I loved how distinct their eyes were here. Most versions that depict turtles with pupils all make them look the same, but here, it was great how each of them had their own individual eye color.

Nickelodeon just like: Oh no, this kids show is becoming to complex and phenominal written! Quickly, end the show and replace it something more kid friendly! And change up all the characters. This show handles them to close to the comics.
I know right, same with Marvel, DC and Ben 10, disappointing that these shows have taken a dive in quality to a adopt an Adventure Time style animation to appeal to more kids, plus the dive in overall storytelling.
You still gotta admit, the 2018 TMNT has its moments from time to time. Especially the new Villains they have too! Well i think they made a intentional strategy, nickelodeon knew that the show will be dark and they end it to replace it with stupid comedy to make controversy, rating and money to any negative rant from the fandom, like cartoon network and warner bros did it to teen titans. It's a bussiness strategy but it's very used and corrupted.

TMNT 2012 is for the TMNT what Transformers Prime was for Transformers....the absolute nest version in every way, and have become my favorite TMNT show of all times.
it`s about time this series got more attention. it`s easily best incarnation of turtles yet. and, yes this splinter is easily the best out of all them. as much as i love the 2003 turtles, it`s SHREDDER just plain blows .making he a tiny alien just made him less threatening.
I dis agree, I think that making the shredder an alien to me was a good way to keep bring the shredder back after killing him a few times. But I do agree that the level of mystery and fear did go down a little after he was revealed
TEDDY READY true but one thing I totally agree with is Splinter. While was awesome in the 2003 series he was most of time treated as someone who needed saving. But the 2012 series changed this and reminded us just how awesome and how dangerous master splinter really is.
Character development in the 2012 series was INSANE!.. Honestly, I never wanted this series to end. In fact, I think that (and, maybe, the esthetics) is why the 2018 series semi-bombed. 2012 set the bar and 2018 didn't reach it.
I think it's because 2012 and 2018 are really different from each other. Especially 2018 being different from the other shows. Of course each show is gonna be unique in its own way, but you could really see the differences from the 2018 show. With 2018, the designs are completely different with them not being the same species of turtle. Raph being the oldest and leader, as well as his personality not being angry 24/7. Splinter is different, April is different (honestly, I think she's the best April so far, though), the bad guys are REALLY different, and they get mystic powers as well as Donnie's tech being super advanced. I did really enjoy watching 2018, though, but personally I'm gonna have to say I liked 2012 and 2003 a lot better. What I'm going off is that most people aren't gonna love both shows equally (especially from what I've seen and my personal experience). And a lot of people's childhood being the 2012 show.

2012 WAS my incarnation, the series I grew up with my version of the TMNT. I will always belove this series as it embodies and takes everything great about its predecessors and balances it brilliantly. This incarnation of the turtles themselves are to me the most teen like and the dynamic and sense of brotherhood shines brightest here. The whole theme tune is solid and I love the rap and remember it fondly probably word for word and the quick rapid brief breakdown of each turtles flows so well. Don't forget the instrumental version the piece the jazz adds so much character and Life to it giving a orchestral cinematic vibe. I truly like every character both main and side. The reason I dislike rise is solely down to the lack of plot or cohesive one I don't mind the silly and not entirely serious tone but for me coming off of 2012 TMNT it was a temporary shock a rocky one. The turtles to me feel to similar no distinctive characteristics i love April a lot and the change in ethnicity is interesting, I watched a bit of the series but the shows schedule and runtime are factors that hindered my experience the animation is by all means a pleasure to witness the amount of work that must go into that is impressive and appreciated just wanted a actual story to go along side it. It's not in the same vain as similar shows like TTG or Thundercats Roar but those aspects and trends are present a almost parody show. The Netflix movie seems like it will give it a defined story and serious tone I don't mind jokes but they have to be meaningful I want substance that's what it's other 3 predecessors did well.

I love the 2012 Nickelodeon TMNT Series and I do love it so much that it's beloved and I miss it so much. I love the action, humor, animation, and story arcs. I hope that we get something new involving 2012 Turtles like a Comic Book Crossover or a Animated Movie.
Personally, I loved the 2012 series, but the finale it had was kinda underwelming. They rushed everything nearing the end, with the true series finale just thanos snapping all the characters we knew and love, and turning it into a mad max parody. To be fair, I think a post-apocalyptic tmnt spinoff would be incredible to watch, but chucking it in at the last minute like what they did for the 2012 series is not the way to do it. To make that realization better, it's best to stop watching the series when they finally kill the Shredder, as that in my opinion is the true finale of this amazing series.
Nice review, the Leo karai connection is very similar to the 2003 series. Both 2003 and 2012 series' were very good no disrespect to the 1987 series but it was clearly written by people who did comedy which would explain the lack of real action in most episodes bar the 1st series which was done by a Japanese company which consisted of 4/5 episodes and you can seriously see the difference when the turtles use their weapons
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2012 is one of my favorite tv shows ever on nickelodeon. At first, I wasn't into the turtles, but when this version showed up on the channel, I started loving it compared to the other versions which I wasn't that interested in. I grew up watching this version since high school when it premiered. They made great stories with memorable characters, challenging villains, funny dialogues, bigger stories through later seasons. Each season went from bigger to bigger to deeper to darker. When I rank this show with all the other nickelodeon shows, it's my number three favorite. My favourite character is Michelangelo which made nunchucks my favorite weapon. Doing martial arts inspired me from this show. I highly recommend who hasn't watched the turtles yet should give the 2012 version a try first.
If you want a show to review how about The Last Airbender. That show is honestly one of my favourite fandom's of all time and is overall such a well rounded show that it's still relevant fourteen(ish) years after initial release.

This cartoon is more than good for me, it left a bright mark in my childhood. Unfortunately, many people still hate this series, having not watched 2 seasons, and classify it as a "children's" cartoon, although there are more tragic moments than in the 00s. And this series also holds the bar until the very end, which the 00s could not do. But I'm not saying that 2003 is worse, it just seemed to me weaker both in terms of graphics and characters and plot. What prevents me from loving the 00s series most of all is its toxic fans (not all) who poke their noses into all the cracks, sorry. But this is my subjective opinion. Sorry for my bad english

This show *was* my childhood this was the first actually complex show I saw and I only learned some of the deepest parts of it a few months ago such as Leo conquering his fear from the mutant mushrooms which is such a good episode
I wish it had one final movie to wrap up what happened to any mutants like spider byte and snakeweed and wrap up baxter stockman's character with a final confrontation with the main characters
I think the most disappointing thing about this show is the fact that they never got to meet their 2003 counterparts. It would’ve been so interesting to see them interact considering they’re the most fleshed out worlds

My biggest gripe with this show is it's habit of abandoning storylines. April's mother, her current whereabouts, if she's even still alive being the biggest example. That episode sets up April searching for her. And, it nowhere.
The ending for the 2012 tmnt series was just very depressing yet à very brave move from the staff who work on the show i mean Raphael:mutant apocalyps was just insane, the future for the turterls was just very dark with everybody daying because of the bomb like no sign of eny human (rip casy and April) so yeh that ending just hit me alot

really? I always thought there was way more stories Tmnt 2012 wanted to tell and expand upon especially after season 5's many short comings. Season 3 was when the show really declined in quality for me, it was no longer about making deep interesting characters but introducing cool characters for the sake of selling toys. Not only that but I felt that the turtles stopped developing after the beginning of s3 and some major plot point were even resolved within 1-2 episodes. There was so many room to develop for leo, Raph, Donnie and Mikey by the end of season 4 that I felt Shredder finale felt undeserved. We never got to see the turtles develop into adults in the end who are capable of taking care of themselves and earn to finally function as a team while facing and accepting there differences.
I loved everything about this series overall. Instead of the animation putting into CGI they've should've put it into the coolest art style cartoon (almost like a tad bit anime with hardcore animation scenes) then it'll be the coolest tmnt ever!!!
I used to love this show when i was younger but i never finished the series so i have absolutely no idea what happens in the end im gonna go rewatch it now
I had very few issues with this series, it’s a truly great show for TMNT fans and non-fans alike. I do think Donnie’s infatuation with April could and should have been let go after a point since it ended up being more for jokes than any actual part of Donnie’s character arcs. April was sometimes a little mishandled, but mostly I’d say she was really well done. All in all, very few complaints.
This was one my favorite shows to watch during the 2010s but I will say this the way they ended it was to put it mildly bad. I got no closer with the story or to the villains and the love triangle with Donnie and the same could be said with Leo. Also bring the shedder back from the dead was probably when it lost me. I really want them to come back for one season or redo the last season but I know it won't happen.
I grew up on the 2003 show and despite preferring it in some aspects I would still chose 2012 over it. One reason being that 2012 just feels more genuine and more teenager like.

You know, say what you want I am quite content with the final episode for personal reasons, belive it or not. But most of all, personally, if it wasn't for that "Monkey Wrench" of a plot twist that they threw at us at one point (which sparked a community wide uproar/outrage on the fandom, because they considered it a great big middle finger) then the series would have been even better as it should have been. But don't get me wrong, it was pretty great. And I even have a solution for that "Monkey Wrench".

This isn't a kid's show... On the surface sure, but when you actually watch it you see darker themes such as self sacrifice, slavery, horror, mass destruction in a form of a planet eating black hole. Even sciency stuff such as biology and physics. There are also some side stuff you notice if you actually look around. There is a character in season 3 holding his dead mother's head and comunicates with it like some sort of a maniac. There is also an episode where the turtles are responsible for a giant mutant bird fish, and a week or so after the mutation the thing attacks them and brings them to its nest. Its nest is full of human bones and skeletons. So that would mean that the turtles are responsible for the deaths of a dozen people, indirectly of course. Also in season 4, countless triceraton ships get destroyed with pilots inside. So basically the series is darker than nickelodeon would have everyone believe

Actually, the 1987 incarnation got better and more serious from the 7th season I think.
But yep, the 2003 & 2012 incarnations were also very amazing.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2012 is one of my favorite tv shows ever on nickelodeon. At first, I wasn't into the turtles, but when this version showed up on the channel, I started loving it compared to the other versions which I wasn't that interested in. I grew up watching this version since high school when it premiered. They made great stories with memorable characters, challenging villains, funny dialogues, bigger stories through later seasons. Each season went from bigger to bigger to deeper to darker. When I rank this show with all the other nickelodeon shows, it's my number three favorite. My favourite character is Michelangelo which made nunchucks my favorite weapon. Doing martial arts inspired me from this show. I highly recommend who hasn't watched the turtles yet should give the 2012 version a try first.

If you want a show to review how about The Last Airbender. That show is honestly one of my favourite fandom's of all time and is overall such a well rounded show that it's still relevant fourteen(ish) years after initial release.

but season 5 was some random stuff, and the usagi yojimbo arc was really good!
I wish this was the Nickelodeon Ninja Turtles that got recognized instead of that Stupid Rise of the Tmnt show.

This show was EPIC! It is the best TMNT show out there and it needs to make a comeback (at least as a one shot movie or something)

This cartoon is more than good for me, it left a bright mark in my childhood. Unfortunately, many people still hate this series, having not watched 2 seasons, and classify it as a "children's" cartoon, although there are more tragic moments than in the 00s. And this series also holds the bar until the very end, which the 00s could not do. But I'm not saying that 2003 is worse, it just seemed to me weaker both in terms of graphics and characters and plot. What prevents me from loving the 00s series most of all is its toxic fans (not all) who poke their noses into all the cracks, sorry. But this is my subjective opinion.

I love it when the villains complain about the turtles or there comrades or even shredder it always made me laugh because these aren’t just villains for the turtles to fight they are there own ppl with complaints
This is the best remake in the franchise to me personally.
This show *was* my childhood this was the first actually complex show I saw and I only learned some of the deepest parts of it a few months ago such as Leo conquering his fear from the mutant mushrooms which is such a good episode

For me, 2003 Shredder is the best because he's unstoppable. He's terrifying, and he was definitely the best of the three Shredders from that show.

I wish it had one final movie to wrap up what happened to any mutants like spider byte and snakeweed and wrap up baxter stockman's character with a final confrontation with the main characters
I think the last few episodes in the apocalypse could be viewed like a movie

I think the most disappointing thing about this show is the fact that they never got to meet their 2003 counterparts. It would’ve been so interesting to see them interact considering they’re the most fleshed out worlds

Og cartoon shredder: nice uncle but I WANT TO RULL EARTH (baby sound)
2003 shredder: nice voice but just 1 dimensional and a krang ripof which is just because it was unexpected
2012 shredder: the true shredder actually badass and is complicated and I am gonna cry for his sad and tragic Darth Vader like life

My biggest gripe with this show is it's habit of abandoning storylines.
April's mother, her current whereabouts, if she's even still alive being
the biggest example. That episode sets up April searching for her.
And, it nowhere.
The ending for the 2012 tmnt series was just very depressing yet à very brave move from the staff who work on the show i mean Raphael:mutant apocalyps was just insane, the future for the turterls was just very dark with everybody daying because of the bomb like no sign of eny human (rip casy and April) so yeh that ending just hit me alot

(9:47) blame that on nickelodeon. the series was initially set to be release around 2020,so i`m guess the writers and the producers wanted the series to have like 8 or 10 seasons planned out,but nickelodeon wanted the series out early,so they were force to go with what they already had and had to scrap ideas they had for potential storylines and resolve storyarcs in one ep. i dont know why they release the series early ,but i do have theories. one of them involves with the large amount success cn had back in the min 2000s, nick believe with the popular the og series had was enought to compete with cartoon network.

really? I always thought there was way more stories Tmnt 2012 wanted to tell and expand upon especially after season 5's many short comings. Season 3 was when the show really declined in quality for me, it was no longer about making deep interesting characters but introducing cool characters for the sake of selling toys. Not only that but I felt that the turtles stopped developing after the beginning of s3 and some major plot point were even resolved within 1-2 episodes. There was so many room to develop for leo, Raph, Donnie and Mikey by the end of season 4 that I felt Shredder finale felt undeserved. We never got to see the turtles develop into adults in the end who are capable of taking care of themselves and earn to finally function as a team while facing and accepting there differences.

I loved everything about this series overall. Instead of the animation putting into CGI they've should've put it into the coolest art style cartoon (almost like a tad bit anime with hardcore animation scenes) then it'll be the coolest tmnt ever!!!

I had very few issues with this series, it’s a truly great show for TMNT fans and non-fans alike. I do think Donnie’s infatuation with April could and should have been let go after a point since it ended up being more for jokes than any actual part of Donnie’s character arcs. April was sometimes a little mishandled, but mostly I’d say she was really well done. All in all, very few complaints.
This was one my favorite shows to watch during the 2010s but I will say this the way they ended it was to put it mildly bad. I got no closer with the story or to the villains and the love triangle with Donnie and the same could be said with Leo. Also bring the shedder back from the dead was probably when it lost me. I really want them to come back for one season or redo the last season but I know it won't happen.

I grew up on the 2003 show and despite preferring it in some aspects I would still chose 2012 over it. One reason being that 2012 just feels more genuine and more teenager like.

You know, say what you want I am quite content with the final episode for personal reasons, belive it or not.
But most of all, personally, if it wasn't for that "Monkey Wrench" of a plot twist that they threw at us at one point (which sparked a community wide uproar/outrage on the fandom, because they considered it a great big middle finger) then the series would have been even better as it should have been.
But don't get me wrong, it was pretty great. And I even have a solution for that "Monkey Wrench".

Actually, 'Crognarr The Barbarian' is A riff on 'Thundarr The Barbarian', but one scene were he punches A monster was clearly ripped from 'He-Man'.

I like the TMNT 2012 series, seems like a bit underrated show, but sometimes the fanbase.... (only a portion)
This isn't a kid's show... On the surface sure, but when you actually watch it you see darker themes such as self sacrifice, slavery, horror, mass destruction in a form of a planet eating black hole. Even sciency stuff such as biology and physics. There are also some side stuff you notice if you actually look around. There is a character in season 3 holding his dead mother's head and comunicates with it like some sort of a maniac. There is also an episode where the turtles are responsible for a giant mutant bird fish, and a week or so after the mutation the thing attacks them and brings them to its nest. Its nest is full of human bones and skeletons. So that would mean that the turtles are responsible for the deaths of a dozen people, indirectly of course. Also in season 4, countless triceraton ships get destroyed with pilots inside. So basically the series is darker than nickelodeon would have everyone believe

IMO, this series was nostalgia done right.
It served as a love letter to the entire franchise (though mostly the 1987 Cartoon), while still being enjoyable on its own merits

Yes, Splinter dies(twice) on screen, his wife dies on screen, population of earth dies(not permanent) and they kill shredder off screen, but show his decapitated head

2003 Shredder is the best but this shredder is second. The generic villain voice takes a few points off.... 2003 Shredder voice, theme and look are beyond great. I might even like this show more than the orginal but the first movie and 2003 turtles are the best

I think Shredder being an Ultrom takes a few points off from the 2003 version, so I prefer the 2012 Shredder even though I like the 2003 series more.
