Time for a Catch Up! April '24 Update & Announcements

Just a quick video with some announcements for upcoming stuff here in the Cave. Please feel free to leave any questions for the Q & A segment of the livestream underneath in the comments section.

Prize bundles include paints, pencils and lots of other high-quality supplies, which will be showcased over the coming week or so. Half the proceeds from each ticket will be donated to 'Tiny Changes' - a UK charity that focuses on the mental health of young people. The charity was set up by the family of the lead singer of 'Frightened Rabbit' who died by suicide in 2020. My friend Glyn was a musician and was a fan of the band, so this seems fitting. Losing someone like that really does change you permanently. I am glad you are coming out of your long dark winter now. I am excited for the livestream! Baby cows are adorable! For the best description of grief, look up the box and ball analogy by Nurse Hadley. It makes so much sense.
Gem, I feel like I am only repeating what everyone else has said -- but it was so good to SEE you today. Thanks for the update though I'm sure it was a tough decision to speak about all that happened last year. Your warmth and caring shines through and we are all here waiting when you are ready. I'm always delighted to see a new Cave video, but I wholeheartedly support the idea of doing one video a week and so giving yourself more time and grace for all the other things in your life. I agree, those are incredibly important.
I hope the coming year treats you as kindly as last year did unkindly, so that you can continue to recover.

Hey Gem, lovely to see your face and I'm loving the hair! Have got my raffle ticket, what a smashing idea and you know all of us Cavers will be here, ready and waiting, whenever you're comfortable to resume "normal" activities. Loving the baby coos, they're ridiculously cute when small.
That kind of a tragedy affects you permanently, I've sadly been in the same situation, you don't "get over it" but you learn to live with it and the "what ifs" will never go away but, in my experience anyway, no, there was likely nothing you could have done to change the situation.
Sending massive hugs to you and to JuliaK for her improving health situation too.

The "what if I" after these tragedies always linger. I'm sorry you've had to go through so much but I'm glad you're moving forwards.

Hullo Gem, I am glad you posted this update and Please know that with all of the changes with TH-cam we can understand how things can and must change. I do not know how anyone maintains a life AND creates videos too! I am glad that your doing better (a relative term in every case). I am sorry for the loss of your friend. I have been through more than a few set-backs like this. I spent time in a rehab hospital and 60%+ of the people who were there with me are gone and not all were natural causes. Counseling is a necessary part of life in these chaotic times. I am hoping to get some raffle tickets and attend at least a part of the stream! It can be tricky as you are Tomorrow +8 hours according to the world clock on my phone! I think you can post a premier time for stream here on TH-cam? and then we can click to be notified when you start! I am looking forward to seeing you again. Until then be safe, take care and believe in your subscribers/followers/friends we are here for You and The Cave!
I will be scheduling the livestream in the next few days, so yes, you'll be able to set a reminder. You are 8 hours behind the UK, so the stream will start 8am 'your time' on the 26th and run until 11am. You can always watch the replay if you can't make it, might be a bit early for you? (although coffee and a livestream might be fun?)
So sorry to hear about your loss! I hope you find the best balance of things for you. Maybe do the things that are easiest and most relaxing for you for the channel? It shouldn’t become something unpleasant or stressful for you. You don’t owe anyone anything, and your quality of life is more important than what viewers want. Do what you love and enjoy, and let the haters go. If it’s fun for you, it won’t matter if fifty thousand people or five people watch. The people that stay will enjoy it with you. What else matters?
I've always stuck by this, when I started my channel I never expected to have as many subscribers, so I can safely say I've never done it if it hasn't been fun. I feel now that I have to move with the times. Thanks for such a kind comment.
