    I've been in the automotive industry for 30 years and seen a few vehicles come off lifts due to weight change and improper lifting positions. Nothing really terrible happened thankfully but it certainly made me more careful for life!
    We tried to buy a top of the line lift when it was time for lifting diesels and had a pro install it. We built the shop around it with a super thick high pressure concrete floor for it to be overkill on floor strength.
    Don't be cheap!!!

      So it had mostly nothing to do with the lift itself like 90 percent of lift accidents it's soly due to the tech! Haha

    Thanks for alerting us to the certification aspect of buying a lift!!! This being my first lift that is going in, in a couple weeks, made me check immediately! Good news, the lift I plan to buy is ALI certified!!! Thanks!!!

    When I do any kind of heavy work that I feel like might shift the vehicle on the lift or upset the balance I secure the vehicle frame to the lift pads with chain. Might be hard to do with a unibody, but I'm a truck mechanic so I really don't do those. Smallest things I work on are full size pickups

    Thank you sir! Added on a new 3rd car garage to hold my large Ford Transit (High Cab Extended length 10,000 lbs fully loaded). The garage is 25’ wide 30’ deep and 17’ tall where the lift will go.
    I poured a 6” slab using 6000 psi concrete with steel mesh. I think we really messed up by not pouring deeper concrete where the two post lift needs to be located. So far it looks like 7-8” using 3000 psi is needed. I’m going to speak with an engineer to find out is the 6000 psi of our concrete makes up for any depth needed.
    The other option would be to consider a lighter lift and making sure the van was light enough. I don’t believe I ever have the van heavier than about 9500 lbs. I’ll need to find some scales and make sure I’m correct.
    The van is 9’2” tall. I need a lift with an open top or an extension that allows for higher roof vehicles.

    • @RedlineStands
      @RedlineStands  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure where you are getting your information, but I personally have never seen a lift manual that called for more than 6" of concrete. Most of them call for 3,000 or 3,500 or 4,000 psi concrete, but never 6,000. I can't say this definitively because I do not know the exact lift you're installing and the concrete requirements of this lift, but you likely have overkill on the concrete, which is great.

    • @RedlineStands
      @RedlineStands  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      If we are speaking in reference to scissor style and "some" four post lifts, then yes, the strength of the concrete is of little or no importance. However, if you're speaking in reference to two post lifts, please do not ever pass along these terrible ideas to anyone unless you're trying to kill them.
