Todoroki and his siblings catching Endeavor crying, and then shutting the door right away...with Endeavor yelling "Shoto!!" brought a bit of humor in such an emotional scene 😭
To explain Hawk's Mom's eyes her quirk is essentially the ability to move those eyes around and have enhanced sense of sight basically 360 vision. His fathers was the one with the wings and sharp feathers, so like Todoroki he inherited part of both their quirks; he can manipulate the sharp feathers that have the enhanced senses of what a normal bird's feathers would have. In conclusion, Hawks is the Biggest Bird.
*FYI:* Hawks' backstory partially inspired by soccer player Lionel Messi. His backstory is that at a young age, he was scouted by Barcelona and joined. His father had lost his job and couldn't afford the home medical treatment Messi needed for his illness, but thanks to his talent for soccer, FC Barcelona agreed to cover the medical expenses for them. In exchange for receiving that money, Messi had to agree to live in Spain and only play soccer from a very young age.
I really do wish they showed Wash's role - when Shiggy's decay spread he used his bubbles to lift dozens of hospital beds off the ground. I get that they cut some stuff out but that definitely showed why he was the number 8, as an effective rescue hero. At least they show his ability to disinfect wounds here.
My guess to why Hawk's father never simply left him and his mom was cause it's a mutual exchange between the parents. The father would rob and bring home food for them, cause at least his mom loved Hawks, and in exchange, the mom would use her quirk to keep him from getting caught by police. That's why the dad hated his son cause he saw Hawks as his ball n chain rather than his own son. Glad he got his ass caught. And Hawks was a really mature kid
i missed what Rei had said the first time through. that's some cold but accurate shit she said. Basically "Cry me a river. the pain you caused our family is greater then the pain you feel right now".
Lol i read that the author of the manga is a big horror fan and is always worried to make the show too dark so forces himself to draw fun characters like Fat Gum or Wash to keep things light. I think the result is great, gives the story such a unique tone.
Shoto sees his dad crying. Closes the door and turns to his siblings. Shoto: Hey guys, lets come back later, dad's crying like a BITCH. Endeavor: SHOTO!!!
I feel so bad for Hawks, man. And honestly, something that people don't talk about enough is the Hero Public Safety Commission. Like, they basically did what All for One did with Shigaraki, just on the "hero" side of things. They manipulated an impressionable kid into their care and then turned him into a soldier. It's honestly super freaky. And on the subject of freaky, it's pretty messed up that Endeavor, and abuser, had the authority to have another abuser arrested.
Yeah but it does make the story line so compelling the way Hawks parallels the Todoroki's so much in his childhood of abuse -> training + misguidedly looking up to endeavour so much to the point that to look back on it after these episodes is to recognise how much of a culmination point the fight between Dabi his eldest and Hawks his believer must've been
This is my favorite episode of the season, and one of fave eps in general, and one of my favorite chapters in the manga. I just love Hawks and Endeavor, such great characters.
I'm not exactly sure what Hawks' mom's Quirk is but I assume it's similar to Gaara's sand eye: lets her see either far away or slightly into the future. ...but she still couldn't see that staying with that guy was a bad idea... always the people with eye-based powers that are the most blind. When Hawks was talking about the Nomu being a problem, the panel was all of the Nomu we'd seen so far pointing at themselves asking, "Me?" Very tragic that it didn't make it into the anime. On a serious note, Hawks was someone who worshipped Endeavor. Who flew too fast and too close towards the sun. It's only fitting that the son is also the one that burned him his wings. He truly is like Icarus. Now the entire family is together. Well, almost all of them. Ready to talk about how everything went wrong. And how Toya became who he is today.
Another interesting note, in this episode the Hawks dad warned Hawks about turning his back towards him. And that's exactly how he lost his wings to Dabi in the present.
Hawks and endeavor have a closer relationship than coworkers too. We now know hawkes worshipped endeavor, but every interaction between them has been hawkes pushing endeavor. And endeavor respected him for it. It's kinda like they filled the role of father and son that was missing for each other. I feel in this context you can't talk about hawkes family without endeavor being a part of it. So he's kinda in that family now too

I'm not sure yet if Eri's quirk is quite that convenient. We know that after six months, her horn was large enough to revert Lemillion to his state six months ago, but when we see her later, that horn has shrunk. Presumably, this means that each day, she can store up one day of "Reversion" more or less. Maybe a bit more since Lemillion lost his powers before her horn shrunk to pretty much 0. So this means unless maybe you give her a quirk booster she's not reverting All Might to his pre-injury state since those injuries happened ten odd years ago and in the ten years needed to store power those wounds would now be twenty years old. In the future she can definitely be a nasty paramedic or Doctor reverting people injured minutes or hours ago.

I think that makes sense. If can control fabrics you'd probably become obsessed with them. However I think Jeanist is also really committed to how your image/behavior is supposed to reflect your values, like what he taught Bakugo.
I really like characters like Hawks. He reminds me of Itachi (both assassins for corrupt organizations, pretending to be the 'villain', caring about otherwise...out there characters lol). To me, he is a gray-coded character that does arguably wrong things at the right times in order to save lives. A lot of people were turned off by him after what happened with Twice, which yeah, he could have handled it better, but he did what needed to be done when diplomacy failed. He's a flawed, broken character that could have been handled in multiple ways, but I respect Horikoshi with how he wrote Hawks, even if I do have a few gripes about him. As for Endeavor....well, I don't mind his redemption(repentance) arc at all. Yeah, he was horrible to his family and even made the same mistake twice with another child that fortunately found his way, and despite how messily he's handling it, I do believe he's trying to truly atone. That being said, he 100% had what was coming for him. Even though Dabi is hypocritical on the subject of accountability(Endeavor didn't murder those people, YOU did smh), Endeavor is still at fault for placing his ambitions on his children. He is allowed to change, to atone, to be better, but I'm not feeling sorry for him with whatever karma comes back on him.
@@jasonfoley6502 I understand that lol I just thought that the way he intimidated him was a bit much. Twice trusted Hawks to a degree as well and he could've used that better. Then again he didn't have that kind of time and had to make do with the situation.
Rei came in like a Boss. She kept it real. The pain they felt was greater before Endeavor had a change of heart. And with Daby back? Their guilt is also grave
No hate towards Endeavor... But he's right here though. If I was a super flawed, abusive parent whose actions caused harm to their partner and children, even I couldn't fight back my own villainous child. I shouldn't give them lectures about being righteous when I'm super flawed myself. Also that's his own son he f***ed up because of bad parenting. There's no way he's fighting him as if he's a random villain.
No matter what heroes do people will be complaying. So if I was in charge of Hero Asociation I would stop actions for 1 month and waited for people to crawl to me asking for help.
It’s interesting how we have both a reveresed darth Vader And Obi-Wan failure in the Todoroki Family. Dabi is the son of Endavor thought long dead. It’s up to both Enji and Shoto to beat him. A situation where Obi-Aan is the father, shoto is Luke and Dabi is Anakin. So who’s Sidious?
This is the episode where it truly sets in. People have almost entirely given up on heroes. Understandably so. I will bring up 2 simple nitpicks. 1 is the title of the episode. This was a Hawks episode. No two ways about it. But it’s named after the Todoroki Family. The 2nd is ONE line change. Best Jeanist when discussing Hawk’s mother actually says “That’s rough buddy.” STRAIGHT out of Avatar the Last Airbender. But I’ll live with “Fiber on!” As suitable mocking the fantastic four. These are BARELY nitpicks but ones I felt were noticeable enough to bring up. Normally I don’t just to be positively analyzing. So let’s start the proper analysis. Hawk’s family MIGHT just surpass that of the Shimura family and the Todoroki family in dysfunction. My god, I’ve never seen such active verbal abuse. “Why were you born.” Dear god I just can’t. Not with the kids. The father is one thing as an ACTUAL villain, but the mom is just BROKEN. She’s like a husk. For Hawk’s main inspiration being because Endeavor ARRESTED HIS DAD. These weren’t even people. They were icons until one actually SOLVED a direct problem of his. And the irony of Endeavor inadvertently solving daddy issues by removing the dad from the situation. XD that is just perfect. Tomie Takami’s quirk is the floating eyes she can control at will. So that’s where Hawk’s feather control comes from. Don’t know about the dad though. But now we get into the broken society. Without trained professionals that specialize in preventing casualties all hell just breaks loose. Everyone just falls apart thinking they have to solve the problems because heroes can’t. Retirement after retirement now that the acting part of this job is so thoroughly destroyed. It’s not the same job it was. And I think people are too rough on #9. That was a man I actually believe was going to retire after the war mission as is. He LOOKS like it’s time to retire. But now that this has all occurred he is being scorned. But now that Wash has ACTUALLY BEEN FORCED TO TALK because of the horrendous mess of the situation, I don’t think these show off heroes were going to make it. This is what Stain has been telling people for SO long. His actions were awful and carried out wrong, but his analysis of the title hero was right. So many were JUST there for the glory. And while his murdering was too far, he DID prove the heroes were being lax when he made them wary. But he did this in such a fashion that the public would NOT be hurt. So that’s why it’s so up in the air what side he will be for here. He’s a GIGANTIC wild card that just…puts lots of lives at stake. He was in Tartarus for a reason. And then there’s the pressure practically all being put on Endeavor. (But also All-Might. Which is why AFO didn’t kill him in season 3. Once AFO was conscious again after the United States of Smash, All-Might was wide open and AFO could have escaped before being escorted to Tartarus. But he didn’t. And by forcing the retirement, the public now sees All-Might as NOT there. Which is HORRIFIC.) Meanwhile Endeavor has to deal with the pressure DIRECTLY. And he’s thinking his hero time is up. Not even for the public not liking him. That was fragile affection as is. He just CAN’T fight Touya. He can’t bring himself to fight in a way that could endanger his family. He’s already done SO MUCH. And it breaks him. But there’s actual REPRESSED MEMORIES involved with Touya. And it’s so much that REI has taken it upon herself to support him. Bringing in the very flower he always did to tell her he was thinking of her. Natsuo, Fuyumi, SHOOOOOOTTTOOOOOO, ALL OF THEM. This has been a long time coming. An in-depth conversation of their family. And let’s just get this outta the way now. She’s here to settle the family drama. But the fact this woman STILL goes by the name Rei Todoroki, and ALL OF THEM still have his name. That is just the ultimate test for their family. They are STILL family no matter how strained they are. This episode was DARK. Messed up. And I am REALLY admiring Jiro’s family and Uraraka’s family right about now. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE to have such purely loving families with true unconditional love to the depths of EVERYTHING when we have to so FREQUENTLY study family NIGHTMARES. I’d bring up Deku and Bakugo’s families but there are cracks there too. I just can’t get enough of this arc. It is SO gripping I adore it.
@@CrownofMischief I do understand, but it didn’t feel completely out there. And the translation I read always has edits beneath the panels when they edit something like that. I didn’t see one for that chapter. Horikoshi definitely did get some inspiration from the last Airbender. It’s nearly impossible to not make comparisons with the Todoroki’s and the Zuko family. And Horikoshi is a massive fan of western hero stories. Star Wars (which is also quite connected to avatar) and others. It felt like a reference he would slide in. If someone saw different in that chapter, let me know.
he would have to intend to pass it on, and the vestiges would probably get a say too at this point (like how at the end of Heroes Rising the whole quirk went back to Deku)
While that scene was funny, Endeavor was on the verge of breaking. It all came crashing down, the actions/mistakes he made was tearing him apart, and he was on the verge of giving up. Then his wife came to see him, not to blame him but to remind him, it not all his fault. When the next one comes out,, that when you see the full tragic story of how Toya Died and would become Dabi.

I'm on Lupa's side with this one, Endeavor's original outfit was sick.
imagine talking about your sad past and some dude brings up skinny jeans lol
I love it when ever the skrr skrrr edit comes back 😂😂
So Yoshi AND Toad got jobs at the hospital huh 🤣
His Jean senses were tingling
i have a genuine question how does hawks put on a shirt lmaoo
They make special clothes for heteromorphs lol plus he can just simply retract his feathers, put on his shirt and recall them
I still can’t get over the Yoshi doctor
Hawks had no choice as Twice's quirk had the potential to destroy a nation.
@@jasonfoley6502 oh I know, and he made the right decision. I'm just saying he could have done some things differently with how he approached Twice.
@@HarpyLady Twice was too loyal to Shigaraki and they genuinely cared about him.
@@jasonfoley6502 I understand that lol I just thought that the way he intimidated him was a bit much. Twice trusted Hawks to a degree as well and he could've used that better. Then again he didn't have that kind of time and had to make do with the situation.
The Lambor-Jeanie
The spin cycle is powerful… Considering Wash has a higher ranking than both the samurai and dragon lady! 😂
Popularity also factors when it comes to hero ranking
First Yoshi and now Toad? Who next, Bowser?
DC and Tokyo Ghoul lawyers were busy at work today 😂😂
Rei came in like a Boss. She kept it real. The pain they felt was greater before Endeavor had a change of heart. And with Daby back? Their guilt is also grave
That mushroom girl from class 1B could literally give people cordyceps
Since the villains broke out the prisons, it makes me wonder if Hawks will confront his dad
Bruh these skrrt skrrt edits 💀💀 me every time
Now the author is also fan of DC with Jeanist's pantsmobile🤣
No hate towards Endeavor... But he's right here though. If I was a super flawed, abusive parent whose actions caused harm to their partner and children, even I couldn't fight back my own villainous child. I shouldn't give them lectures about being righteous when I'm super flawed myself. Also that's his own son he f***ed up because of bad parenting. There's no way he's fighting him as if he's a random villain.
No matter what heroes do people will be complaying.
So if I was in charge of Hero Asociation I would stop actions for 1 month and waited for people to crawl to me asking for help.
the one time an anime dad should've went for milk, hawks' dad basically
Fun fact: you've seen Hawks' dad before, in the Episode where that one villain went after Natsuo
Heavy episode but next one will be way heavier I believe
5:45 And Deku will be Batman
6:32 Dead ass I literally got an ad for swiffer after he said that😂
6:28 bro is a whole megaman boss
quite possibly the best reactors in TH-cam.
why does he do the best all might voice tho 🤣🤣🤣
endeavor rlly can only fight his kids when they're 5 years old and cant defend themselves💀
Yall ever just sat there and looked at lupa’s hair growth
It’s interesting how we have both a reveresed darth Vader And Obi-Wan failure in the Todoroki Family. Dabi is the son of Endavor thought long dead. It’s up to both Enji and Shoto to beat him. A situation where Obi-Aan is the father, shoto is Luke and Dabi is Anakin. So who’s Sidious?
The editing this episode is 1a!
I’m pretty sure that car is called Hercules
You do realize "That's rough, buddy" is probably translation liberties, right? It was probably just the manga translator having fun
You can see Hawks' Sperm donor's feathers on his arms btw lol
@@HarpyLady I did miss that actually. XD by the way, TH-cam doesn’t like your comment and I assume it auto-deleted. But I appreciated the phrasing.
@@Kaempfdog lol np fam! And of course Mickey Mouse tube auto deleted it 🙄😂
Did the subtitles just call Rei “Lei”?
Just like how they call Rock Lock "Lock Lock"😂. It's probably because R's and L's are pronounced the same way in Japanese.
How would Spider-Man and his rogues gallery of villains fare in the My Hero Academia universe?
The only wrong people that Twice fell in with was Hawks. I have more sympathy for that Overhaul than that chicken-fried fake.
It's not Gotham, it's GOTHAMU!!
6:35 And what's my Washing Machine doing in this random ass place?
Bro was flabbergasted 😭
So like if deku is an organ donor, technically he's willing to give his blood organs to save others? Does OFA get passed on too?
he would have to intend to pass it on, and the vestiges would probably get a say too at this point (like how at the end of Heroes Rising the whole quirk went back to Deku)
Katara: you know my mom use to . . . . .
The scream lmao
No it's not the jeans mobile it's the denim dragster
Hawks with that Darth Vader mask😭
off topic: man i want these guys to react to eminence of shadow
4:09
Iykyk 🤭
