I just finished The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes today and I share some of your feelings. The world building and seeing the early Hunger Games was so interesting. But I just didn't really care about Snow's story. I'm glad I read it, but I just wish I cared about the plot more.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is such a good read! I bought it two days ago and only have about 50 pages left. I think Susan Collins did an amazing job on it.
I did the exact same thing with The Murderbot Diaries, it's amazing and I love it. Waiting for my copy of Songbirds and snakes and need to pick up a few more of the Shatter me books to finish the set.

If you like hard sci-fi, I highly recommend the Dune saga! A new film is coming out in December, it’s adapting the first half of the first Dune book. I’m rereading the first book and it’s been a freaking great time. The Scott Brick audiobook is iconic 🙌
I just read the All Systems Red a couple months ago!! I need to get my hands on the other novellas, I loved the first one so much but it was too short for me and I NEED MORE!
That anime has been on my radar. Lately I've been watching Sailor Moon and Bloom Into You. Since the library now has curbside pickup I might do another order with manga but first I should probably wait for the twelve books I put on hold. I've been meaning to read Murderbot. The next book is a full length novel. I love that Tor gives away ebooks each month. Maybe this will be the year I read Mockinjay. I got spoiled so never read it. Now I just need to pick up The Hunger Games. I have shiny UK editions so they're begging to be read but I'm stubborn and don't like to be told what to read even when it's me. One of the perks of having a weird brain.

I finished tbosas last night and I pretty much agree with Kat on everything. Sleeping on it really helped, as this morning I found a way of self-judging if you’d like the book or not: Did you like the Joker (2019) movie? If yes, give the book a shot. If no, watch a spoiler review if you want to know the plot, and like Kat said, seeing the 10th Hunger Games and how it was treated the first years where super interesting!

i agree about the balled of songbirds soooo much! i enjoyed the hunger games from the capitols point of veiw and how snow is still the worst but it wouldn't of been even nearly good if not for the trilogy.

Ugghhh just finished the ballad of songbirds and snakes in one sitting agree with you 100%. I liked it a lot, but it just didn’t feel like the trilogy, which i flew through. SPOLER I also kinda knew Lucy gray was gonna die, cuz she doesn’t appear/is mentioned in the trilogy
I feel the same way about TBOSAS and it's why I haven't rated it yet. As soon as I finished, I wanted to write an analytical essay and it was so engaging, but it did not supersede THG.
The struggle is Real I've binged watched Yona of the Dawn, Snow White with the Red Hair and Maid-Sama I'm so said none of them were completed 😭😭😭 I plan to pick up all thr manga because I need more of the romance. That's been my constant struggle during quarantine where I fall in love WITH Shoujo Anime and it's only 24 episodes a piece. I'm also 30 volumes into Skip Beat which is also fantastic!

I don’t know for the other ones but at least Maid-Sama has a compelete manga. The anime is never going to do the full storyline after all it’s been 10 years, hate when that happens with anime and unfortunately it’s pretty common occurrence
Katytastic Definitely read the manga too! The anime only goes up to vol. 8 and ends right as the adventure is really going to start happening. Unfortunately it was never renewed for another season

I just wanna SUGGEST A BOOK series that is sooooo underrated and definitely deserves more recognition it’s called an unfortunate fairy tale series by Chanda Hahn please check it out I promise you it’s amazing you will fall in love once you get to the second book the first isn’t the best but it’s still good but the rest are incredible so please do me a favor and read them because I can’t be the only one that’s in love with this series
