    There used to be an intermediate station along the line called Penns Neck. It was built by the Pennsylvania Railroad and closed by Penn Central in 1971.

    For the engineer and the conductor(s), the job pays the bills. But, it has to be the most boring job on NJT.

      As far as railroading jobs, it seems pretty relaxed. You are familiar with the route, only 3 crossings, and no signals or other trains since...it's the only train ever on the line.

    I would love to see scale models of the Arrow III railcars produced. They would be useful for modelling the Northeast Corridor. And of course, the Princeton Dinky.

    Princeton and NJT did a wwonderful job building a new station with a Wawa store adjacent to the station for the convenience of the riders, staff and students who use the station.

      True, but I was sad to see the old, historic station go.

      They turned a landmark into another commercial cesspool, and now they want to get rid of the Dinky all together.

    • @floydjohnson7888
      @floydjohnson7888 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, the Wawa is a "thing of the region" (Philadelphia metropolitan area). I would not be surprised if it had a rustic facade comparable to that of a BK that was on campus in the mid-1980s

    They should double track this section of the NJT tracks

    • @Bigjimvideo
      @Bigjimvideo  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think the volume of people riding the dinky is enough to justify a second set of tracks - during rush hours, this runs a fairly fast/tight schedule, and serves the university/town well.

    • @Bigjimvideo
      @Bigjimvideo  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, but the ridership just isn't there. Besides, run the two-car trains often enough, it makes up for not needing a third car.
