    i work 9-5 pushing carts at costco and its pretty tiring and overwhelming with all of the work we have to do. was really good watching something i could literally relate to

      Sorry for the delayed response! It can be hard work, but it's great cardio. I don't know if there's many cart pushers who'd trade their position to be a stocker in the early morning, like I do now.

      Yeah I agree, I just started and it's killing me haha. Watching this made me feel better about my ability to keep up with the other guys and girls out there

      I can empathise. I worked at Costco for a full year before starting university and pushing those trolleys was incredibly debilitating. During my time working there we regularly had to push them up a steep ramp from the basement car park as the lift kept breaking down. It was also a male only job in the store which I find completely baffling in this supposed age of equality.
      It might be good exercise up to a point but forcing people to work 8 hour shifts out there no matter the weather when Costco is always extremely busy is simply exploitation. One of the men I worked with regularly had to take time off or leave in the middle of a shift because the work was so difficult.

      @@justinglide633 It depends where you work. I won’t bore you with the details but working outside was just insanity when I was at Costco and I promise I’m not exaggerating in the slightest.

    Just worked at a Costco as a seasonal but they couldn't keep me sadly. Honestly pushing carts is more relaxing than being a cashier assistant besides the people that don't know how to drive in these parking lots lol. I made friends over the weeks and the shopping cart crew was cool where I work.

      Sorry for the delayed response! I use to not enjoy being outside pushing carts, it usually is a seniority thing. Then being out there made me realize you have your own world, but at the same time do your job responsibly. Compared to being inside, it's never boring. Assisting for the cashiers doesn't "burn" time as much as pushing carts or even cashiering or doing self checkout. Now I'm in morning merch stocking pre business hours.

      I pushed carts for 7 years at fleet farm. Probobly the best part of the job was grinding through sweat and tears, then at the end of the day when the sun is setting and the costumers and starting to disappear, you get a sense of accomplishment seeing a clean, empty parking lot. Snow days were fun too when we dressed up in full snow pants and broke out the shovels. But at fleet farm we were responsible for way more than just carts. We were cleaning restrooms, breakroom, using floor scrubbers, cleaning and maintaining the automatic carwash, gas station supplies, changing gas price sign, bailing cardboard, using forklifts to carry around garbage bins and sweeper attachments so I could clean the parking lot, painting, etc

      @@vikingstorm32 Similar job with me. We do more then buggies; we landscape, power wash, propane, tires, gas. you name it, lot touches it.
      you also hit the nail on the head.. the best part of the job is fighting through the sweat and tears and exhaustion. taking the shower after work and watching all that crap come off you feels so good and clean. seeing the empty parking lot with the sun setting is special too. i love this job.

    Hey bro, you like me at work...I know everyone and BS all the time too! But because of COVID 19 the hotel eliminated my entire department. So, I go on an interview tomorrow as a Costco Cashier Assistant. About how heavy are the carts? I should be ok but I don’t want to look weak.

    • @justinglide633
      @justinglide633  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Costco policy limits you to push no more than 10 carts, no less than 8. They will provide you with a rope that has a clip on one end, and either a hook or handle on the other. The only way you'll feel the rack you're pushing is heavy is if you're dealing with an inclined parking lot like we do. Otherwise, easy. Good luck!

    • @justinglide633
      @justinglide633  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Congratulations! Are you seasonal or permanent? Department? Expect them to put you right to work immediately after "classroom" orientation, because they will either have you assist for the cashiers or outside pushing carts. Dress code is usually collared shirt without print such as brand logos or extra designs, and of course pants. No joggers allowed, they will have you change clothes. Most importantly, wear the proper shoes. Don't go to orientation in dress shoes, rather wear non slip or non lifestyle shoes. I've seen rookies wear Jordan's and it made me sad. Considering the spring, expect to sweat. Any other questions hit me up!

      @justinglide633  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi J K! Everybody has their own way depending on how comfortable they are. For me, it just depends on how much room I have after the turn and how early I have to turn. Control the pivot.

      Or you can ask a buddy of yours that’s working on carts to just “guide” you and it makes life so much easier so that way you just focus on pushing,and then he can push and you guide,honestly all depends on how hardworking your coworkers are

      honestly i blame all of my back problems from pushing carts at costco. there really is no "correct" way lmao. just keep your back straight and use your legs. You can also push from the side. instead of pushing from behind and turning.
