As an Uber driver, I had a woman from Sweden as a passenger. I asked her if it was ok for me to eat while I drive since I had been driving for 10 hours without much of a break, other than getting gas. She asked me why I was working so hard and I told her so I could pay rent. She was genuinely worried about my health and offered to take me somewhere to eat to get off the road for a bit. I told her I was ok and she asked me why do I work harder yet make less than most Americans. I told her most Americans do not make much more than I do.

It is not "culture appropriation" it is trying to do what the locals do so American's do not offend people.
I am an American who lived in a foreign country for 4 years. And a lot of the people I met, wanted me to wear their traditional clothing for festivals and local holidays when everyone else was wearing traditional clothing. They were trying to get me to experience their culture. No one thought I was "culture appropriationing" They were welcoming to me.
I understand this is stereotypes, but a lot of these are not true. But I do know Europeans have the more negative views on Americans vs Asia or other other continents.

I was vacationing in south Korea with my wife. We went for a walk in downtown Akpo. I should mention that Neither my wife nor I are Korean and Akpo isn't a large tourist destination. We where there visiting her father and mother who both worked in the country in high paying professional jobs. so we kinda stuck out amongst all the Koreans. While we where walking a young salary-man on a bike rode by us and stared so much at us that he ran right into an elderly man on a scooter. He flipped over his bike and the old man's scooter nearly careened right into busy traffic. We found out later that Korea doesn't have the same taboo against staring at people that other countries in the west do. If they can be so easily distracted by a couple of foreigners taking a walk to the shops then maybe they should start appropriating a culture of not staring at people. xD

You can imagine how angry the owner was when he came out of the restaurant he was in, i was eating there too, i was sitting up on a balcony and had a great view. Me and my family laughed so much

There's victims of Agent Orange on the top floor followed by Swaths of farmlands and settlements being obliterated to craters, which was so upsetting to see. And there was this American tourist going around the museum with a studded T-shirt with an American flag and loads of guns on it and right in the middle with big bold writing, *”FREEDOM!, THE AMERICAN WAY!.”*

Used to be a tour guide in Scotland, have had about 100+ Americans on them. Quite a lot of this is true in my expiernece, however with some variations:
    - Whilst at first seeming over and fake, most genuinely were friendly and were very nice.
    - Many were the first to get involved in the "fun" aspects, keen to volunteer be used as props for storytelling. I always appreciated that, even if it was *too* keen sometimes.
    - They TIP WELL, and always showed gratitude
    - They were noticeably "louder" than others, even in a conversation. This was a constant, I even had to make up a regular joke when passing a graveyard for americans to not wake up the dead.
    - They liked to talk about the USA a lot, sometimes too much.
    - They were keen to ask questions about the city, especially coming up after the tour.
    - Interestingly, almost all of them were very much believers in the supernatural...
    - The younger folk were often, well, very much more "forward" and "flirty" than most. I witnessed quite a few times some younger American tourists head off with people they met on the tour.
    Overall:
I preferred them over many other tourists for sure! Just, indoor voices needs to be worked on 😂
Oh and clothing/fashion? Yea, this video hit that right on the nail! 😂

Only one out of the five spoke somewhat English but it was still hard to understand. I had to go get my boss as she and her family knew both English and German fluently so I just stood there like an idiot watching the two chatter in German and complete a regular business deal, but I didn’t understand a word that was said the whole time. 😂

I feel like the uptight or "my money can buy anything" vibe is because only people with money travel outside of country. And here, that's exactly how those people are. Ignorant, but it doesn't matter, they have money, they don't need anything else out here.
We hate it here, too. But there's really no use trying to change it because those types of people are really dense. I for one, have always been poor, I'm bilingual, learning a third language, I like learning about other cultures, and I try to be polite.
But people with money here don't usually do that, though.
