  • Pictures were found of the brothers' naked bodies at 6 and 8 years old which had their heads cut off and focused on their genitals. 6 year old Erik appears to have an erection in one of the photos.
The envelope containing those photographs had their mother's handwriting on it that said "Erik's 6th birthday."

Then I would like to say thank you to the Menéndez brothers, Lyle and Erik as well as their legal team for raising awareness. It took the bravery of many many people to cause the 'me too' movement, expose what is happening in huge circles such as churches. This testimony made a difference. It moved people to speak up. Right now there is a case in France of a woman who was drugged by her husband and 'given' to his 'friends' - Dominique Pelicot. She has chosen to have this trail publicly. (There is a similar case in the Philippines.)
To Erik and Lyle I want to say please acknowledge yourselves for being part of the movement exposing exploitation. I want to acknowledge you for moving society forward. For taking something terrible that happened to you and allowing society to see what needs to change. Where we are all falling short. It is going to take a collective effort to prevent this kind of abuse happening and your story is part of it. Thank you.

And they played off of each other, and sometimes it was the opposite they fought over the kids. Eventually they kinda divided up the kids like picking teams so two kids were on mom‘s team and two kids were on dad‘s team. My parents would talk badly about the other team . Things like “We can’t trust them because they are loyal to Dad” “Don’t tell them anything we talk about because she will tell Dad”. My sister was younger and she couldn’t help but tell me things…. She said that my mom would tell her stuff that she shouldn’t have heard. Personal stuff It’s sad when grown adults don’t have control of themselves… it affects their children.

This case is genuinely one of the greatest injustices I've ever heard of. I can't believe that two victims had to sit and talk about these things, and how traumatic it must have been to even relive them, let alone tell strangers, and that even having done so, they ended up with life in prison. It's just so wrong. I hope their trauma can end soon. I know it will always be there, but I hope that they can be free and at least have it officially known that a wrong was done to them by the system, because people were ignorant and prejudiced, and they can experience life as it should be. My heart breaks with every new thing I learn about their ordeal. All I can think is that at least they have each other for support, and have families too who are backing them. Why did nobody protect these boys when they were in such desperate need of help? I just cannot understand it. They were failed by so many people.

This is just a myth, just like the myth that people will look you in the eyes when being truthful. Both are a load of crap, as all individuals are different. These theories have been debunked a long time ago, but still people are continuing to say these things, especially controlled opposition like Jordan Peterson, who just recently made a video claiming this false myth about eye contact and truthfulness... It's to cause misunderstandings and conflicts amongst people.

Speaking as someone who is coming from a home where abuse very similar to what these boys went through took place and there being a reality out there where this type of documentary was made about me it was that bad, i was violently sa'd several times a week from 4 years old to 13 years old when i was finally big enough to fight back against my abuser, even having my colon ruptured and a disc dislocated in the same assault because of how brutal he was being and him being too big for my malnourished body to handle his size with that level of force without tearing, these men _are guilty._ they murdered their parents and they deserved to do time for that. But the aggravating factor and nature of their childhood means they should not have been given life. I truly empathize with these men because there were days i almost did the same thing to escape the abuse i endured my whole life, but what they did was wrong. There were ways for them to get away without killing their parents. I know because i did it, i ran away at 14 and have been on my own ever since supporting myself. It took an insane amount of hard work and it was extremely difficult at times but it was infinitely better than what was happening at home. So while i understand that they needed to make it stop and i can't fault them that much because there were times where i was strongly considering doing it myself, but i made the choice not to and they could have too. But they didn't and they deserved to be punished for that but life was an unbelievably harsh punishment and they should have been out years and years ago. They didn't deserve what was done to them as children but that doesn't excuse murder is all i am trying to say.

When you’re a child with people that are supposed to care and love for you and you are only exposed to a certain environment, abuse is overlooked by the victim because all you care about is making them happy and weather is physical abuse, violence or sexual assault the victim doesn’t know any better! I am a survivor of sexual and physical abuse and it’s part of my past that still affects me till today! Started at 7 years old and stopped when I was 19… by different close people.
