For everyone’s information, Hong Kong’s metro system is actually really good compared with NYC, we have shops for food, convenient stores, atms and sometimes random stuff all in one station, FOR ALL STATIONS! Also, signs are everywhere, there are guidelines to what symbols mean on the maps and we have special “quiet carts” on the trains for people who don’t want to be disturbed. Fun fact, one of the metro lines has a first class cart on the trains!
Considering this video is sarcastic it's safe to say most other systems are better than NYC. I don't remember HK's system as I was last there in 2012... But I've been to enough countries in Europe and Asia to know there are better options than what we'll find in the US.
I'll take anime land any day over NYC omg not blind to the issues but i'd rather have peace and a clean train and system then fearing i'll die going to or from work!
Unfortunately I must agree with this. I'm from Brooklyn, and the *_Yamanote_* line puts us to shame! I can't remember the last weekend when we DIDN'T have a single train rerouted or the route shortened or shut down for track work. For several weekends over the past decade, we have had many.

Don't know dude, kinda feel like Japan's train stations are starting to rot and look like the subway station in America... Just a personal opinion but i prefer China's/Hong Kong's/Singapore's Stations, looks way more modern and fun to ride than Japan's ones. Not to hate on Japan's train system as it's surley amazing but that's just my opinion
Here in São Paulo, our subway is well maintained and the stations are clean, especially the yellow line 4 which is the most modern here in BRAZIL, it has driverless Korean trains, controlled remotely and with the CBTC system, this provides conditions for average intervals of 75 to 90 seconds to catch the train during peak hours. In addition to traveling to work or somewhere else, you can buy a coffee or a snack or buy some accessories for your cell phone all within the station, since many stations here focus on these small businesses, this generates jobs and additional revenue (space rental) for the station.

The DC metro isn’t nearly as extensive as the NYC subway, but the stations are large, pretty, and normally well maintained. It’s also very east to use, even for tourists.
Doesn't run 24/7 though. When I moved to northern VA I took the metro into DC to avoid paying for parking, walked around the city hit a couple bars, then on my way back home I realized I couldn't get in the metro. Had to pay for an expensive ass Uber back to VA.
Funny and sad too. I was also disappointed in the German train system recently, while traveling from Hamburg to Amsterdam to Munich and back to Hamburg. The number of delays were amazing. On the other hand, the subways and trains in China are modern, clean, comfortable, inexpensive and on time. Switzerland has great mass transit too.
I’ve road the NYC metro for a long time, and used the DC metro, and thought they were really good and cool, and then I went to Seoul for a few weeks and had my mind blown at a well designed subway system, with good cleanliness and clearly defined routes.

It must be nice being in NY and not having your orange line trains catch fire
I live in Boston and I'm fleeing to NYC because the MBTA is 100% useless, not 24 hours and late 100% of the time. In my opinion they should completely shut down the MBTA, it's completely useless. Once I move to NYC I'm never touching the MBTA again
I've been in New York and Boston subway!
The Boston metro needs to become more famous so people can get off of NYC's back because at least our transit operator pretends to care, it's a miracle MBTA trains don't spontaneously combust.

You should see what European subway and train systems are like. Imagine having actual long distance rail connections between all major cities and towns in America.
New York has a MASSIVE Legacy system, it's unusual because it's 3 separate systems they were stitched together
You can blame big car/train for that one. There used to be a law that all train companies had to run passenger cars as well as freight. When cars came out everyone wanted to try the new thing and big train gave up on passengers and lobbied it out
