KevinOilPainting ...beautiful scene as the warmth of the Sun breaks through the forest...bursts into glorious color...the sky is so powerful...the contrasts of light against dark....you have such a way with skies...as in this one..the light is exquisite ...the trees dance in the sunlight...I feel like I am there in this forest creek...with tumbling water that echoes the sounds of nature...you have captured the "spirit of life" on earth in this wonderful painting...
I am planning on starting painting a few landscape for my porfolio and I have been watching a few videos. It's crazy how many colors I didn't expect you to put in your paintings and the results are just astonishing!! You are a great painter and you are inspiring!
Okay, this is the one. I've been watching hours of your videos and now I've gotta try this one. Love what you do and how you talk about it being fun. Watching you blocking in color makes me realize where I'm being inflexible. Watching how you keep your mid stages from getting muddy is what I need to learn the most. I waste so much energy on that part. I love making the highlights and the super fine details, but I can't build a whole painting on the icing. Thanks for making the other parts clearer. I'm hooked!
Your seemingly innate knowledge of how to achieve certain effects never fails to amaze me Kevin. I learn something every time I watch one of your videos. I can't thank you enough.
Beautiful work... I love the light dancing on the leaves on the opposite side of the river! A little bit of mist with sun shining through makes such a great place to paint!
You all prolly dont care but does anyone know a tool to get back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb forgot the login password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
I love watching & learning about painting "light" into your landscapes. Kevin in my opinion, he is right up there with Thomas Kinkade! I didn't think it was possible to do better or at least equal to Kinkade paintings!
Another beautiful painting, Kevin. I like how you explained the "not so much green" in the trees, with the glow of the sunset. Lots of great tips. Thank you, and have a very Merry Christmas!
Very nice....you always know how to show the light....your commentary always great ...full of valuable tips...really nice scene..color harmony and balanced composition. Like the rocks...your brushstrokes render a realistic look...and the details...your passion for painting is always an inspiration...God bless...
Very beautiful😊😍 love the light and the way you have done it. 🍀🍃🌲🌱🌿🌳 your hands must respect because your amazing videos. thank you for showing and sharing👍
Kevin, you should start a series where you do paintings of different places from around the world! I would absolutely love to see you paint the cliffs of Moher in Ireland. Just a thought :)
Beautiful! How did you blend the violet and yellow background in the beginning of the video without turning into green?! Did you wait for the yellow to dry first? Are you using a quick drying medium? Thank you for teaching us
Beautiful as always Kevin. Would buy the DVD if you produced one. It is extremely impossible to know what your next move is on this video. It skips around just way too fast for us to even get an idea of techniques, etc. I have ALL of your DVDs now...yay me! Thank you for your sharing with us. I love your paintings.
So nice, Thanks! Question: On a scale of 1 to 10; how much of your painting can you see in your mind before you start? With 1 being hardly no idea and 10 being a very clear concept of the finished painting. Thank You
Fantastic Kevin..concerning your brushes, are they a lot more advanced than those in the early 19th century? I’m in awe of how the Barbizon painters painted trees (especially Rousseau and Diaz)..
Hi Kevin, I love your work and have watched many of your videos. You are my ikon. Do you just use “clear gel” mixed with your oils. Or other mediums also?
what do u use for canvases? the canvases I can get from art stores still have quite a bit of tooth on. even adding more gesso and sanding only helps a little. it makes can make it difficult to not put to much paint on and get a muddy mess.
Gel Mediums for Oil Painting? Is this gel medium is oils and acrylics? Gel which company do you use? Is this gel is applied in order to more easily paint over larger areas? Sorry for my english but I'm Polish. :)
Sunleo Studio ..hi here is a link to Kevin's site...you can find the info about the gel...it's an Alkyd gel...non toxic and Kevin uses it with the sky and water area to achieve a smooth blend...hope this helps.
Nothing happened that you forgot. I asked in the store for such an artistic but it did not have. I need to buy the ineteretu. Indeed, when I paint the sky to paint difficult distributes and I find it hard to achieve a nice soft color transitions equally.
Kevin, just a quick question for you, how do you not overdue the trees in your paintings? I have a problem with painting a group of trees then it just turns out into a blob of green.
illuminating Wings ...hi, I hope you give it a try...Kevin's oils are really good quality made by Gamblin...I think once you get the feel of oils you will have success...I do think from my experience...using Kevin's supplies...if your going to follow along with him...are better to have...I found out the hard way...oils are a pleasure to paint with opposed to acrylics...I always had a difficult time as they don't blend like oils..and you have to do many layers...also they dry darker..thus it takes along time for one to really get the colors down. All of Kevin's oils and medium are non toxic....best wishes ..have fun if you give oils ago.
Marcus Moylan it's 15:30 long,he skipped out more than half the video! Marcus, you should also check out John mange lisondra (I hope I spelt that right) he's not as good as Kevin Hill or Mural Joe but he is very good, reminds me of Thomas Kinkaid.
I am pretty sure he doesn't wait since he works with oil. By applying it on when the undercoat is still wet it is very easy to blend the two colors in especially in the parts where the sun shines this is very important.
