I love that you showed cleaning your cat carrier! That gets overlooked a lot (I'm a vet) - I often see carriers that are 20 or 30 years old and appear to never have been cleaned, or I'm examining a dog and their collar is soooo gross and stinky! Maybe you could do a video about cleaning pets' stuff. Pet beds, carriers, disinfecting combs and brushes, cleaning leashes and collars (including leather). The video could also include how to take care of pet accidents - vomit, diarrhea, urine, feces... just a thought. I love your channel and your book! :)

That would be something I'd like to see, too - especially easy ways to clean pet beds that are too big to fit in the washer. I usually use a combination of cleaning wipes, a vacuum and lint removers to clean my cat's larger bed. But it still doesn't get as clean as I'd like it.

A long time ago a neighbor showed me how she cleaned bumpy lamp bases and other items in her house you would not put in a dishwasher. She used a baby's hairbrush! The soft bristles did not scratch the surfaces and still got into those little crevices. I still use this method to clean my 110 year old armoire. It has curved edges and claw feet. I spray liquid gold onto hairbrush and clean and polish using gentle circular movements. It cleans the wood and nourishes at the same time. I live in western Colorado and our humidity sometimes gets as low as 5%! I really enjoy your videos and use a lot of your tips. My husband has breathing issues and I first started watching your videos to get alternative ideas for cleaning without strong odors but still got the job done. I grew up using homemade Lye soap, then pinesol and bleach. SO HAPPY to be using baking soda, dish soap and vinegar for most of it!! I have used Oxiclean to clean my carpets since we got a fur baby several years ago. I would not use anything else on my carpets!! Merry Christmas to your family and God's blessings in 2019:)

Someone dropped a glass of red wine. It went on my carpet and on my wall which is white flat paint. I tried t clean it to no avail. The next day, someone gave me a sample of Oxyclean to try. I figure it was a lost cause and dreaded the thought of painting and a new carpet. Aftyer 10 minutes all looked like new, to me that was miraculous!

I’m on my cleaning spree due to covid lock down. Just spent 2 days (4-5 hrs/day) to really go though all products, and cleaned all tiled floor, all walls, shelves, sinks, mirrors. Today is day 3 and I have the tub and shower curtain and wall tiles to do, and couple of windows. I wish I had come across your videos prior to this, but I still got more cleaning to do, so I’m sure I’ll be studying tonight through your channels and target the next area tomorrow and onwards! Thank you. : )

Additional cleaning hack for the shower liner: wash it in the washing machine with the bath towels. The scrubbing action provided by the towels gets the soap scum and any incidental mold in the seams. Multi-tasking, yeah!

I watched this video a few weeks ago and I have come back to comment to say OXICLEAN HAS CHANGED MY LIFE. I had these dining room chairs with a light cream fabric that were HORRIBLE. And I mean HORRIBLE. They were so stained and I had tried everything to clean them to no avail. Finally after watching this video I used Oxiclean and *Angels singing* AHHHHHH it WORKED! It worked instantly. I was watching all this filth come off. I now use Oxiclean on everything. I really had thought I would just have to reupholster the chairs, but thanks to Oxiclean they have been saved! Also tried it on my tile on my kitchen back splash and it worked beautifully as well. Thanks so much, Melissa!!!

I have 2 favourite uses for Oxiclean. Being English we drink a lot of tea and the teapot gets really stained over time, so I put it in a container (because of overflow) I fill the teapot with hot water, then I drop in a tablespoon of Oxiclean, I then top up the container with hot water so that the teapot is totally immersed and leave it overnight. The next day, the teapot is like new and just needs a good rinse out, sometimes I have to use a small bottle brush in the spout. My second use is last thing at night, I drop a tablespoon down the toilet to eliminate any limescale build up and odours.

Frank Rose -Hi Frank, I'm in central PA, where water is very hard because we sit on limestone. UGH. I use borax and vinegar every time I wash dishes or any surface, and tea/coffee with milk leaves residue that does not come off in the dishwasher. I keep borax and baking soda in a container by the sink, put a little in tea/coffee mugs, a squirt of vinegar really activates it, and all is squeaky clean for dishwasher. Otherwise, borax and dishwashing liquid diluted with vinegar when hand washing. My Japanese neighbor used bleach, and she was so glad to switch to my method. Hope it helps you.

For my kitchen...For about the last 3 decades, I've used a small (cup and a half) sized spray bottle...and I put in 91% isopropyl alcohol...and spray that into grout lines, and just about everything else for cleaning. It is absolutely great at removing greasy grime stuff...like what ends up on top of the fridge, or on the over head oven exhaust fan. Just don't mist spray too much at a time, as the fumes can make your eyes water. :P A little goes a long ways.
I've also used it to clean the metal filter such as what was shown in this clip. I've never really used oxy clean, but will give it a try after seeing this. However, what I like about the isopropyl alcohol, is that you don't need to wipe away any soapy residue...it just evaporates on its own.

Mine is using a solution of Murphy’s Oil Soap to clean the doggie enclosure on the porch. My mother had a little outdoor space for her Chihuahuas, and it would get smelly and sometimes get fleas. Mom cleaned up the solid material but still needed to give the porch area a good scrub and wash down. She would use bleach, which gave her migraines. I suggested she try Murphy’s Oil Soap, which cleaned, killed fleas*, and left the area smelling nice. Best thing- no more migraines from bleach! *only kills fleas at certain concentrations

I no longer use regular detergents for general cleaning, laundry or in the kitchen. OxiClean is great in the dishwasher or to soak burned on food. OxiClean is fantastic stuff ! I would never be w/out it. A bachelor friend of ours has told me it doesn't work. So I asked how he's used it. He put a scoop of it in the washer . Well, that's not how it works its best. I find that in a concentrated form is when it performs miracles. I've seen it get stains out that were "impossible" to get out. I've never tried it to clean the shower curtain liner, tho...so thanks for that tip ! I usually toss it in the washer w/some towels & vinegar. But I'm going to try your suggestion.

My hack for cleaning up that raw egg you just dropped on the floor: pick up the shell then cover the egg liberally with salt. let sit for several minutes and sweep up the salt and wipe or mop that area of the floor. I have no idea why this works with salt but not with anything else but it does and it makes cleaning up dropped raw egg so much easier. In fact I need to buy more salt as I recently used up mine cleaning up the six raw eggs that took a header off the kitchen counter.

Just to add a little tip to cleaning grout: I have 1 container with my oxiclean and a separate cup/container with clean water. This way I am not double dipping dirty brush into clean solution and not running to the sink to rinse off constantly. That helps to cover larger area faster. I did my entire kitchen with a toothbrush and initially ran back and forth until I figured there's got to be a different way 🤣
In addition, try to microwave cleaning solution for just 45 seconds or so in between since warm solution removes it better. Less wasted product with 2 container method :)👍

FYI..for your shower curtains you can throw it in the washing machine with a towel or two on HOT with a little laundry soap and bleach. Let it have a short wash and rinse and spin shake it out lightly throw it in the dryer on a low heat with a dryer towel or damp towel for just about 3 to 5 minutes it'll come out beautiful make sure you take it out while it's warm or it will melt or if you let it dry it will stay crinkly so fold it the way you like it or hang it the way you like it when it's warm out of the dryer. Hope you like it didn't mean to infringe. Love you channel

Oh my Goodness so I watched this video and the only oxi clean I had was the laundry spray and I said well let’s try it ( I’ve about killed myself cleaning🤪) I sprayed it on my baseboards ( white ) and it worked amazing! Then I tried it on the toaster oven on the outside we had brown and it wiped right off so I moved to the fridge where the water and ice comes out tree I’ve never seen it that clean ever so then I doubt I will try the oven and the fry pan . Well needless to say it put a dent in it and now I’m off to a ladies Bible study so I have to get ready , Thanks for the idea it was amazing!

I am not quite finished with total task yet, but I am blown away by the results this far. My deep fryer was in really bad shape with a thick build up of almost vulcanized grease around the top edge of the non-stick, removable insert. I tried boiling vinegar - the extra-strong cleaning version of common kitchen white vinegar. No joy - it didn't even soften the gunk. Next I tried Bartender's Friend, but no results from that either. When I watched this video and saw you clean the range hood filter I decided to give Oxy Clean a shot. I was a little nervous at first because of the nonstick finish. OMG - a paste of slightly less water to product ratio and a plastic scrubber is working wonders. I tested it first on the outside of the insert, and when it didn't hurt the finish I went in for the kill. Not sure how it will work on the plastic exterior of the fryer, but I'll just test it first. So far so good though. HOORAY for Oxy Clean!

I use oxy clean in so many ways as well! I use the soak solution to soak my a pool filters. I alternate two filters and they last the entire summer! I also use it in my carpet shampooer! I add it in with the shampoo solution and water. I always check that there will be no chemical reactions with the added oxy clean before buying solution.

Love all of the uses for OxiClean! Im going to be soaking baby clothes soon to prepare for the newbie!
I did want to let you know that I’m a CPST and unfortunately Oxiclean is too harsh for use on car seats. I urge you to call Uppababy, speak with a CPST, and let them know you used it as they may require you to replace the harness/other fabrics. I would also mention the use of a toothbrush as scrubbing can weaken the fibers of the harness. we usually recommend a damp cloth to be used with a dab of soap such as Blue Dawn or plain laundry detergent (ie no additives such as oxi, bleach, fabric softeners or febreeze).

If you don't watch this step it will be wrecked.

The oxiclean odor blast is great for stinky teenage boy’s laundry. I was using everything and nothing worked until this! Not sure if it’s much of a hack but to clean my ceiling fan blades I removed them (I’m guessing the previous owners never cleaned them because they were bad). Then I made a paste out of baking soda and dawn dish detergent. I let it sit on the blade for about 10 minutes and used an old dish sponge and it came off so easily. And it was sticky and greasy.

I bought Oxiclean but have been afraid to use it, because of the warning about various fabrics. I don't know the fabric content of everything, especially rugs. I also remember that my mother had to stop using Oxidol laundry detergent when we were kids because it made us itch. I'm encouraged when I see all the ways you use it, but I'm still a bit afraid to take that plunge. I need to, though, because I bought it.
Also, L.A. Awesome is amazing in getting grease off...anything. I buy it at the Dollar Store and clean stove hood filters, stove tops, underneath the stove top, greasy towels or cleaning cloths, the bottoms of pots and pans....anything greasy. Water is what makes it work so you soak something, let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse. You really don't have to scrub at all. When the rinse water hits it, grease and dirt flow out.

I use a solution of half water, half white vinegar, plus a half scoop to a full scoop of oxi clean and a sploosh of febreeze in my carpet cleaner. Gets rid of dirt/pet messes and smells like you wouldn't believe! My favorite cleaning hack is using a timer- like Flylady says, I can do anything for 15 minutes! Also, there isn't much in this world that Pine Sol can't do- I add it to stinky laundry (teen boy sweat, animal messes etc), and use it full strength on wood floors that I am currently cleaning at least a decade of hoarder type dirt and filth off of, a section (aprox 2x2) at a time. I pour it on the section, scrub with scrub brush, soak up, and wipe with a clean wet towel. Doesn't even look like the same floor! Obviously you wouldn't do this on a regular hardwood floor, but if it's so bad you'll have to strip it down or tear it out anyway, it's worth a shot! Once they are all cleaned, I'll seal them and make sure they STAY clean (not my dirt, but now my house).

Fave use for oxyclean: as a soak for all my cleaning brushes it’ll help disinfect and rewhiten the bristles.
Not as much of a hack as it is more of a method: as a caretaker for 4 apartment buildings when I have to carpet clean the hallways to save time I’ll fill the machine plus a 10 gallon mop bucket with fresh hot water and carpet shampoo and I’ll bring with an older empty mop bucket to empty the dirty water tank. This makes the job faster as it’s less trips to the sink to dump and refill.

Fave cleaning hack: Using sugar cubes to scrub burnt in remains of food. I use it to clean my oven glass and on my stove. It's especially good for electric cookers with cast iron lids on them. It doesn't scratch anything, and it gets all those narrow cracks beautifully. Grab a cube, dampen it very very lightly, scrub until it dissolves, then grab another one and scrub until the stain's gone. Rinse or wipe clean. I get some burnt sugar scent from the stove when I've gone around the cracks of the cast iron, but turning all of them on full for five minutes clears that out.

YES! And it's the only oxy-cleaner given a score of "A" by the Environmental Working Group, for product safety and environmental friendliness. All the other Dollar Tree cleaners are really toxic, though.

I think their orange cleaner is good, also natural. But I am careful with Dollar Tree.

Melissa, I love to use Oxy-Clean to clean my bathroom blinds. I take them off the window, fill the time with hot water and let them bathe a bit. Then using a gentile cloth I can wipe off the remaining dust. It also helps clean the threads that hold each piece together and the pull string that can show discoloration from regular use. It’s great. It is fast and reduces the displacement of dust and allergens in your home. Please share this to help others keep the surface clean avoiding dusting with dry cloths or vacuums. 👍🏼

I just cleaned the extractor fan filter using your method, it was so gross and grimey to begin with I didn't think it would work... but WOW I am amazed! I think you might actually convert me to like cleaning 😆 thank you!!🌟

I love using 70% Isopropyl alcohol and paper towel to clean my mirrors and glass door cabinets. I think it works better than anything and leaves my mirrors and glass, crystal clean and lint free.
I also wipe down my chrome faucet with the alcohol damp paper towels to shine them up and sanitize.

DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT USE ALCOHOL ON A MIRROR OR GLASS. It will etch the glass and make it appear foggy.

I clean those and my toilets with alcohol. Does a great job, it's really inexpensive, and it smells so fresh and clean.

I use 50% water and 50% iso. alcohol on my windshield...it really removes the streaking left by the residual oils in the plastic dash

Best deck cleaner! We have a fiberglass coated deck and a cup of OxiClean in about 2 gallons of water removes a winter's worth of grime and algae. I use a deck brush and a liberal amount of the solution. Rinse with a garden hose and the deck sparkles. It does no harm to the grass below the deck.
