the mainstream would then be rendered irrelevant....... 😎 If properly executed as demonstrated, Roman, this will produce crispy compression shot after shot. My RIGHT wrist can’t do it 😩 I can focus on flattening (or bowing) my LEFT wrist, but I must have something wrong with my right. I’ve heard the tip, “like holding a tray at the top of the swing”, my wrist can’t bend that way. But I can bend the LEFT wrist and get the same effect, right? 🤔 Sorry, … I’m old Some body parts don’t work like they used to 😏
A flat or slightly bowed lead wrist condition is most supportive of creating and maintaining that trail wrist angle, Mike, but ideally we should train that to happen on autopilot as any type of forced manipulation introduces a variable to the swing. Also, be aware that if you have a strong grip then the lead wrist is going to have a pronounced cupping at address, so taking that to a bowed position is going to shut the face and thereby require compensatory actions at impact in order to not pull the ball into the next zip code. TS

@@SagutoGolf This has continued to be a point of confusion for me. I know that rolling the hands is extremely inefficient and inconsistent, but if you look at most of the pros, there is clearly a considerable amount of extension/flection of the lead wrist/trail wrist post impact. I have to believe the this wrist action starts well before impact, even If it’s a completely unconscious movement. I’ve noticed a lot of coaches on TH-cam teach this straight arm, stiff wrist, rotational release where it seems they’re essentially ‘holding off’ the release of the club. I’m no expert at all, just a recreational golfer who likes to consume golf content and continues to strive for improvement, but it seems a lot of club head speed and subsequent yardage is being left on the table with this stiff wrist release.

Unfortunately, John, such sorcery from this dark underworld of golf instruction rarely finds its way to the mainstream because if too many folks found out about it the mainstream would then be rendered irrelevant....... 😎 Consider that despite all the advances in equipment, technology, golf course grooming, etc. the average golfer still struggles to break 100. Epic failures within the realm of “conventional” instruction, perhaps??? So many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings - such as taking the club straight back, turning the shoulders level while independently lifting the arms, shifting into and torquing against a firm trail side, firing the hips, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of inconsistency and chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well).

I sincerely appreciate your kind words and support, and I'm very glad to know that my instruction content and teaching style have resonated with you!

Thanks! Went out and played with a focus on this and had best round (84) of season. Hit it extra crispy
That's *AWESOME,* Marshall!! 💪💪

I recently ordered the Precision Impact Trainer and after practicing with it only 1x my ball striking has gone to another level. I'm making crispy divot after divot and compressing the ball consistently. Gone are the casting and flipping that have plagued my game forever. Thanks for the recommendation!
I use one, too, and it's been a game-changer.
Awesome! I sincerely appreciate the feedback on this fantastic training aid.
Thanks for sharing that and keep up the great work!! 💪💪
Tom
That looks like the old "pause and throw"
trainer?
I'm very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play. Thanks so much for sharing your improvement and keep up the fantastic work!! 💪💪

Thanks as always for the validation and added detail!
Will give this a go. I've been trying to keep hands forward for a while now but not taking much notice of that angle in the trail wrist. (I guess this feel is helpful because I've found that just leaning the shaft can easily open the club face?)
I've had a couple of aha moments using your methods so thanks.
I sincerely appreciate you sharing your "aha's", Lee, and I'm very glad to know that my instruction content and teaching style are resonating with you. I hope this lesson connects the remaining dots for you when you put it into practice!

Yeah imo the best thing that have helped me are keeping this angle with the wrists and keeping my weight mostly forward during the swing. It makes my swing go from barely being able to hit irons off the ground to hitting them pretty consistently well off the ground.

LOL! Well, Greg - in Sicilian "Saguto" translates to "I'm sure", and I am sure that the contact is So Good!! 😎
Welcome to a new season! Have fun out there on Thursday!

Do you recommend this for woods and driver, as well? Thanks!!
Yes. It absolutely works with the woods and driver. In fact, it is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: th-cam.com/video/o0xscMyN3v8/w-d-xo.html

Tom
...and I think this tip will improve all aspects of my game, even my putting!
It certainly is applicable to all aspects of the game, Robert!
Is this also achieved by bowing lead wrist?
bowing your lead wrist bends your trail wrist back and also helps to keep trail elbow tucked in
Same feels for me too
Tom
keeping the angle cured my chip yips, im hitting the ball on the clubface again, SO GOOD !!!!
That's fantastic, Rob - I'm very glad to know that this lesson translated well to your chipping stroke, and I'm thrilled for your greenside improvement!
Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work!

Hey Saguto, I noticed on your Driver video that your driver head cover is a Chanticleer. Are you a Coastal Carolina Grad (or just a fan) or both?
I am a CCU alum, Dennis! A graduate of the Wall School of Business and their PGA Golf Management Program. Great school, great time!
Chants Up! 👌

Great tip Tom, BUT, doesn't this "interfere"with the release?
@alflazer4493 - Precisely what @JeremiahAlphonsus shared in reply to your message!

It's an absolute classic, Paul!! 😆😆
Glad you enjoyed it!
Tom
I imagine this is a lot like the ProSendr which i bought some time ago. Keeps that right wrist bent.
My question is are you supposed to keep the wrist bent AFTER the strike or release it?
I bought the ProSendr. However, it doesn't lock the wrist in place. Thus I just now bought this Precision Impact Trainer.
There is no need for nor any benefit to actively trying to "release" the wrists through or after impact. Here are a couple of episodes related to this topic:

For some reason I can make pretty good contact with the ball using only my right arm - I guess it's because I'm forced to keep the angle and rotate the body more? When I add the left arm it tends to go to sh*t! Maybe tips in this video will help - will give it a try!

Tom would you say concentrating on bowing your left wrist (leading wrist) on your downswing is equivalent to the swing thought in this vid - keeping the right wrist hinged? Two sides of the same coin as it were?
To some extent, yes.

I have found that having the sensation of squeezing your elbows together helps to keep the angle
Been SMASHING the driver with that feeling. Trying to keep my left arm staring as a board, and arms superglue to my body. With a driver I might get a lil separation with my right arm, but because my left is so straight and I start with a hovering, I am making great contact

Tom can we get a video on the driver swing when you can please? Iron game has never been stronger but still struggling off the tee. Thanks!
Oftentimes when golfers are hitting everything well except for the driver it can be attributed to one of the following:
1) Their hips are not continuing their lateral slide through impact.
(A good feel for that lead shoulder is "down and in, under the chin".)
3) Many believe - and some even teach - that we must try to "hit up on the ball" with the driver. (Here is an article on Ping’s website addressing this topic - ping.com/en-us/blogs/proving-grounds/optimal-launch-and-spin#:~:text=According%20to%20Trackman%2C%20PGA%20Tour,85%25%20ball%2Dflight%20laws )

@@SagutoGolf thank you for the greatly detailed response Tom! You’re the best in the business and the only TH-cam channel I recommend to my friends getting into golf. Even sent my 65 year old father your channel and he’s hitting the ball better than he ever has. Thanks again!
How do you turn the hands over for the draw
It feels very awkward trying to maintain wrist angle past impact. It feels natural to straighten wrist in follow through after or right at impact. Could you clarify this for me. I like your videos ..
The right way feels awkward to you because you're accustomed to error.
It's not something that even the vast majority of pros are trying to consciously manufacture during the split second that the clubhead is traveling a distance of approximately 6' from parallel to parallel at speeds in excess of 100 mph. Tom

I appreciate your interest! I had phased out private lessons (both in-person and virtual) awhile back so I could dedicate more time to my online school. I've not yet set a specific date for when I will resume them, though it should be fairly soon. If you are in my online school please send me a message through the "chat" feature and I will add you to my list to be notified when slots open up.
If you are not in the school yet, then that would be a great starting point as the school is designed to get golfers on the fast track towards properly learning this swing system in a comprehensive, structured, sequential platform. That is where you will find very detailed lessons and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish, along with diagnostic and corrective tools for resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues, and much more. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. At just $14.99/month or $149.99 per year the value in terms of what you get for that price point is beyond comprehension, and based on proven results it represents by far the best golf instruction deal on the planet.
Thanks again!
Tom

I get the idea of keeping the angle, but what happens to me is that there is no feeling of release of the club? Isn't releasing it where the speed comes from?
With regard to this notion that we need to affect some type of active hand-rolling “release", given the inability of most folks to spend sufficient time at the range to lock in the required exactness of such an action this misguided thought has led countless golfers astray. There really ought not be any active manipulation of the hands through the zone and attempts to precisely time any such rolling or flipping - which does nothing for swing speed - have relegated many an amateur to the vast abyss of inconsistency and frustration.

I can attest to the fact that it does work, not just for me but also based on unsolicited feedback I am receiving such as these recent messages:
_"I recently ordered the Precision Impact Trainer and after practicing with it only 1x my ball striking has gone to another level. I'm making crispy divot after divot and compressing the ball consistently. Gone are the casting and flipping that have plagued my game forever. Thanks for the recommendation!"_
_"I use the Precision Impact and it's been a game-changer."_
I've gotten them to soften the price a bit for my members and subs. You can get your Precision Impact Trainer here - pureswingproducts.com/SagutoGolf - and use code CRISPYKFC for $20 OFF and Free Shipping

Any discount for two ???
Probably not because of the temporary special deep discount of $40 off presently being offered using code SAGUTOGOLF at checkout. (I believe it was a $20 discount on Precision Impact when this video was released a few months ago.)
Thanks,
Tom

How do you turn your hands over for the draw

Have you looked into the comprehensive, sequential learning platform of the online school yet? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish. You don't need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast - or even of this far less pliable golf instructor - to execute this swing, experience great ball striking, and reclaim - or even exceed - yardages from years past. I hope you'll give the school some thought.
Tom
@@SagutoGolf I was not being critical of your swing and I throughly enjoy your videos and have benefited from them I have had to make adjustments to accommodate the pieces of metal that has been put in me, I will say that you are the best person I have ever seen and watched in your videos you truly are a gifted man…..keep up the great job you are doing !!!!
Slowly bringing the right hand / wrist back into my swing after years of neglect 😅
LOL! Yes - sadly, too much "instruction" over the years has conditioned folks to take their strong hand out of the swing. Deploy it - properly - and you will not regret it!

So good so good Da da da da! Thanks. One swing to rule them all!
This is gold!
Thanks Craig - I appreciate that and I hope this lesson helps you to achieve consistent golden KFCrispy impact!!

Tom, you don't talk about the lateral hip move anymore. Can do a refresher on that or point us to one of your videos to watch?
Here are some lesson videos specific to this topic:

PS: It is important to understand that the videos, lessons, and drills on this free channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, feels, and/or common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next. In actuality, the body-friendly, powerful, consistent, low-maintenance system I teach is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology, and it is modeled on empirical observations of the game's greatest ball strikers. My RIGHT wrist can’t do it 😩
I can focus on flattening (or bowing) my LEFT wrist, but I must have something wrong with my right.
I’ve heard the tip, “like holding a tray at the top of the swing”, my wrist can’t bend that way. But I can bend the LEFT wrist and get the same effect, right? 🤔
Sorry, … I’m old
Some body parts don’t work like they used to 😏
A flat or slightly bowed lead wrist condition is most supportive of creating and maintaining that trail wrist angle, Mike, but ideally we should train that to happen on autopilot as any type of forced manipulation introduces a variable to the swing. Also, be aware that if you have a strong grip then the lead wrist is going to have a pronounced cupping at address, so taking that to a bowed position is going to shut the face and thereby require compensatory actions at impact in order to not pull the ball into the next zip code.

I need more crispy.

Consider that despite all the advances in equipment, technology, golf course grooming, etc. the average golfer still struggles to break 100. I’m doing my best here to clear these up one by one and put an end to this madness….
