    Awesome! I see this as a Triple Win! Firstly, I'm thrilled that you're so happy doing what you do. Secondly, it's fantastic that customers get to be served by someone as amazing as you! and finally, I'm pleased that Costco also appreciates your services!

    Hi there. Glad your Costco journey is going good. Sadly I was on seasonal this past season. Got hired on Nov. Was let go last Monday due to last of being on seasonal. I started in the front end doing cashier assistant. Then got moved to Major Sales. Which loved. The supervisor there promised me to be put on permanent. Also had the staff train me jewelry and other things. As well going on the computer and looking at products and taking tests to get knowledgeable. Also was given a red vest and a radio. Always did well there and was very liked and not sure what happened. The supervisor I asked about my scheduled being completely erased from my ESS. I had the week of the 14th full. Then went back and only showed Monday the 8th. Also no schedule for the following weeks. I asked my supervisor he said he would look into it. He never did and on this Monday. I went in and was greeted by a manager who said spoke with my supervisor. He said there was miscommunication about the hiring. Said seasonal was ending that is why the schedule is missing. They also pulled my ESS from me yesterday. Got paid today via direct deposit. But can't see my pay stubs. Can't even reset my password. Said not valid. Not happy with Costco. They promised me a position. Worked really hard and pulled it right from under me. Then to just pull my ESS as well.

    Your content on this video was interesting to listen too. Your work experience is just incredible, at what you did and the support you got from your supervisors / managers; then applied to work in the different dept.'s at that Costco Warehouse. Keep up us up to date with the latest employment on benefits, hiring (w/new Q.& A.'s); plus your posted short videos too.

    Does Costco offer the optical classses? Or did you take the classes on your own?

    So interesting, thanks for sharing. Question, if you wanted to stay in a previous position could you do that? Like if you wanted to be a cashier forever or bakery or do you have to train in other departments?

    Hello fellow costco co-worker. I have been working at Costco for a year this November. I am actually working at a Costco in Japan! I am half Japanese and moved here 9 years ago. I work as a morning stocker. I have fallen in love with this job! So glad to see that we share that similar love for Costco.
    I aim to become a forklift driver then move up the ladder. Morning merch supervisor then into management.
    Any tips for when I do become a supervisor?

      Hello!
      So, I think tips will greatly depend on the vibe/culture of your warehouse. I've been to different warehouses all within an hour of each other an they're all so different. So Understanding how things work in your warehouse will definitely help you progress. See how your coworkers deal with difficult/weird/easy situations.
      When you're a supervisor, I think one of the most important things to know is that you're now one of the people that runs the warehouse. You are now dealing not just with members, but employees as well. As a supervisor (and future manager) just know that it comes with making difficult decisions, and SOMETIMES that means making co-workers, and even members unhappy. eg.1: you have to send an assistant or cashier to help push carts even if they don't want to, eg.2: you may need to tell a member that we cannot hold their couch for 2 to 3 days, eg. 3: you need to deny a non member using their parents card to shop, even if it's just bread and milk and they give you puppy eyes.
      Good luck on your journey!! Costco really is a great company to work for!

    So to get your optician license where do you go? Do you do it on your own? Does Costco pay for it? How expensive is it? How long does it take for you to get the license?

    • @CostcoDude
      @CostcoDude  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your questions @hmsmedia2005, So if you're in the optical department, you get 1 year to pass the ABO certification, and then 1 year after that to pass the NCLE certification. Costco provides study material, though you have to use your own time to study at home, unless you have a cool manager that lets you study at work, though technically that's not allowed. I would recommend studying outside of Costco material anyway cause the tests are really hard.
      Every state will have a different cost, but Costco will pay for each exam twice (in case you fail the first time) if you fail both times and want to keep trying, you do have to pay with your own money. I believe mine cost about $175. I studied for months. The exam takes about 2-3 hours, if i remember correctly. You know if you pass or not right when you take the exam, and it's instant certification. So when I passed my tests, i took the results to my manager and I got my pay bump starting that day. Also, the managers will help you sign up for the exams.
      I think I answered everything, but let me know if you have more questions! :)

    Just started at Costco this week as a frontend assistant any tips or n how to get better. Faster and more efficient?

    • @CostcoDude
      @CostcoDude  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Congratulations!
      In simple words, just be proactive.
      Costco is crazy this time of year and you'll likely get asked, or just pulled to work in other departments based on the needs of the warehouse.
      When you're with a cashier just make sure the cashier have whatever they need, like restock boxes under register often, wipe the belt when you have no members in line, if the cashier next to you loses their assistant temporarily, help them too.
      When packing a cart, big items first and soft items on top. When boxing, ask the member if they have a preference on what specific items they'd like in the box (everyone has different preferences and there's no one right answer but I believe by just asking it gives a good impression)
      Efficiency comes by paying attention to how each cashier works and working with them.

    Hi, i just got hired full time as a cashier at a new costco location that will open next month. Im nervous because I don’t have experience in cashier. After working for some time does it become easy? Also they gave me a choice between stocking and cashier and i chose cashier do you think it is the better option? And last question, how long before first day of work is orientation? My background check is complete but havent got a call for orientation yet. The location opens the end of next month

    • @CostcoDude
      @CostcoDude  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Cashiering becomes easy pretty fast. You'll start becoming familiar with where the barcodes are and it creates a nice flow when scanning items. Having an assistant makes a world of a difference too, which you usually will always have (or should have)
      The will be some unique problems that will come up once in a long while, but most are typically handled by supervisors or managers.
      Orientation seems to happen about 2 weeks before opening date. You'll have a day of a bunch of videos saying how awesome Costco is. Then you get a tour of the warehouse and get to hear from the manager and their expectations and goals. This is also a chance to ask questions.
      Then you'll have a few days of training, you'll get your cashier number, name tag, and show you how to clock in and out, etc.
      Good luck!

      @@CostcoDude thank you for all the info and sorry I forgot to ask. Ive been reading online about horror stories of rude members working front end. In your experience are the rude members just every once in a while or is it a daily thing?

    • @CostcoDude
      @CostcoDude  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CoffeeSA96 From my experience, it's once in a while. If you've never dealt with angry members/costumers, just know it's rarely personal and it's more of they're having a bad day and have a short fuse, so don't let them ruin your day.
      I feel that the more familiar you are with Costco policy and just the way things work at your warehouse, the easier it'll become to deal with difficult members.
      Something I did just remember as I type this, Holidays do make people cranky, so I would expect daily angry members as we get close to Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Eve. They will complain about EVERYTHING, lol. not enough pies, not enough chicken, too many people, where are the damn turkeys?! 🤣

    How do become certified in order to work in optical?

    • @CostcoDude
      @CostcoDude  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I went through Costco. Typically you first get Cross trained in the department and then you take the tests. That way Costco pays for them. If you go on your own you'll have to pay around $150 per test.
