If I remember correctly, everyone already concluded that the finals will be between DLSU (thrice-to-beat advantage) and NU (twice-to-beat advantage) kahit pa nakapasok sa Final4 and ADMU. And called Valdez the "MVP without Championship" since the Fab5 already graduated that season. NU also defeated ADMU before Final4 games. Tapos karamihan sa ADMU na player na natira ay di naman starters then may mga freshman pa so the expectation about them winning against NU (2nd in ranking) was really low even though they have Valdez, the Season MVP that time. Hindi naman kasi kaya ng isang player ang isang laro na pang-team kahit gaano pa ito kahusay.
But then again, it was called the ADMU's Championship CINDERELLA RUN for a reason. Lagi silang nasa do-or-die games pero sila parin ang nananalo sa huli. No one expected how dangerous was the combination between Team Besh (Valdez, Lazaro, Ahomiro, & De Jesus) and Mor-Mor (Morado & Morente) combo in the court. Ito din yong umpisa ng pagsikat ng Volleyball sa buong Pinas and Valdez being the most popular Volleyball player of all time dito sa 'tin
