    Purchased a Z330R w/48 inch deck earlier this week. Cut quality and handling is awesome. I have been operating zero turn mowers for over 20 years and this particular setup is one of the best yet. After viewing this video I just wanted to sit on one to seal the deal. I have 2 acres to mow that goes from flat land, to hilly to some rough areas of the lawn and roadside ditches that are not too bad of a slope. I hope this is my forever mower. Hope this review helps gain some potential customers.

    Just got my Z330R yesterday and replaced the plastic bushings at the top of the caster spindle with ball bearing p/n AM102888, same part that's at the bottom of the caster spindle. You should add a 3/8" flat washer between the top of the caster spindle and the top retainer (black metal cap) to maintain proper spacing. I used a stainless 3/8" washer which is about 0.050" thick and 0.875" diameter. Worked perfectly! Now I've got a much more robust front caster setup like the design of the Z500 series and up!

    I just bought a Z330R (48 inch deck) yesterday. Wow! I love it! I looked at tons of reviews regarding zero turn mowers. Consumer Reports rates the John Deere zero turn mowers highly. One of the things that sold me on this one is that I kept seeing notes that said it was good for hilly lawns, and it really is. I'm still learning, of course, and need to set the anti-scalp wheels to fine-tune my cut, but it seems that they've thought of everything on this machine! Icing on the cake is that I was able to drive about a mile to the Western Equipment dealer here and buy this mower locally. That means local help, local service, and a nice relationship with the guys at the store who were incredibly helpful. You won't find that at a big box store. It's not cheap! But I think the quality and, hopefully, long life of the mower will make the outlay more than worth it. Thanks for the video. Obviously, I'm still learning about this machine. Your video is very helpful. Thanks!

    After many weeks of deliberation, I finally chose a Z330R-54". Talk about a residential zero-turn that thinks it's a commercial "big boy". Rated for approximately 1-3 acres, I fall right in the middle of that, offering me it's exceptional durability plus the opportunity for gentler use and mower longevity over-all. The bells and whistles (most of which are included) are a very nice touch as well. The 23hp Kawasaki V-Twin powers effortlessly through the taller grass that made my Cub Cadet LT1050 struggle. Durability, comfort, and power is all a man could ask for, and this mower has it.

      @@RavishingSailor It loves to mow, purrs like a kitten, handling is a dream! So happy I chose this one. Very comfortable, starts great. I mow full throttle as recommended and hardly any vibration at all. The Z330R is one tough residential performer! The steering is sensitive yet smooth making for seamless gliding transitions with no clunking, or dead spots. A great machine that I feel blessed to own. It is built very strong, and accompanied with a usage that is roughly half its recommended limits, I can look forward to many, many years of reliability, and peace of mind knowing I made the right choice.

    This seems like a good value choice for home owners with 1-2 acres or less. I've done exhaustive research and your vids have been really helpful. I'm finally starting to close in on the right choice and I think this is the top contender. How's the seat comfort? When I sat on the X370 at my dealer I wasn't super impressed. I currently have a X350 with a 42 inch deck. It was my first time owning a ride on lawn mower and the X350 seemed to be want I needed. Two years later and now I am considering the Z330R 48 inch deck as a replacement as the 54 inch deck is too large for my storage space. My main reasons for considering the zero turn is to save time a mowing, a slightly larger deck and the fact that I do not use the X350 in the winter for snow removal . Has anyone else moved from a lawn tractor to a zero turn and thoughts of owning an Z330R.

    I’m looking at the z330r, x380 tractor, and z530m. I have an acre that is not all level. It has some gradual slopes around perimeter with small hill. Not very steep at all. I’m a bigger guy. 6’1 and about 280. Of these 3, which mower do you think would serve me best? Forgot to mention, the lowest part of the yard stays a little wetter longer after a rain. Any help would be appreciated and love your videos. Keep ‘ ‘em coming and thanks a bunch.

      From what you have told me, I would rule out the Z330R. My next step would be to go to a dealership and sit on the other two mowers and see which one is more comfortable to you. Other than that, I think either the X380 or the Z530M would be a good choice. And thanks for watching the videos. Plenty more to come!

    I notice that the "special" green operator levers with the weird extra curves from last year are gone....
    I guess they really weren't such a big deal after all?
    Looks like they put some decent rear tires on with nice siping for good traction. Are they 2 ply or 4?

    Great demo as always! Few quick questions:
    Are there any other grease zerks on the machine beyond the ones on the blade spindles?
    Is there a special lube for all of the other metal-to-metal pivot points that are exposed or do you just use a tacky grease?
    Does the mower come standard with the 3-in-1 multi-purpose blades?
    Can you please do an install video of the BUC11344 Power Flow MCS on this mower when you get one? Thanks!

    • @WesternEquipment
      @WesternEquipment  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The blade spindles are the only grease points, a multi purpose grease will work well in the other areas, the 3-in-1 blades are standard, and yes I will put this video on my list. Thanks!

      @mellowjammer ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@WesternEquipment Just got my Z330R yesterday and there IS another grease zerk aside from the 3 blade spindles. It is on the top of the idler pulley that is the pivot point for the arm. Looks like it lubricates the pivot bushing. You may need a right angle grease gun tip to get to it.

      The 330R would give you the plus of being able to trim on both sides, you just have to decide if you like the rear discharge or not. If the grass is very tall you will likely see some windrowing occur. Have you ever used a rear discharge mower on your lawn?

    • @WesternEquipment

      I believe it just kills the blades because to get up you would have to throw your control levers out and that would set the parking brake. This should keep the engine from shutting down so I'm pretty sure it just kills the blades.

    I can get a new closeout new Z365R for $2980 or the Z330R for $3999. Which one should I get? Are the upgrades worth it?

    • @WesternEquipment
      @WesternEquipment  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In my opinion, the up grades are way worth it if you plan on keeping the mower for a very long time. If you had the intentions on upgrading in a few years then save the money and take the closeout deal.

      Can you help me understand which upgrades to value the most? Is the Kawasaki engine that much better than the Extended life 24hp Britton Straggs? The lights, parking break, changes to the lift system don’t seem worth an extra grand to me.

      @@markrobinson1896 The new beefier frame won't flex like it did on the older models...much stiffer. The old models had plastic bushings in the front caster spindles. Now there's a ball bearing at the bottom of the caster spindle. New model has solid deck lift linkage...not a dang cable that' a PITA to get to if/when it breaks. The Kawi is a BIG plus for me, but some like the Briggs. I am not comfortable with the Z365R's "easy change oil system" filter which only changes half the oil and costs $80 per oil change. So... there's a few reasons...but like Brett said, if you are only going to have it short term and don't mind having less quality, features, robustness & dependability, the older model will still cut grass just fine.

    I started my lawn care service last summer. I currently have the x350 John Deere. But I want a zero turn 48 or 54 inch deck. My yards are all medium size residential I’m in the market to buy something that will last me but isn’t fully commercial. More like introduction to commercial mowers that won’t break my bank. Any recommendations?

    @WesternEquipment, I just purchased this mower and I am confused with the usage of the choke lever. In the user manual, it states that the choke should be pulled down when starting a cold engine and then pushed completely up after it is started. This seems opposite to what is shown in this video along with where the choke symbol is located. Furthermore, whenever I tried to push the choke lever back up as described in the user manual, the engine shuts off within a few seconds. Is this normal? I tried running the mower with the choke lever pulled down (towards turtle symbol) as that was the only way I could keep the engine going, but it ended up dying after 30 minutes and refuses to start back up regardless of where I put the choke lever (perhaps I got a lemon). Lowes has agreed to replace the mower, but I wanted to make sure I was operating the choke right for when the replacement comes in.
    Also, what throttle position do you recommend for engaging and disengaging the mower, and for turning on and off the engine. The user manual states that it should be in full throttle for all cases, but I am not sure if I trust the user manual at this point. Thank you in advance.

    Deere is the only brand I’ve found that offers a light colored seat. Mowing in the sun with a black seat is not fun - and I never hear this pointed out as a selling point for the JD products.
