    Stunning yet precise demonstration of the "creation of distance" illusion through right colour, correct amount of contrast and just as needed sharpness. Wonderful! Thanks buddy.

    The reason blue is the color of distance has to do with the spectrum of light. Blue/purple light travels the farthest, so it is the prominent color that shows up at a distance.
    This is the first of your videos that I have seen. I like your style of painting and your kind demeanor. I shall return for more videos.

    As a pro Disney Fine Artist, I'd love to see a video of how you arrive at how much detail you deside to put in any particular object. How much is to much and how do you balance that detail back to front so as to not overwork a scene and how yo control the viewers eye. Painters from the Renaissance Era were quite good at it. Great lesson Kevin, you're an exceptional teacher.

    • @cmecu_seemeseeyou9330
      @cmecu_seemeseeyou9330 ปีที่แล้ว

      When I paint , when i think about detail, I go by a rule, the more detailed something is, the more accurate it needs to be. And normally anything more detailed are the things closet to you up in the fore front. For example, if I do a refection of a tree in water, if its a pond int he back ground, I just need to put in the general colors reflected into the water, no exact shapes like the tree itself, if I were to make the reflection like a mirror image with a lot of detail, it would immediately pull the reflection close up to the forefront, and it wouldnt look right.

    I think about it in terms of how our eyes work optically. The farther things are, we see less detail and color- things get fuzzy. The closer things are to our eyes, the more we see color, detail and the sharpness of what we are seeing

    Very useful, thanks. Could you do a similar video on trees: how to paint a background forest, middle-ground group of trees and a foreground tree on top of each other so that they don't merge and are beautiful?

    • @elbaz860
      @elbaz860 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kevin has done that in many of his paintings already

    • @andymorrall
      @andymorrall 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@elbaz860 Yes, he has. He has also painted distant mountains many times, but viewers still find the above video, with its detailed and specific description and demonstration, useful; and might find a similar tree video equally useful. I know I would, as I still have problems with trees.
