Hey guys, I'm not a laptop expert, Mayank Mittal wanted to share few insights. Do give it a read: Few suggestions 1. You are comparing a 15inch laptop and 13 inch for battery you obviously can't get similar backup from those. 2. For booting/sleep wake mac has UFS3.1 where as your windows machine may be on hdd even if on ssd not a good one most probably. Or you have too many startup apps. 3. As for Ml and DL stuff you can do it online on cloud or other things but definitely not on a macbook air with big datasets. 4. Speed again is based upon h/w config. As for on my laptop and few others that I have used I get kind of same from my friends macbook pro on major softwares and compile times. I do consider that the updates on windows machine are a pain. 5. One most important thing that you left is trackpad and keyboard that are very essential. 6. As for no of defective pieces and problems with a laptop is just luck and windows people have higher probability of manufacturing defects due to no. Of pieces produced and depend upon company.
no bro nowadays you will find ssd in almost every windows laptop and even hybrid options , and this macbook air has a sata based ssd which is much slower than a nvme m.2 ssd which is available in much cheaper than this one
4:30 loading time can be improved using SSD. MacBooks use SSDs and most of the budget windows machines use HDDs, which are way slower in comparison. So it's a problem that can be fixed by putting a decent SSD in the laptop(SSDs are costlier in comparison to HDDs, so that's a factor as well for the larger cost of the MacBook)
Linux is best , people don't know how to code on terminal they think they are using computer while using windows but they aren't they are actually using user friendly interface that doesn't develop your skills. Well that's my opinion and yes macos is also developed from Linux only

your logic isnt wrong but.. even if you install Ubuntu on your windows PC... macbooks are optimised for its Linux based OS by apple and they do it pretty well.. i can certainly say that the performance wont beat macbook
Also guys, for photoshop and blender -> Number pad is very essential, people usually skip the number pad. Touchscreen laptops are a great option too. If anybody wants to get into design you dont need to buy another tablet or anything.
Depends upon how you maintain your PC over the course of a period. I have a mid-segment laptop and it is very very smooth and responsive, even though it is 2 years old. If you constantly update your PC, defrag your hard drive, keep your files clean, and disable unwanted settings, you are good to go. It would be easily comparable to Mac also.
i completely agree with you, however the problem lies in the fact that most laptop users are not familiar/comfortable with tweaking these settings regularly. plus, the user interface and the overall user experience can greatly affect a person's work/play/productivity.. it's really difficult to draw a comparison however harish does his level best.

I searched for 2 months for my laptop purchase and I got an amazing deal also don't buy the laptop online buy them offline you will get a much better deal and a place to go to if anything wrong happen .

Nope dude in my opinion don't go for a Mac There are many many manyyy other laptops cheaper than the Mac and they outperform the Mac so bad So I don't suggest you to go for a Mac. That's just my opinion Cuz I bought a hp omen 15' 3years ago and it's still faster than my Mac and was also a lot cheaper and also the cost for service is really low so you don't need to worry about that Just try getting a one with good SSD and a decent GPU (1050ti-1660ti) and you should be fine Idk why the Mac is so overpriced but you cant run heavy programs very well in it as compared to a windows pc It's just my preference

I have been using a Lenovo Ideapad 530s i5 8th Gen 2018 model and it beats a Macbook pro 13" 2019 512GB in Adobe Photoshop and Video rendering apps like Fimora, After Effects and even Premier Pro. My laptop(Rs65000) is less than half the price of what the Macbook Pro 13"(Rs1,46,000) cost and both these laptops were bought at the time of their launch. You need to choose the right specs for your particular usage, that is all that matters.
We cant compare macbook with windows....both have it own feature...and the boot speed only depends on the ssd or hdd used or ram used(dual channel memory preferred)...so we cant jst simply compare macbook over windows laptop.....but we compare screen, typing experience, battery life(as you said), etc
Yeah ur right both have their own pros and cons and the boot time depends on the ssd or the hdd used. My lenovo laptop with nvme ssd boots in 10 seconds. The price to performance ratio of windows laptops are much better than macbooks.

No matter what your branch is, a good laptop is a must. my personal suggestion would be, don't go for anything less than an i5, must have an SSD and something that doesn't have a history of overheating.. i can go on.. these are a few of the many minimum requirements.

Most engineering students budget for laptops is around 50-60k. So no point in comparing windows and mac os(macbooks).Windows laptops have the best price to performance ratio. At high budget also i would recommend looking at laptops like thinkpad x1 carbon and dell xps. Only people who want that apple logo or who are already into the apple ecosystem should buy macbooks.
we all have different priorities when it comes to what we want is a laptop.. for example.. i wanted battery life and portability over running video editing and other heavy Softwares so you can guess my natural choice.. its common for people to think MacBooks are expensive.. because their MRP is pretty high.. but if you visit the store.. you can easily avail offers and get around 25-30% off easily.. both windows and mac os have their advantages and disadvantages... what matters is your priorities and what you want to do with your laptop
My advice for people wanting to buy a MacBook for college (2020): 1) Don't buy the MacBooks with butterfly switch keyboards. The keyboard switches are really fragile! 2) Please don't buy the 2017 MacBook Air at this point. As much inviting as it may seem to use a laptop with an Apple logo, it is an ancient relic of a device at this point (the design originally came out in 2009) and you will be really disappointed with the performance if you want to do anything more than day to day tasks and coding. (and in India it comes in 128GB model only as of now so best luck using it lol) 3) Try looking at refurbished options as they give a better value and the overall experience is pretty much the same

I need help choosing a laptop as I am going an engineering college this year and my department is mechanical engineering . I game occassionally on my old pc and Play GTA V and shooters . I had the Hp omen 15 with 9thr gen i7 16gb ram and 4gb 1650 gpu 512 ssd and 1 TB HDD in my mind . Budget till 1.5 lacs . I will also have to run Adobe illustrator, Photoshop and Lightroom with auto cad .
MacBook Air isn't good for high-end coding, it's good for light coding. If you are interested in high-end coding then go for macbook pro if you can afford otherwise choose windows with i5 10th gen Suggestions : asus 14 or hp envy or acer swift you will get a valuable output
the 2019 Macbook air has the power required to handle video editing however I wouldn't recommend getting the air for video editing due to heating issues.. the cooling system of the air isn't enough to handle video editing. note that it does have the power, which means you will be able to do your work but not for sustained periods of time. for this purpose I would recommend a medium spec MacBook pro
@@VatsalGoyal it can, what matters is how many layers of 4K video your are editing, anything more than 2 will give trouble, but yes air is not made for this, since it has poor thermals, but still it can work on any bad day , but I won't recommend it for sole purpose of video editing.

Overall best laptop for both gaming and sleek looks(unlike gamery like predator) is lenovo legion 5(2020)(yet to be released) .....i means its the best under 80k ..no issues.......if you have 80k better buy legion 5 (2020)
coding is best done on Linux and that makes MacBook the clear winner here(since mac's os is Linux based.. which also makes it a lot lighter in terms of power consumption and faster).. all windows users dual boot Ubuntu on their laptops to code (there's this thing called terminal.. command prompt for windows).. the reason behind it is difficult to explain.
Depends mate, but I'll suggest you to buy one because most professors sends notes ppt and assignments, also you need to do the basic coding stuff in first sem ,but if your college has good Computer centers with enough pc , then you can make it work without laptop also. That's my experience in IIITDMJ, we have great computer center but I don't like leaving my hostel room so I bought one😜😂😂
the problem is the after-sales services.. among many other things.. I have personally found troubleshooting to be a challenge when it comes to surface books. I don't consider them budget-friendly..
I just know one thing.... i was a pro windows supporter.... who used to respect more of specifications than seekng the optimisation. Mac has great optimisation And please dont make the same mistake as me buying a gaming laptop unless you are a serious gamer... Optimisation is better than having an i9

Depends upon how you maintain your PC over the course of a period. I have a mid-segment laptop and it is very very smooth and responsive, even though it is 2 years old. If you constantly update your PC, defrag your hard drive, keep your files clean, and disable unwanted settings, you are good to go. It would be easily comparable to Mac also.

I have been using a Lenovo Ideapad 530s i5 8th Gen 2018 model and it beats a Macbook pro 13" 2019 512GB in Adobe Photoshop and Video rendering apps like Fimora, After Effects and even Premier Pro.
My laptop(Rs65000) is less than half the price of what the Macbook Pro 13"(Rs1,46,000) cost and both these laptops were bought at the time of their launch.
You need to choose the right specs for your particular usage, that is all that matters.
We cant compare macbook with windows....both have it own feature...and the boot speed only depends on the ssd or hdd used or ram used(dual channel memory preferred)...so we cant jst simply compare macbook over windows laptop.....but we compare screen, typing experience, battery life(as you said), etc

No matter what your branch is, a good laptop is a must. my personal suggestion would be, don't go for anything less than an i5, must have an SSD and something that doesn't have a history of overheating.. i can go on.. these are a few of the many minimum requirements.

My advice for people wanting to buy a MacBook for college (2020):
1) Don't buy the MacBooks with butterfly switch keyboards. The keyboard switches are really fragile!
2) Please don't buy the 2017 MacBook Air at this point. As much inviting as it may seem to use a laptop with an Apple logo, it is an ancient relic of a device at this point (the design originally came out in 2009) and you will be really disappointed with the performance if you want to do anything more than day to day tasks and coding. (and in India it comes in 128GB model only as of now so best luck using it lol)
3) Try looking at refurbished options as they give a better value and the overall experience is pretty much the same

the 2019 Macbook air has the power required to handle video editing however I wouldn't recommend getting the air for video editing due to heating issues.. the cooling system of the air isn't enough to handle video editing. note that it does have the power, which means you will be able to do your work but not for sustained periods of time. for this purpose I would recommend a medium spec MacBook pro

Not really. Both are kinda the same. I would anyday prefer Mac for coding though :p
coding is best done on Linux and that makes MacBook the clear winner here(since mac's os is Linux based.. which also makes it a lot lighter in terms of power consumption and faster).. all windows users dual boot Ubuntu on their laptops to code (there's this thing called terminal.. command prompt for windows).. the reason behind it is difficult to explain.
