The closest thing I can find of an older version of Project Zomboid being played by a know content creator is ambiguousamphibian having like one video where he was playing in build 40 riiight before 41 came out. Dan really was great at finding hidden gems of a game for us to play.

I have this game, and at some point after slinking around the suburbs, I finally reached a city like area after about a day of traveling the highway. I came across a pump action shotgun and a crap ton of shells for it in a police station (I think) I then got sick and tired of avoided these zombies, playing by their rules, so I got to a four way interstate and shot a single shell. Every door in a 2 miles radius opened up, and a crap ton of zombies burst from every direction. I shot though the biggest hoard I had ever seen for god knows how long. Eventually, I was stuck with my baseball bat, but then there were too many, I smiled, dropped literally everything on me, and just accepted death. I'm not sure which scene from a movie I was stealing from, but it feels like that comes from a movie..
